which has the potential to create some awesome positive change, directed and lead by the people of Shirley, so
will still get to connect with some of you through some of the great little projects happening in that space I know.
It has been a pleasure and a privilege to get to know so many of you in the Shirley Community. Everything has it’s
season, and this is where we are now for Te Puna Oraka Early Years Services Hub after 10 years of connecting with
this community is very many ways with a vision of supporting the best possible start in life for families raising their
tamariki in Shirley. Shirley is a community that benefits from the energy and commitment of those that live here,
and while services may come and go this community spirit will remain and flourish. Wishing the families of Shirley
all the very best in your parenting journeys.’

  Editorial
This July edition is touching on seasons of change with the Shirley Hub no longer hosting the Early Years
  services.
Here at the Neighbourhood Trust we also have some sad news, our wonderful editor of 4 years Amber is finishing
up in her role as editor. We are excited to be able to say she will still be part of our neighbourhood Trust Team in
  other ways in our community.
We’d like take this opportunity to thank Amber for her passion for our community, building long lasting connections
through her work on The Mairehau and for her strong drive to bring us inspirational and wonderful stories of
  happenings in our neighbourhood.
  God Bless, Trudy

Special guests at training
The year 7/8 Mairehau Netball team had some special guests at training this week. They were joined by
The Good Oil Tactix players Charlotte Elley and Ellie Bird.
They took the girls through some fun ball games, like how to lean in to defend and how to shoot the
netball.

So, what is stress?
Stress is a physical reaction to events that make you feel threatened or upset
your balance. This stress response from your body is its way of looking after
you. Up to a certain point a stress response can be very helpful, especially in
emergency situations where stress can save your life.

But your body will reach a certain point where stress stops being good and
starts causing damage to your health, the way you work, your moods and
