Our destination is the town of Colmar. Fairytale lovers might notice something that may feel quite familiar about this town. The setting for Belle’s hometown in Beauty and the Beast is a small provincial French city lined with colorful homes, cobblestone streets, and quaint shops — meaning it’s basically Colmar. See the colorful fishermen’s houses on the Quai de la Poissonnerie or the scenic Quartier des Tanneurs. 4

Before we get to the delicacies however, we visit the lakeside Castle Chillon. If this beautiful castle doesn’t having you reaching for your dinglehopper to spruce up to meet your prince or princess then you need to know that Chillon served as the inspiration for Eric’s not so humble abode in the Little Mermaid.
