Welcome to the ProQuest Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Board. The goal of ProQuest’s advisory boards is to forge an ongoing, collaborative and open partnership with key customers in order to help set and validate ProQuest’s strategic direction. The mission of this advisory panel is to bring together diverse expert voices to help guide our curation, licensing, and content strategy to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in ProQuest’s Ebook Central. Our goals are to: • Assess current subject and publisher representation in Ebook Central • Identify titles, authors, and publishers of interest for inclusion in our content pool • Ensure that we at ProQuest are making available the broadest range of materials to support diverse curricula initiatives and promote inclusive learning for all.

For the last two years at University of Kent she has have been involved in a project to diversify library collections so students can ‘see yourself on the shelf’ and positively impact on student retention and awarding across diverse groups.

David Michalski is the Social and Cultural Studies Librarian at University of California, Davis where he works as the bibliographer and liaison to departments in ethnic studies and the social sciences. He holds a PhD. in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory from UC Davis, a MLIS from the City University of New York, Queens, and a MA in American Studies from SUNY, Buffalo. He is currently researching the intersection of ethnic studies librarianship and community-engaged scholarship.

I’ve worked at Solent University in Southampton, UK since 2008 in a variety of roles relating to resource acquisition and I became Associate University Librarian in 2017. My career in libraries started with Nottingham public libraries in the late 1980s and over the past 30 years I’ve worked in public, specialist, health and social care, and academic settings. I’m passionate about the role libraries can play as champions of diversity and inclusivity. I was one of the founders of the university’s LGBTQ Staff Network in 2013 and I am an active member of the Equality and Diversity Committee.
