East Leeds NPT News East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team Newsletter Covering: Allerton Bywater, Burmantofts, Cross Gates, Garforth, Gipton, February 2020 Halton Moor, Harehills, Killingbeck, Kippax, Methley, Richmond Hill, Seacroft, Swillington, Temple Newsam, Whinmoor and surrounding areas. East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team Newsletter Police and Crime Commissioners Visit February 2020 Inspector Mick Preston said, “As part of a long planned visit, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Mark Burns Williamson visited East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team to see the ongoing hard work of the team and pro-activity, targeting a variety of locations and issues. During this visit, the PCC met staff conducting their daily business at a number of locations across East Leeds. Issues discussed included partnership working, resourcing and the policing responses to issues which matter to local residents, including crime, anti-social behaviour and Road Safety.” The PCC said, “It was great to meet NPT officers and staff from East Leeds NPT and hear about the proactive work to tackle crime, improve community engagement and to tackle anti-social behaviour, helping to keep our communities safe”
A number of images were captured during the visit at various locations across the East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team: Garforth PCC with PCSO Adam Hick image taken at Barley Hill Play area, Garforth the scene of some recent ASB. The Garforth PCSO’s have been signposting youths to diversionary activities. PCSO Adam Hick conducting joint visits with LCC Parking Services in response to complaints raised by members of the public about inappropriate and illegal parking. The image was captured on Main Street, Garforth just one of the locations where issues have been raised. Leeds East Neighbourhood Policing Team continue to work with Partner Agencies to address and resolve the issues raised locally.
PCSO Andy Hurley and the Off Road Bike Team (ORBT) member PC Dom Botwright undertaking a Road Safety initiative. The initiative included the use of the Speed gun on Ninelands Lane, Garforth. Burmantofts and Richmond Hill A visit to Mount St Mary’s High School to meet Safer Schools Officer PC Ian Deering, discussing partnership working in schools, safeguarding, diversionary activities and inputs delivered to pupils. Halton Moor The PCC also visited Halton Moor and spoke to PCO Kelly Masterman on patrol on Kendal Drive and PC’s Liz Collins and Neil Haywood from the Leodis ASB Team regarding the successful applications for injunctions to prevent further ASB in Halton Moor and surrounding areas. Work continues and there has been a reduction in Anti-Social Behaviour calls in the Locality.
Crossgates A visit to Cross Gates took place where there has been a recent rise in Anti-Social Behaviour. Discussions about ASB and partnership working took place regarding the recent public meeting which was held locally at the Travellers Rest. The meeting held provided an opportunity for the Police and partners to explain to concerned residents about the broad work going on to tackle the local issues raised. Leeds Easts current Local Neighbourhood Priorities: Burmantofts & Richmond Hill Tackling anti-social behaviour. Proactive and Partnership work to address the recent increase in begging and vagrancy occurrences in local high rise residential accommodation inclusive of drug use. Killingbeck & Seacroft Proactive and Partnership work at repeat demand locations to address anti-social behaviour and criminal damage occurrences. Proactive work surrounding drug related crimes and motorcycle crime. Gipton & Harehills Proactive work targeting emerging criminality and robbery offences. Improving community engagement. Proactive work to address anti-social behaviour particularly incidents that are linked to drugs supply and street drinking. Garforth, Kippax, Methley, Swillington, Allerton Bywater Proactive work to reduce burglary offences. Proactive and Partnership work to address multiple road safety concerns raised such as speeding and parking related issues.
Cross Gates & Whinmoor and surrounding areas Proactive work to reduce burglary offences. Proactive and Partnership work in the Crossgates area to address anti-social behaviour. Temple Newsam, Halton Moor Proactive work to reduce anti-social behaviour and criminal damage. On-going work to identify offenders of motorcycle criminality and anti-social behaviour.
