A YEAR IN REVIEW Since 1976, Oakville Meals on Wheels (OMoW) has been providing Oakville residents with nutritious hot lunches and frozen entrees. From Monday to Friday, our volunteers deliver personal meal service along with a wellness check to ensure clients are healthy, safe and thriving while continuing to live independently. Our fiscal year 2020-21 saw new challenges for OMoW as we navigated - and continue to navigate - through the COVID-19 pandemic. An increase in demand (especially for subsidized meals), volunteer turnover and increased safety protocols dominated our focus this year. Despite these challenges, OMoW did not miss delivery of a single meal during the pandemic. In October 2020, OMoW saw a major milestone with delivery of our one millionth meal. This milestone could not have been achieved without the dedication of our amazing volunteers. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, show up 5 days a week for approximately two hours per shift to fulfill up to 10 routes per day, 52 weeks of the year. OMoW is community funded and must raise Board of Directors 2020-2021 100% of its operating budget. We work with wonderful funders and sponsors, and have • Jan Narduzzi, Board Chair numerous fundraising initiatives throughout the • Kellie Gray, Vice Chair • Frank Linhart, CPA CMA, Treasurer year that are generously supported by the • Yolaine Boileau-Matteau, Secretary community at large. We are grateful for the • Farid Siddiqui support of Mo’s Family restaurant that provides • Janet Cherrett our hot, delicious and nutritious meals each • Jill Snidal • Steve Kelly day. And of course all the individual donors that • Rosie Grewal give at various times during the year. Staff As 2021 rapidly comes to a close, we are • Michelle Nichols, Director of Client continuing to successfully operate with COVID- Services 19 protocols and public health measures in • Jacqueline Nadeau, Program place, and raise funds to allow us to continue Assistant to serve the needs of Oakville residents.
