W.E.F. ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-17 Specialization course in “Painting /Portraiture” leading to the Master of Fine Art (M.F.A.- Painting ) The Curriculum is Planned to further enhance the knowledge and skill of the student while encouraging personal growth based on research in various styles of painting , related technology and ideas. Regular expertise interaction will help to build a bridge between students and their future mentors from industry. There will be three specializations and the student can specialize in one of these specializations. They are: Painting /Portraiture & Printmaking (Graphic Art ) Once student select his / her Specialization subject, cannot change for whole course. The arrangement of visiting staff and regular staff for concern expertise subject to be made by institute according to syllabus. The experts / Visiting staff can be Professionals, master craftsmen, artists and traditional artists or from allied subjects. While conducting practical assignment attention will be given to develop in students a good professional outlook, apart from academic excellence. Visits to Design Studio, Advertising Agency, Print Industry, Museums, Temples, Architectural Monuments, Exhibitions, Galleries, Professional set up, Art and Craft workshop are to be the regular features.

Revaluation will be done only for theory papers by panel appointed by concern University, Not for the practical subjects. Internal marks will not change. A student cannot claim to repeat or revaluate the internal assessments. F. Medium of Instruction Medium of instruction and Examination will be English as a global language/ Hindi as a national language/ and Marathi for better understanding of students. G. Pattern –Total Mark 200 (Jury Exam) CREDIT 20 DISSERTATION – (PAINTING / PORTAITURE) Final semester candidates are required to select a suitable topic for their dissertation In consultation with the subject teacher and work on it under his guidance or under a guide teacher approved by the University. the dissertation (7000-10000 words)should be prepared in the prescribed manner and handed over (04 copy ) to the concern teacher, through the Head of the Department positively one months before the commencement of the examination . Core Course – Course 18 VIVA- VOCE Viva- voce Exam . Pattern –Total Mark 100 (Jury Exam) Viva- voce examination will be conducted by a panel nominated by the chairman comprising the expert and appropriate external experts from the joint board of examiners.
Final semester candidates will have to arrange a display of their total class work (Form I to IV Semester) at the time of viva- voce examination along with dissertation in the Department / examination hall . Grade Awards :- (I) A ten point rating scale shall be used for the evaluation of the performance of the student to provide letter grade for each course and overall grade for the Masters Programme grade points are based on the total number of marks obtained by him / her in all the heads of examination of the course . Specialization course in “Applied Art” leading to the Master of Fine Art (M.F.A.- Applied Art) This Syllabus is designed in terms of preparing the student for the professional scenario with relevance to practical needs and requirements. The number of assignments also requires with reference to learning objects for every subject and the time available. A holistic approach includes providing industry training via internships, handling live projects, visits to advertising and design houses and also print and production units. Technical advancement is the key to a substantial teaching system in today’s world and thus a great responsibility lies on the art curriculum to prepare students to rise to meet global standards and align seamlessly to changing trends. Dissertation The students of post graduation are required to select a suitable hypothesis supporting their choice of specialization and prepare a dissertation in conclusion with Head of the Department and work on it under the guidance of such faculty member or under a teacher as approved by the University. Such dissertation must be prepared in the prescribed manner (Four copies) and should have minimum 7000 to 10000 words in it. It should be handed over to the concern teacher, through the Head of Department positively one calendar month before commencement of final examination. Core Course -course 23
Viva- voce Exam . Pattern –Total Mark 100 (Jury Exam) The one or two external referees shall be the persons residing in India, who are experts in the subject. The viva shall be held jointly by the external referees and the Guiding Teacher, only after the dissertation have been valued by the external and/or referees, and at the time of holding it, the referees conducting the viva-voce shall have the dissertation in their hands and project work (Class work) displayed at the same time. A candidate will have to arrange a display of their total project work done in all first to third semesters. The work should be well presented in the exhibition hall or studio of the department. The panel of examiners shall observe the candidate’s performance on the basis of his/her displayed work and conduct the viva-voce examination simultaneously. Grade Awards :- (I) A ten point rating scale shall be used for the evaluation of the performance of the student to provide letter grade for each course and overall grade for the Masters Programme grade points are based on the total number of marks obtained by him / her in all the heads of examination of the course . Syllabus Structure of M.F.A. By Research – Painting Painting/Portraiture /Print Making (Graphic Art) Ordinance O-773a & b and regulation R- 1550- a to e & R-1551 a to g relating to the Master of Fine Art degree course by research in the subject of painting, portraiture ,print making , (Graphic Art) are implemented in Credit Based & grading system BY RESEARCH (Note :- Registration as a post graduate student shall be a condition precedent to the commencement of studies for the degree of M.F.A. by research ) A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Master of fine Arts degree course by research in the branches of 1. Painting 2.portraiture, 3.print making, (Graphic Art) B.F.A (Painting) Degree form this or any University or Government Diploma in Art (Painting) of the Government of Maharashtra state or an equivalent thereto passed and must have thereafter obtained five years experience of Professional (Painting) / teaching to the classes leading to the B.F.A. Degree (Painting) in any University or the Government diploma of art (painting) of government of Maharashtra state & equivalent are eligible. preference will be given to candidate form Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University affiliated colleges
five years of Professional experience in Painting discipline are Outstanding in relevant field on state, National / International level achievement (Exhibitions , awards, workshops, demonstrations. etc ) a) In all the specialization prescribed for the M.F.A. degree by Research only five candidate in each specialization are allowed to enroll in every academic year / 15 candidates in each discipline (Painting & Applied Art) b) A candidate seeking admission to the M.F.A. degree courses by Research shall have to registered as a post graduate student under a teacher recognized by the University and submit through him a synopsis of the topic of his Dissertation which should be related to the branches prescribed for the M.F.A. degree by Research c) The M.F.A. degree courses by Research shall consist of a dissertation and a projects work (practical) . d) A candidate for the M.F.A. degree by Research will be required to register himself as a post graduate student under a recognized teacher approved by University. On completion of a period of four term or two academic years as a M.F.A. by Research student the candidate shall submit a dissertation for the degree along with the project work (practical )on any subject related to the prescribed for the M.F.A. degree courses provided that the teacher under whom the candidate is registered certifies that prime facie, the dissertation is worthy of submission for the award of the degree. e) The nature of the project work( practical) and the dissertation to be submitted by the candidate for the M.F.A. degree courses by Research in the branches if Painting, Portraiture, Print Making,( Graphic Art) shall be as under.
