Our canal network is fragile and vulnerable. Climate
change, and the test of time, are taking their toll.
As a charity, we urgently need donations and
volunteers to ensure our canals are never again
abandoned, and never again fall into disrepair.
Our aim is to ensure that this extraordinary network
of canals and rivers is kept alive, places they run
through are transformed and lives are enriched.

travel to the National Waterways Museum at the
start of the cruising season for the annual Easter
Boat Gathering 15 to 18 April 2022. Colourful

miles of the Llangollen canal is a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. And it’s not just the
view… Taking the Llangollen Canal across
the River Dee valley in North Wales, the
aqueduct is one of the most awesome
engineering feats on the canal network.

We believe that no other UK charity brings so much free, open and accessible blue and green space to the doorsteps of so many people and by offering regular local activities we can have a real impact on people’s physical and mental wellbeing. But please take care by the water and don’t get in, find other ways to cool down. – If you find yourself in the water and in trouble, float on your back to help you to control your breathing. Then shout for help. – If you see someone in the water, don’t get in to help them. Call 999 and ask for the Fire Service. – If your dog gets in the water, don’t get in after it.
