4 DHL UK Foundation Strategy 2017-2020 DHL UK Foundation Strategy 2017-2020 5 WHO WE ARE MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN & DIRECTOR: CHRIS STEPHENS & SONIA CHHATWAL The DHL UK Foundation is a registered charity that helps disadvantaged children and young people aged 5 years to 25 years from across the UK. Our activities are focussed on helping these young people to get the most out of their education and supporting them into employment. 6 DHL UK Foundation Strategy 2017-2020 DHL UK Foundation Strategy 2017-2020 7 WHAT WE DO VISION That children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK should have access to the best possible education, the opportunity to prepare for the world of work and the chance to achieve their full potential. MISSION For the Foundation, our charity partners, the DHL business and colleagues across the UK to work together to support and inspire our beneficiaries. The Trustees have agreed that the Foundation’s support should be focussed on three key areas of: EDUCATION Partnering with charities that help struggling students to get the most out of their education during important stages of their time in primary and secondary school, college and university – helping them to become work ready and to develop life and citizenship skills. EMPLOYABILITY Partnering with charities that help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds learn about the world of work, the logistics industry and DHL. ENGAGEMENT Encouraging colleagues across DHL to use their passion and skills to help support their local communities and young people in need.

The focus on Employability aligns with Deutsche Post DHL Group’s global GoTeach programme. Four colleagues from across DHL ran a CV & Interview Skills Workshop for 50 students at Weston Favell Academy in Northampton. The Foundation currently has two sources of income: nn Interest from an endowment fund of £30M invested with three Investment Fund Managers INDEPENDENT CHAIRMAN nn An annual donation from the DHL UK businesses INDEPENDENT EXPERTS BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVES EXPENDITURE The Foundation will: Charity Governance Deutsche Post DHL Group nn Exist in perpetuity nn Ensure administration costs account for no more than 25% of total expenditure nn Review partnership funding on an annual basis Investment Collaboration Board In 2015/16 the Foundation invested over £1.6M in charitable grants and activities.
