Pune... The City of Education.! Organizing Chairman Welcome Address Dear Friends and Colleagues, It is with immense pleasure, honour & humility I extend this invitation for the most-awaited gathering DERMACON 2020, the 48th National Conference of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists. Pune had hosted DERMACON way back in 1987 in Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical college with only 800 delegates. However, over the last 3 decades, our field of dermatology has undergone a huge transformation and every year, we see an increasing number of delegates attending this prestigious event. Organizing such an important and huge congress in a non-metro city is a challenging task. However, I am sure that with the help of our dedicated team members, we can make it a signature event and set an example for the youngsters to carry forward the legacy. The theme of the conference is “TRADITION TO TECHNOLOGY”. The scientific sessions will showcase it perfectly well to suit the needs of attending delegates in a city, which also is a perfect blend of age-old traditions and immense technological advancements. Globalisation knocked on Pune's doors in the 1990s. However, charm of the bygone historical era has still been retained in a few old buildings and peths, bringing about a pleasant co-existence of old and the new. A warm city in a cooler climate, Pune boasts of having many important religious, historical, and tourist attractions of the region like Khandala, Matheran, and Mahabaleshwar. Some of the famous hill forts of the Marathas, such as Sinhagad, Rajgad, Torna are trekers paradise. Yesteryears cycle city is regaining its charm and is chosen for a smart city project. The conference will be hosted at Laxmi Lawns, Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Pune which has close proximity to airport & railway station and has many good staying options in the vicinity. Delegate comfort will be our top priority and I am sure the venue arrangements will make it absolutely smooth for each and everyone participating in the conference. Well balanced academic sessions, interesting non-academic events, and some unique ideas will be the highlights of this conference. The whole of Team Pune is rallying to give their very best to make your experience of DERMACON 2020 memorable. Looking forward to meeting you all in Pune in 2020. Warm Regards, Dr. Narendra Patwardhan Organizing Chairperson 07 | www.dermacon2020pune.com

Organizing Secretary Welcome Address Pune Team, along with scientific team extends a warm welcome to all the participants for the prestigious national conference “DERMACON 2020” which is the 48th conference of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists, and Leprologists. The host city Pune is known for its uniqueness in the field of education, pleasant weather, typical Puneri characters and many more. From “Cycle City, now ready to become a Metro City, & from Wada Sanskruti to Skyscrapers”. Pune is called “Oxford of the East” i.e. parental home of knowledge with hundreds of well known educational institutes and most number of Universities. Also known as “The Detroit of East” with enterprising industries and the largest developing “IT” hub. Pune exhibits its natural beauty in abundance with the strong Sahyadris protecting it, making it a favorite trekking destination . It also has beautiful dams and rivers enriching it, making its presence on the tourist map as well. Pune is also a seat of music, art and theater, making it the “Cultural Capital of Maharashtra” since ages. As we see our traditional “Puneri Pagdi” carrying laptops and becoming tech savvy, how can our medical fraternity stay behind!!!!!! We, ”Team Pune” would like to showcase this transition through our theme “TRADITION TO TECHNOLOGY” at “DERMACON 2020”. Team Pune is eagerly waiting to receive you for DERMACON 2020. Dr. Pradyumna Vaidya Organizing Secretary 08 | www.dermacon2020pune.com
Chairman Scientific Committee Welcome Message On behalf of scientific and organising team we extend a warm welcome to all! DERMACON 2020 Pune is a special event for we Puneites. In a traditional city with rich heritage and rapid technological advancement we are eager to receive each and everyone of you for a scientific feast with unique theme “TRADITION TO TECHNOLOGY”. The scientific programme is a perfect blend of old and new therapies and technologies. Clinical dermatology is the basis of all new developments in the field of cosmetology and aesthetics. In this fast advancing era with newer technologies pouring in, we must have firm roots with strong clinical base. Keeping this in mind the entire C.M.E. will be focused on cases requiring indoor admissions. Many real life scenarios would be discussed in detail by a panel of experienced faculty. The key elements in day to day practice, acne, hair, pigmentary disorders will have special attention in focused sessions. They will be covered in single dedicated hall so as to make it convenient for the attending delegates. There is appropriate participation of faculty from other specialities like rheumatology, endocrinology, gynaecology and intensivists to give a more holistic approach to our understanding of the subject. Many interesting video workshops especially for procedural dermatology will give opportunity to delegates to learn and refine their techniques. Handling the emergencies, facing the medico legal issues has become necessary with changing social and practice trends. Sessions like basic life support, practice management and documentation will help us to cope up with our new demands. Along with academics a few interesting sessions to unwind and relax are also incorporated in the programme. National and international faculty of repute will share their experience and enrich us with recent trends and updates in the field. Perfect team work is a key for success of any event. Entire scientific team and organising committee have put in their best efforts to craft this programme. Our President Dr. P.
