Health and Safety • By accessing the Kingswood website you can read their full risk assessment. www.kingswood.co.uk • Kingswood has fully trained staff and is within an enclosed area. • There is first aid available at all times on site and a number of hospitals less than 30 minutes away.
Behaviour • We expect good behaviour throughout the residential trip as we do during the normal school week. Any child who breaks Kingswood’s rules, particularly those concerned with safety, may miss further activities or have their parents asked to come and collect them. • Any child who does not behave well in school can at any time be withdrawn from the trip.
Staffing • The number of staff going with the children depends on the amount of children on the trip. 30 children would require 3 members of staff, 40 children – 4 staff and so on.
Cost and Payment Arrangements • The cost for the trip will be £363 • Payments can be made in a variety of ways including through the Joinos System or with cash payments and a payment book through the school office. • At the end of the day tomorrow each child in Years 4 and 5 will take away a letter with a suggested payment schedule, including a date for the initial deposit to confirm your place and a layout of payments over the next 14 months. • The letter provides all relevant further information and will also include information for Pupil Premium children • Siblings: Kingswood offer 50% off for a second child. So if you have two children attending the trip you will pay the full cost for one child and half the cost for a second child.
Cancellation • The initial deposit of £60 will be non- returnable • If you decide to cancel after making a payment you will lose a % of the total paid. • The % you lose increases as the time passes. • This is all dictated by Kingswood and not ourselves.
What are the benefits? • Motivation, exhilaration and challenge. • Develop teamwork and increase self-confidence. • Sense of personal achievement. • Promotes independence. • Great opportunity to enjoy activities the children may not have had the chance to experience before. • One whole week of peace and quiet for parents and usually the weekend too. • Children working hard to please parents so they let the children go on the trip.
Team games help to build communication and cooperation skills.
Jacob’s Ladder
Daily room inspections help to keep the children's belongings in order. There are prizes for the best kept dorms.
They even have ice cream there!!
The Teachers work really had to make sure everyone has a fantastic time…
They never stop...
Alert and ready for action at all times, almost!
The next step • All children in Years 4 and 5 will tomorrow be receiving a letter giving information about booking a place on the trip. • The letter gives information about the process and a break down of the payment schedule. • We believe that this trip is a fantastic opportunity for the children and hope that as many of them as possible are able to come and enjoy the trip.
As a school, we feel that this trip offers a huge amount for children and can have a huge impact on their confidence, self esteem and well being. We would love to take the full 180 children so would ask that despite the cost, you give it some serious consideration. Questions?
