DUAL CREDIT Steps to Enroll • Each year you must complete an enrollment form and turn it into Step 1 Apply to SJC via Mrs. Carter by the due date. applytexas.org • Summer and Fall enrollment Step 2 TSI Testing ends in March. Step 3 Meningitis Vaccination • Spring enrollment ends in Step 4 Enrollment form November. • Dual credit students are not permitted to enroll in classes online on the San Jacinto College website. All enrollment is initiated through the counseling office at the high school. • Late forms will not be accepted.
TSI TESTING AT SOUTH • All juniors should have taken the TSI TSI College Ready Scores • Reading, Writing & Math scores will be used Reading 351 for placement in College Prep Math & Math 350 College Prep English for Senior Year Writing 340 • Achieving College Ready scores ensures that you're ready for freshman level classes Essay at college March May All Juniors test with Juniors can retest with Mrs. Driskell. Mrs. Butler-Carter. Students can retest @ Students who have not SJC to achieve college scored college ready will ready scores to enroll in receive a letter with dual credit. APPLYING TO COLLEGE www.applytexas.org Go online today to create your account Application opens 7/1/2019 Do not wait to submit your application on the College deadline date.
COLLEGE & SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS Submit online if available CHECK your spelling and Type everything unless it specifies grammar hand written. Triple check before submitting If you can’t type it, write in black/blue ink ONLY and NEATLY. Tell your story-essays Ask for help and have someone proof Be unique and sell yourself all applications Read the essay and answer the question Provide details
TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS • Complete college application and submit application first! This opens your student file at your college. • Next, request transcript be sent in your Naviance account OR from the Registrar link on Counselors’ webpage to submit to colleges. • Check your email frequently to communicate with college admissions. • Colleges will see your GPA and all of your grades on transcript from 9th-11th grade.

RECOMMENDATION LETTERS Only request a recommendation letter if your college requires one. Check on your college website or Naviance Request letter at least 2 weeks before due date and be specific about why you need it (admissions, scholarships) You may make requests in Naviance. Request letters from people who know you well Colleges prefer letters from Teachers vs Counselors unless your counselor knows you very well Provide a Resume or Senior brag sheet along with the request Send a Thank you!
