DECEMBER 2018 Class & Group Descriptions Body, Mind, and Spirit The innate wisdom, power and abilities that we ALL carry with us will be demystified in this most revelatory classroom experience. Learn about discovery all about your authentic self, achieving balance in your life, and true calling through powerful techniques and self-knowledge. Everything from harnessing energy through crystals, oils and meditation; to setting boundaries, goals and being of maximum service to yourself and others. Caterpillar to Butterfly: Ready to move ahead? Need help navigating this ride we call life? This class can help edu- cate you on the coping skills necessary to let go and learn to live again. Whether it be loss, a major change in our lives, or something we’ve never encountered before, let’s get together and learn how to make strides! Chocolate Milk & Conversation: Sometimes it’s nice to enjoy chocolate milk and chat with new people. This class is all about making connections with like-minded people and experiencing the simple pleasures of life. Computer Basics is a course that's designed specifically for those who are completely new to computers or who feel they need to have more instruction to navigate around computers. This class is designed to help anyone feel more comfortable with basic technology. Cooking Class: The cooking class is run by Chia and Reggie on alternative weeks. The cooking class is an oppor- tunity for people to learn how to make good meals that are inexpensive and tasty. The instructor makes the meal in the class (a different one each week), walking people through each step. Participants are given the menu and shop- ping list, and, of course, the chance to eat samples to see how they like it. Creativity & Spirituality: A time to creatively express our Divine connection to Love and explore our emotional, physical and spiritual relationships with ourselves and others. DBSA: Depression and bipolar disorder can be isolating illnesses, but Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance sup- port groups can help you connect with others who have been there as well. Don’t Overthink It: This class focuses on strategies for reducing stress and keeping it simple. Come learn how not to over think life situations and put things in perspective. Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA): A 12 step support group for people who experience both addictions and mental health challenges. Dude’s Day: This is a gathering time to explore current topics in the masculine realm. The intention of this group is to expand from a balanced space with compassion and love. Financial Empowerment: This 2-hour class, presented by Common Wealth Charlotte, will teach you about manag- ing your finances, raising your credit score, how not to get ripped off when borrowing for a car or home, how you can open a new checking and saving account, and Common Wealth Charlotte’s Opportunity Loan. Get Moving Discover multiple paths to physical wellness, while becoming empowered, strong and your most vi- brant self! Through various exercise modalities that include using a treadmill, cardio workouts, yoga, free weights, meditation, and attention to healthy eating, we will explore fun ways to approach personal wellness. Healthy Living This interactive class focuses on wellness strategies for your body, mind and spirit, as well as ways to overcome obstacles to healthy living by utilizing local community resources. Improv This class uses movement and voice based drills, scene work, and group exercises to dive into improvisa- tion. The goal of this class is to make participants more confident in their everyday situations, and HAVE FUN! 12.3.18
Just For Today: This class will help you focus on today. Just for today, you can choose to be happy by adjusting yourself to what is, strengthening your mind, learning something useful, exercising your soul, saving yourself from hurry and indecision, making self-care a priority and choosing not to be afraid and to see the beauty around you. Keep Your Power The good bad and ugly of our emotions. This class qualifies for 10 hours towards a Certified Peer Support Specialist certification. Let’s Stay Together: This class is designed to cultivate skills to create healthy boundaries for intimate, family and friend relationships. We discuss ways to develop closeness with others. We also explore the effects of substance use and trauma on relationships and how to overcome the need to do things the way we have always done them. LGBTQI Group: This is a support group for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender community members. We provide an accepting space to discuss difficulties, receive encouragement and increase a support network. This group is also open to allies, family, supports and friends. Men’s Group The Men’s group is comprised of Men in recovery who come together to bring up issues important to them and interact with each other in a group setting. Mindfulness Through the examination of mindful theories, practical applications and self study we will get to the root of any suffering, stress or anxiety and watch your thoughts and attitude shift from the negative towards the pos- itive as we work to manifest your highest and best self! Overcoming: This class can help you develop the skills to overcome the struggles of life. They may be small or big, simple or complex, physical, emotional, or situational, but we all have hurdles that need jumping. Join us! PRN Perks: This class is designed for newcomers and will introduce you to the classes and programs that are of- fered at PRN, as well as provide an opportunity for you to voice your comments and concerns. Recovery Today: This class explores different recovery approaches to help people define their own recovery. Seeking Safety: Seeking Safety is an education created for people experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and substance use issues that is open to everyone. This class promotes wellness and can help anyone get through difficult days. This is a ten-module course using a nationally recognized curriculum. Upon Shift Happens: Learn how to shift your perspective to overcome the challenges of everyday life. Thinking About Recovery: This class focuses on recovery strategies that build self esteem. Town Hall: This is an opportunity for people to share suggestions and voice concerns to improve the Recovery Hub. Tuesday’s Special: Every Tuesday is a different adventure in recovery. We have everything from how “How Big is Your But?” to Conflict Resolution. Come for the fun stay for info. Visioning Your Recovery & Wellness: Create a vision board, a collage of motivational images and powerful words drawn or clipped from magazines, to help you get clear on what you need and want for your life to benefit you. Wellness With Wells: This class explores the building of sustained health and wellness through recovery strategies that connect to the eight dimensions of our wellness. Women’s Group: The Women’s Group is comprised of women in recovery who come together to bring up issues important to them and interact with each other in a group setting. Work Works: PRN believes that WORK WORKS, so in this class our goal is to show you how to WORK IT!!! Let us help you discover the tools that you need to grow and discover the healing power of employment. Yoga: Every Thursday, Casey Miller, leads a gentle yoga class that provides an opportunity to slow down, calm the mind, and ease the body of tension. No experience required: everyone is welcome!
