The tours in San Telmo are available every Wednesday and Saturday starting at 12 pm The tour is spoken in English by a native. There is no pick up service; the meeting point is at the first restaurant. Highlights: Visit to traditional restaurants and “bodegones” to enjoy the Asado (Argentine BBQ) The Parrilla Tour is a true culinary adventure that will take us to restaurants and “bodegones” that are outside the tourist circuit of the city, where locals eat the best Asados (Argentine BBQ). During the tour, besides visiting authentic porteños places, you will learn about the local culture and the variety of traditional foods. Highlights: Traditional bar “El Progreso”, Carlos Gardel Monument, “Casa Carlos Gardel” Museum, Carlos Gardel Mausoleum, “La Ideal” bar, "World Tango" Museum, Traditional “Café Tortoni” This tour will give you the opportunity to trace the roots and the origins of Tango. We will take you through places where the tango has left its mark and where even today you can take pleasure in the music and the dance. We will visit those places where the great master of this art, Carlos Gardel, lived and made his music which left a trace in the music history. As a starting point, we will go around the mystique neighborhood of Abasto, where we will find the genesis and roots of tango. We will visit the famous traditional bar “El Progreso” where Carlos Gardel made his first steps. We will also visit the controversial monument of Carlos Gardel, placed in the picturesque corner of the street that takes his name. Along the way, we will discover the history and meaning of "fileteado art" at Zelaya Street. Afterwards, we will visit the Casa Carlos Gardel Museum, which was the last house of the famous singer, bought by himself to be close to his mother, Bertha Gardes. This museum is not only dedicated to the life of Gardel but also the tango history in general. Other important place we will visit, is his mausoleum in the iconic Chacarita Cemetery. There is much more history of other tango celebrities in this place, such as Anibal Troilo, the best bandoneon player in the local scene, and the great tango writer Agustín Magaldi. Our next stop will be another remarkable bar, called "La Ideal". We will enjoy a drink while we delight ourselves watching the locals dancing tango, as a usual every day task. If you are a fan, this is the place to try! A spot that can´t be missed, is the "World Tango" Museum, located at the 1st floor of the National Tango Academy. The museum tells the tango history from 1850 until today. It exhibits historic objects belonging to the greatest tango interpreters and mentors, a collection of scores, original record covers, manuscripts, objects and CDs of the best artists in the local scene. A photographic exhibition , by Annemarie Heinrich, is exhibited there, and it´s related to the famous tango figures and also themed motion pictures are showcased too. Our last stop will be another remarkable cafe, where many of Buenos Aires artistic and intellectual characters, enjoyed long hours: Café Tortoni. In this place, time seems to have stood still like an old photograph, when people used to come here to play billiards, cards, or just to share a coffee with friends. Highlights: Visit to 2 traditional Milongas, learn to dance Tango with a taxi dancer at your disposal Deeply rooted in Argentinean culture, tango has fascinated and captivated the world with its sexuality, power and beauty. During this experience you will have the opportunity to visit two or three traditional “Milongas” (venues where locals attend to dance tango)accompanied by a professional taxi dancer who will teach you how to dance tango or at least basic steps so you can blend in the hall. Also will inform you about the history and interesting facts of this eternal dance. It is not necessary to be a professional you will find a good mix of ages and levels of dancers. Each Milonga is different, some of them are very formal, where single men and women sit separately and only ask people to dance using the “cabeceo” (a funny system of asking for and accepting dances using your head and eye contact). Others have dance performances or live music with orchestra almost every night. Here, we’ll make take some time to walk the mythical Caminito Street, which sums up everything that gives La Boca its distinctive spirit: the strong passion for soccer, the heavy presence of art and color, and the Tango-like atmosphere. After this stop, we will continue to the Recoleta area. From the bus, we will enjoy the view of the modern Puerto Madero neighborhood, with its skyscrapers and Woman’s Bridge. Once in Recoleta, one of the most elegant neighborhoods, we will learn about the dream of our local aristocrats in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when they sought to build a small-scale Paris in the heart of Buenos Aires. Argentinean Stadiums Tour Shared SIB tour. Available every day. Meeting point at San Telmo or Florida Street - Bilingual Tour Guide River Plate and Boca Juniors Stadiums tickets are included. Highlights: Tickets for Boca Juniors and River Plate museums The intention of this tour is not only to visit the most important football stadiums in Argentina, but also to learn their story and the way they grew through time, in parallel to Argentinean history. Boca Juniors Stadium: You will start the tour observing the church where Diego Maradona got married to his ex-wife in 1989. Next, you will visit the southern neighborhoods and the first stop will be the mythical Boca Juniors stadium: La Bombonera. With a simple glance at the surrounding area, you will notice that the passion for football is everywhere. Inside Boca Juniors’ stadium you will visit the preferential seats, the popular terrace that holds the mythical 12 (the player number 12), the local changing rooms (that date from 1978) and you will finish in a stand from where you will see Diego Maradona's box. River Plate Stadium: At noon we will take the north way of the city and minutes later we will know where the second official stadium of River Plate was placed. Our stop is at El Monumental, in Nuñez neighborhood. There, we will walk around the stadium and see part of the district, the Federal Shooting Club and the access gates. Then, we will visit the River Plate Museum, one of the newest and most modern museums of our country. We will start in the Module of Temporal Translation, which shows the glory that River harvested since 1901, the year of its foundation. We will learn the history of the club, and know its stars and the most important qualifications obtained. Then, we will visit the stadium, which gives visitors the impression of being a social and sports club, more than a football one.
