HEALTH REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATE OF VETERINARY INSPECTION All horses being exhibited at the Nebraska State Fair must meet all of the equine heath requirements prior to entering the Nebraska State Fairgrounds or at unloading time, which are found at the following link: 2021 Equine & Equine Event Livestock Health Requirements. Equine Superintendent/Barn Manager at 308-289-6511. EQUINE EXHIBITOR RULES & REGULATIONS The Nebraska State Fair General Equine Information, Rules & Regulations apply to this and every department. Please refer to these sections. By submitting entry to the Nebraska State Fair, you agree to and will abide by these rules. ENTRIES The Dash for Cash Barrel Racing will be accepting online entries with Google Docs under Nebraska State Fair Dash for Cash. Mail in entries will also be accepted, by clicking on the Entry form on the Nebraska State Fair website, statefair.org. Click on the Competitions & Participate tab: Click GO under Competitions, Click GO under Equine Exhibitors: Scroll down to Equine Entry books: Dash for Cash Barrel Racing. Mail the completed entry form to Dixie Engelke, 21031 H Road, Athol, KS 66932.
STATE FAIR AWARDS Premiums totaling $4,000.00 Added Money Buckles BBR sanctioned Payback 75% payback on entry fees 100% payback on ADDED Money Slot Race- Pay Back $100 of Entry Fee Awards Added Money Buckles – Average Winner for 2 runs Check and Awards will be mailed out August 31, 2021 to allow time to double check results. ENTRY FEES Office Fee $15.00 (per rider / one time) Stall/ Jump Out Fee $35.00 (per horse, No exceptions, No tie-outs and No building pens) Tack Stall Fee $35.00 (per horse) Exhibitor Ticket $5.00 (per day, per person) Exhibitor Wristband $25.00 (11-day pass) Parking Pass $15.00 for single day & $25 for multi-day (per vehicle) BARREL RACE FEES *$1500 Added to each open race* Open Race: $40.00 (must run in the Open and Roll Times to Senior or Youth) $15.00 per rider / (one time office fee) ➢ Youth - $25.00 (18 & Under) ➢ Senior - $25.00 (50 & Over) (Age of rider as of January 1, 2021) Slot Race 3D: (Monday Only) ➢ Must Enter Open Race ➢ $125 Entry Fee, Payback $100 ➢ Can roll slot race time to open
PARKING Parking inside the fairgrounds requires a permit to enter. This permit must be requested on the entry form or may be purchased at the Equine Check-In Trailer (which is located on the East side of the grounds, off Stuhr Road) and is for the sole use of the exhibitor. Parking permits are $15.00 for exhibitors. All vehicles must have an exhibitor parking pass affixed to the driver’s side of the front windshield. Parking passes are good for the entire run of the fair. All trucks and trailers will be required to park in designated areas. Fair Management assumes no obligation or liability for any theft or damage that may occur to the vehicle or its contents. DAY PARKING FOR THE DASH FOR CASH BARREL RACING will park behind (NORTHSIDE) of the THOMPSON FOODS OPEN AIR ARENA (outdoors). STALLS / GROUND FEES 1. The Horses will be stalled in the R Barn. 2. Stall assignments will be made by the Barrel Racing Superintendent(s). In the case of a shortage, the Superintendent(s) will have the right to reassign pens, tack pens, etc. 3. All horses occupying stalls must be pay a stall fee whether entered for competition and judged. Stalls will not be assigned or available unless stall fees are accompanied. DOG POLICY Due to requirements of the liability insurance carrier and policy of all major livestock shows, NO dogs are allowed on the Nebraska State Fairgrounds, in parking lots or in buildings other than those for direct competition or service animals. All dogs must be on a leash. There shall be no loose or unattended dogs on the fairgrounds. No dogs will be permitted in the animal barns, in tie outs or the Midway, except during authorized events and sanctioned dog shows. Dogs entered in Nebraska State Fair special performances or competitive events will be allowed on grounds or in buildings during performance or competition only. SHOW RULES 1. Classes will be governed by the rules of General Equine Information, Rules & Regulations and Equine & Equine Event Livestock Health Requirements. 2. BBR Sanctioned 3. Pre-entries MUST be postmarked by August 15, 2021 and once the draw is posted there will be NO REFUNDS. You can sell you spot but it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to let the office know what changes have been made by Race 1 @ 3:00 PM (NO EXCEPTIONS) 4. Returned check fee is $50.00. 5. We encourage pre-entries to save time on race day. We cannot separate multiple horses as well on race day. 6. Entries close 2 hours before race starts. 7. MUST have horses name, NO horse 1 or horse 2 allowed. MUST run where you draw up. 8. You may substitute a horse but need to notify office 2 hours before race. 9. Contestant has 60 seconds to get in the arena to make their run. 10. Three (3) call rule will apply, if not in the arena after the third (3rd) call, you will be disqualified. 11. A hit/knocked down barrel results in a NO TIME. 12. Broken pattern or loss of forward motion will result in a NO TIME. 13. In case of a tie, we will split the monies won and flip for the ties involving buckles or plaques. 14. No reruns will be given if horse falls, is pulled up by rider or tack malfunctions. 15. An electric timer will be used for all runs. In the event of a timer failure, a re-ride will be granted. 16. Big drag every 50 runs.
17. ANIMIAL ABUSE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. No excessive whipping, or spurs and NO strikes to the horse’s ears, eyes or face with anything other than the hand, either in the arena or on the grounds will be tolerate. Abuse will result in a $100 fine. 18. Dress code will be enforced. Western attire. NO jeans with holes or slits, collared shirts, cowboy hat or helmet and western boots. Keep backside covered during you runs please. 19. You can share a horse in the same race if IMMEDIATE family with same address only. 20. Buckle Qualification – same horse / rider combo: MUST ride in 2 open races to qualify ➢ Based off Average Times ➢ For open runs only 21. Slot Race ➢ Buckles to Division winners ➢ Must enter Open Race on Monday, August 30th. ➢ Can roll Slot Race time to Open ARENAS Shows will be held in the US FOODS OUTDOOR ARENA.
