COMPETITION
Horse and rider will compete in a set course to demonstrate their
skills, it is a timed event so it also demonstrates their speed and
control. A course will be set that includes reversing, side passing,
whip cracking, bending, jumping and a few other obstacles.

JUNIOR JUDGING BEEF CATTLE

RULES & REGULATIONS:
a) Competitors must be over 15 and under 25 years of age on 1st May in the year of the State Final at
   the Royal Easter Show.
b) To be eligible to compete for Group Finals, competitors must live and/or work in the district for three
    months, or be enrolled at a secondary or tertiary institution in the area.
c) No competitor can represent more than one show society in any one Group Final and no more than
   one group in a State Final. The winners of a National Final cannot compete at any level in the
   particular competition that they won.
d) Competitors will be eliminated from the competition if deemed by the chief steward to be receiving
   outside assistance.

PROCEDURE
1. Three classes of animals are judged by competitors, each class consisting of a different breed.
   If cattle available provide for only one or two classes, competition may still be conducted with
   appropriate adjustment to scoring.
2. Animals in each class must be identified by “breastplates ” numbered 1-4, (not A,B,C,D) with
   relevant age, weights and measurements on them (if available).This is essential when using the
   Hormel Computing Slide.
3. The oral class of 4 animals will be nominated by the Overjudge or Chief Steward before judging
   commences.

COMPETITION TIMING
From the point of view of the competitors, the animals and the spectators, it is important that
the whole competition be completed in approximately one hour.
In the case of 3 classes of animals being used, the timing would be as follows:

• Judging 3 classes             - 8 minutes each
• Competitors’ oral tests       - 3 minutes each

3. Right to inspect gardens of exhibitors. The committee reserves the right to visit gardens before or
   after the Show from which plants or flowers have been entered for competition.
4. Constitution of an exhibit: Where a number of plants or flowers is specified in the Schedule for a
   class, neither more nor less than the number may be shown, and an exhibit will be disqualified by
   an excess or deficiency.
5. In all classes where cut material is shown, all stems must reach the water in the receptacle.
6. All exhibits should be named; errors in naming will not be disqualified, but this can count in very
   close competition.
7. Any prize may be withheld or modified if the exhibits are considered unworthy of prize offered.
8. Judge’s decisions on the relative merit of exhibits shall be final.

The naming of blooms before judging is desirable. Dahlia Standards: All blooms 160 mm and
over to be staged one per vase. All blooms under 160 mm to be staged three per vase.
Minatures must be under 120mm.
NOTE: A vase is any container or bottle suitable for staging dahlias.

  number of the maker and size of quilt. If the quilt is over 200cm wide a centre split in the hanging
  sleeve is advised to allow extra support for the quilt and the hanging rod.
  Any quilt without a hanging pocket properly attached will not be hung.

  Insursnce cover, if desired, is the responsibility of the quiltmake.

Note: Judges in previous years have asked for a ‘story’ regarding the quilt, e.g: Name of pattern or
your own design, fabric theme, whether quilt was a kit or made as part of a class etc. If your quilt is
being judged could you please attach a ‘story’ to the back of the quilt. Quilts made from a pattern or
based on another quilt should be acknowledged.
