CZECH HISTORY • From time immemorial, many tribes and then various empires settled here like Celts, Teutons, Samo's empire and other... • The independent Czech Republic was established on 1.1. 1993 • Before we were connected with Slovakia. • Our name was Czechoslovakia

CZECH HISTORY
Our state has experienced with both world wars, but
we still have a lot of old monuments
like Charles Bridge, Prague Castel and more
We also have many inventors :
• Otto Wichterle - contact lenses (1887)
• František Křizík - arc lamp ( 19th century)
• Josef Ressel – propeller (1827)
We also have many famous writers :
• *Božena Němcová – Babička (The grandma)
(1855)
• Josef Čapek – Pejsek a kočička (The cat and dog)
(1927)
• Eduard Petiška – Krteček (The little mole) (1962)
THE CZECH REPUBLIC Population • In the Czech Republic lives about 10,65 million people, but about 2 million of them live in the capital, Prague. The population is made of 69,4% Czech people and the rest are other nationalities. Prague • Prague is the capital and the largest city of the Czech Republic and 13th largest city in the EU. It is divided by the river Vltava that flows through. The main two parts of Prague are connected by Charles Bridge.

OSTRAVA CITY • Founded in 1267 The city is in the north-east of the Czech Republic, and it's the capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It has about 288,000 inhabitants. • Ostrava is the third largest city in the Czech Republic in terms of the population and the area. And the second largest city in the region of Moravia.
OSTRAVA CITY • However, remnants of the city's industrial past are visible in the Lower area of Vítkovice • Former of coal-mining, coal coke production and ironworks complex in the city centre, which retains its historical industrial architecture

each year join in and run in
the middle of the night (10km).

vehicle and want them to be seen by other people.

CZECH EASTER TRADITIONS • We paint the eggs. • We bake the Easter lamb. • We go whipping the girls and pour water over them.
CZECH CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS • We put pumps from a walnut shell into the container with water. • We pour lead into water. • We cut apples and there is a star inside.
CZECH FOOD • In our country we love every meat • we have also a lot of soups like potato soup, mushroom soup, … • In our country we have also some sweets like our special gingerbread • And what makes our country popular? Drinking and making beer, because it's our favourite drink
