By Sonia, Elisa and Anthony of Mrs. McCarty’s 4th grade class. “Oh, the places we’ll go!” declared the students at Olivewood. COVID has Alex Perez created hurdles for our Principal world, but students are fearlessly racing toward their dreams, one goal at a time. At the beginning of the year, students took a survey about the multiple intelligences. The students embraced their individual intelligences, researched career options, and wrote about their future goals. Sonia shared, “I want to use my intelligence to become a lawyer”. Anthony wrote,” I will reach my goal of becoming a chef because I will try my best, and I will work hard each day.” Elisa declared, “I want to use my smarts to become a doctor to help people who are sick. If I want to go places I will need to read books, be confident, and stay healthy.” Olivewood students are inspired about their futures. She has worked in SVUSD for just over 6 years. She started her teaching journey at Del Cerro, Jennifer Kajdasz but has been at Rancho Canada Principal for the past 6 years mainly teaching 5th grade. What is her favorite subject to teach? Math because she knows how difficult math can be for students. She enjoys seeing those lightbulb moments with students when it just “clicks”. She loves listening to all of their strategies for problem solving and thinks it’s incredible hearing how their brains work and think critically at such a young age. She readily admits that her students constantly teach her new ways of thinking. Her favorite part of teaching is the relationships she gets to build with her students. Mrs. Breidenbach fosters a safe community in her class and we are thankful to have her on staff! 18 www.schoolnewsrollcall.com
