DALTON AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS Digital Class Catalog Winter 2022
Welcome to the Dalton Virtual After School Programs Winter 2022 Brochure! This winter, After School programming will be live and in person! We continue to offer an eclectic range of class options in Dance, Comedy, Art, Music, Language, Chess, STEAM, and much more! The winter brochure includes all After School Program classes for grades K-6. In addition, there will be a select number of classes offered remotely for the upper middle school grades. You’ll find First Program classes at the beginning of the brochure and Middle School offerings located midway through the catalog.. The winter trimester runs from Monday, January 3-Friday, March 11. Classes typically meet once a week unless otherwise noted, for a total of 7-10 sessions depending on the day class is offered. Class times will vary depending on grade and are listed in the class descriptions. End times will reflect a natural staggered dismissal. Extended Care hours are available until 5:30 PM daily at First Program, Dalton East and Big Dalton. Registration begins on Saturday, November 20 at 11:00 AM and will take place on Dalton’s Campbrain system: https://dalton.myschoolapp.com/app/sso/auth/campbrain. All financial credits from previous terms will be reflected in your shopping cart upon registering. Spaces in classes will be extremely limited and class enrollment must be finalized by Sunday, December 12, so be sure to register early. First Program and Dalton East classes will be grade-specific to maintain grade-level cohorts. Classes at Big Dalton will be more flexible with grade groupings in larger spaces. Financial assistance is available commensurate with a family’s tuition assistance plan except where noted (see General Information Page). Register at https://dalton.campbrainregistration.com. Upon submitting your registration, you will receive an email confirmation. Registration will close on Sunday, December 12. We reserve the right to cancel any course if necessary, including but not limited to insuffi- cient enrollment. If a class is canceled, families will have the first priority to switch into another available course before late registration opens or receive a full refund or credit. Billing Payment is due upon submitting the registration form. Class totals will be reflected in your “Shopping Cart” and reflect financial aid percentages. All registrations will be required to pay a $25 registration fee (eligible for tuition assistance). Registration fees are non-refundable. Financial Aid Scholarships There is a maximum scholarship of 50% assistance on Dribbl, Gotham Tennis, Spark Business Academy, and Private Guitar Lessons. All other classes are eligible for full tuition assistance percentages assigned by the school. If you have not already received your Tuition Assistance Code, please contact Jennifer Beasmoney at jbeasmoney@dalton.org. Payment plans are also available to families on Tuition assistance. 4
General Information Winter 2022 Refunds: There are no refunds for enrolled classes after the start of the term. Dropped classes will receive 75% credit to their After School account after the 1st session. There are no refunds or credits after the 2nd session of a class has passed. There will be no refund if there is a substitution of any teacher. There will be no refunds due to weather related closures or natural occurrences. If the After School Program is advised to stop onsite programming, or if the school switches to online learning during the school year, After School classes will also continue to be conducted via Zoom. There are no refunds due to individual quarantine procedures. Accepted Payment Methods: Acceptable forms of payment are ACH (direct debit from bank account) or credit card. Payment by credit card will be subject to convenience fees of up to 3%. Credit card fees are non-refundable. Class Changes: All changes to enrolled classes must be made by email to jbeasmoney@dalton.org.and sgn@dalton.org on or before December 12 at no charge. Class withdrawals will be subject to the refund policy. Due to strict enrollment caps, we will not be able to accomodate all change requests. Late Registration: A non-refundable late registration fee of $25 will be applied on or after December 13. Late registration runs from December 15-January 14. Families who enroll during late registration will not be able to join classes until the following week. Fees will not be prorated due to late enrollment. 5
General Information Winter 2022 Policies: January 3, 2022-March 11, 2022 • Students at First Program, Dalton East, and Big Dalton must be picked-up when their after school class is dismissed or must be enrolled in the extended day program. • Students may be picked up at any time during the extended day programs but no later than 5:30. • Families may be asked to withdraw from the program if pick-up times are not honored. • Masks must be worn at all times, and students must remain socially distanced regardless of immunization status. • Class start and end times vary by grade and are noted to the left of the class descriptions. • Based on health and safety protocols, spaces in Fun House and Kids Club are strictly limited. Drop-ins to Fun House/ Kids Club must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance or the Friday before a Monday request. Drop-in spaces cannot be guaranteed. • If the School is compelled at any point during the trimester to move to remote learning After School will likewise conduct specialty classes over zoom. There will be no make-up sessions or hybrid options for classes missed by students or due to quarantine guidelines. • In the event that a teacher is unavoidably absent and no substitute is assigned, class time will be made up in subsequent classes by adding 15 minutes to four classes or one half hour to two classes. 6

Play outdoors and indoors, listen to stories, draw, work on the computer, watch a movie, do homework, and Class Times: have a snack. This exciting, newly minted craft workshop will feature K- 2:45- 4:00 PM 1: 2:55- 4:10 PM weekly themes to celebrate the seasons, special holidays, family 2: 3:05- 4:20 PM and school life, and other topical motifs! In addition, Story Circle will 3: 3:10- 4:25 PM provide special inspiration for our art projects. Instructors: Dorota Szczepankowski, Marvin Matthews, Katie Dieken, and TBA Fun House will have limited drop-ins. Cooperative games and sports designed for Kindergarten and First graders in a non-competitive environment. Class Time: 2:45-4:00 PM Over the course of the season, we will explore new games and play Grade: K old favorites, emphasizing teamwork, fair play, and FUN! Max 12 students Instructor: Adam Blake-Soden Songwriting Always wanted to write your own music but don’t know where to start? In songwriting, you will learn how to get started, what makes Class Time: 3:05-4:20 PM a great song, and how to write lyrics that scan to a melody that Grade: 2 you create! Students will either learn to write and record their own Max 10 students accompaniment parts or will write lyrics/melody and have a track Instructor: Sofia Campoamor with extra instruments added to their song. Each student will end the course with a recording of a brand new, original song they can keep forever and share with family and friends. Founded by Dalton Athletic Director and Boys Class Time: 2:55-4:10 PM Varsity Basketball Coach Teddy Frischling, the Dribbl program aims Grade: 1 to develop and refine court skills such as shooting, passing, Max 15 students footwork, and ball-handling – all with a strong emphasis on Instructor: Dribbl sportsmanship. *Max 50% tuition assistance available *NEW* Making Masks and This program consists of workshop-format activities in which recycled materials become art! Instructor: Nitai Leve and Jerald Times *NEW* Drawing and Motion: Walt Disney animation was once considered a world of magic. Now the secret of how “the magic is made” is out! With the power of World of Animation pencil and paper, you will learn the fundamentals of making Class Time: 3:05-4:20 PM drawings and putting them into motion, using the same techniques Grade: 2 that industry professionals use to create the amazing features of Max 8 students today! First Program Winter 2022 Class Descriptions - Wednesdays WEDNESDAYS Hip Hop Develop your creative expression in this energetic dance class! Each class will consist of an upbeat warm-up, simple stretching, Class Time: 2:45-4:00 PM and weekly work on our dance combinations. We will learn exciting Grade: K Hip Hop moves in addition to exploring the basics of Jazz and Step Max 10 students dance. All these dance styles are fun and exciting forms of Instructor: Joi Jackson self-expression. This is the perfect class for those who love popular music, are feeling extra creative, and are eager to learn to move to the beat! Mini-Musical Calling all aspiring singers, actors and dancers! Come explore the wonders of Broadway and Musical Theatre as you learn and Class Time: 2:55-4:10 PM perform selections from Peter Pan as a mini-musical! Students will Grade: 1 even design and create their own costumes! Students will be Max 10 students working on Peter Pan throughout the term. In this Max 12 students after school, you will engage in the exciting and fun world of 3D Instructor: David Lindo designing and printing. We will use Tinkercad and Ultimaker Cura to prototype and create physical objects. Students will take home their physical creations: a scientific device, an architecture building, an artistic sculpture, and their favorite toy! 26
