Visit Matera with a Local Expert for an in-depth exploration of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sassi - a labyrinth of cave dwellings, churches, staircases and arches, hewn out of the solid rock. You may recognise Matera as the biblical backdrop for the film ‘The Passion of the Christ.’ Your journey continues with rolling green hills and wide mountain views paving the way, as you head towards the Tyrrhenian Sea. ON TO ILL-FATED POMPEII AND ROME.
Journey north to the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, eerily preserved by the eruptions of Mount Vesuvius
in A.D. 79. Your Local Expert walks you through cobbled streets to explore some of the shops, villas and
temples. Witness the colourful frescoes that were hidden for centuries. Continue beneath the brooding
hilltop monastery of Monte Cassino and back to Rome where your journey reaches its zenith in the
evening. In the heart of the Eternal City, you are treated to a quintessential Italian experience – fine food,
wine, music and a private performance of enchanting operetta for your Celebration Dinner.

I think too many days were spent in Alberobello. I could have missed Capri altogether given that the seas didn't allow trips to the grottoes. I also don't think your large travel booklet is clear in explaining how many excursions are optional, requiring extra fees. I would have liked to gone to Ravello. Service: The tour director was efficient and excellent. There were problems that even he couldn't fix, such as a lack of warm water at a hotel. 15 October, 2018 TRIP: SERVICE: Trip: Great tour and opportunity to see areas in Southern Italy (Puglia, Capri and the Amalfi Coast) Service: The 'customer service' was excellent including the travel director Caroline Pugsley, the itinerary, coach driver, optional tours. The accommodation in Rome, Alberobello and Capri were excellent, but the one night at the Hotel Club in Sorrento was a big disappointment. However, the optional dinner that night at St. Agata was exceptional, as was the final dinner together in Rome. 15 October, 2018 TRIP: SERVICE: Trip: The drive to Alberobello was long and not enough to see and do there. Trulli homes were interesting but not worth the time. Longer time in Amalfi and less hours on bus. Service: We had a wonderful time on our trip to Italy. Our tour guide Caroline was friendly and informative and keep the group on time. She was flexible when we wanted to make a personal accommodation deviating from the itinerary. Wish we had more time along Amalfi Coast. 12/27/2018 Country Roads of Puglia & the Neapolitan Riviera (Summer 2019) | Insight Vacations Service: The places we saw and visited, our Tour Director and Bus driver were awesome.The meals and breakfasts were delightful as well as the extra treats such as the cocktail hour on the Isle of Capri. This was one of the most memorable vacations I have ever experienced. 14 October, 2018 TRIP: SERVICE: Trip: very good. The highlight however was not on the original itinerary. It was the 2 nights on Capri which maybe should be something for you to consider for this particular vacation package Service: Customer service was very good. Only complaint was the accommodation in Sorrento at the Hotel Club. This was no where near the quality I was expecting. I understand problems occur but certainly you could have found something better. TAUCK had a similar situation happen in Ireland but they found another amazing property for us to stay at and also gave us the choice of a free spa treatment, skeet shooting, or archery lessons (at no additional cost!) That was "customer service" 14 October, 2018 TRIP: SERVICE: Trip: covered a lot of territory, excellent tour guide Service: good customer service. Service: All aspects of our tour were marvelous. We had a great tour guide who managed the 40-person group impeccably. Would have appreciated a day in a Rome to tour and some leisure time. Puglia was lovely and most enjoyable. The Neapolitan coast is fantastic, not to be missed. Service: All aspects in regard to customer service were exemplary. 03 October, 2018 TRIP: SERVICE: Trip: We loved the unique experience of southern Italy. Service: Our guide, Caroline, was fantastic and made our trip even better than expected. 02 October, 2018 TRIP: SERVICE: Trip: Perfect choices, unique to the region, with excellent local guides. Service: Superb. We were in the capable hands of Caroline Pugsley, who charmingly and capably led us on the trip of a lifetime. Kudos to whoever selected our hotels and guided experiences. The itinerary was perfect...we fell like we could never have visited Alberobello, Matera and Ostuni with the same level of interest or understanding on our own.
