CONTINUING EDUCATION Guidelines Education Services is committed to providing quality educational programming to meet the needs of the employees of St. Boniface Hospital (SBH). Guidelines have been created to maximize our ability to provide these services most efficiently to all our employees. Registration Registration methods and deadlines vary depending on the course. Most require registration to occur on the Manitoba eHealth Learning Management System (LMS). A few courses allow telephone registration. Please read course descriptions carefully to ensure a successful registration. Registration Cancellation If you register for a course on the LMS, you must cancel your course on the LMS. To cancel your LMS course, find the course you want to cancel on your LMS “Learning Plan” and select the “cancel” button. You will get a confirmation email informing you that you have cancelled. If you have registered for your course by telephone, please call the same number to cancel. Last Minute Cancellation: Regardless of the method of registration, call Betty Thomson at 204.237.2231 when cancelling your registration on the day of the course. Cancellation of the Class Education Services reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration or sudden facilitator unavailability. We are committed to providing you with as much notice as we possibly can. The notification may be delivered by an automated email to your work email address via the LMS. Tuition Fees The majority of the courses listed are free to SBH employees and students. If a course requires the attendee to pay a fee to cover instructional material, it will be listed on the course description and must be paid prior to the course. Payment and receipt of tuition fees will be issued through Education Services (room N2040). Aggression and Violence in Healthcare ALL STAFF ARE INVITED TO ATTEND Facilitator: Joël Préjet Continuing Education Instructor Mental Health The number of verbal and physically aggressive and abusive acts against St. Boniface Hospital health care providers has been steadily increasing in recent years. French Language Training ALL STAFF WHO MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND Learn to speak French for work. French Language Training tailored for your work environment is available to permanent SBH staff who have regular direct contact with patients, residents, clients and/or the general public. Not only will you learn day-to-day vocabulary, verbs, pronunciation, reading and writing but you will do so with a Health component to help you in your daily work tasks and situations. This is also a great networking opportunity for you and your colleagues. Classes are 3 hours each and are offered once a week over an 11-week period. Sessions are offered three times a year: • Fall session – September to December • Winter session – January to March • Spring session – April to June The courses are taught by the Université de Saint-Boniface and are sponsored by Santé en français; however there is a $50 tuition fee. Registration Form How to Register Registration for all classes is done on the Manitoba eHealth Learning Management System (LMS) unless otherwise specified. You can access the LMS at https://manitoba-ehealth.learnflex.net/include/login.asp You will receive a confirmation email informing you that you have successfully registered. Cancelling your Registration Cancellation for all classes registered in the LMS must be cancelled by the user on the LMS. Find the course you want to cancel on your LMS “Learning Plan” and selecting the “cancel” button. You will get a confirmation email informing you that you have cancelled. Cancellation of the Class by Education Services Education Services reserves the right to cancel a program due to insufficient registration or if the facilitator cannot fulfill his/her commitment. We realize that this can be inconvenient for registrants and we will make every effort to provide as much advance notice as possible. If you register for a course in the LMS that is restricted to employees from a specific program to which you do not belong, registration will be monitored by the course administrator and your registration may be cancelled.
