The Italian Association for Population Studies (SIS-AISP) is pleased to welcome you to the 14th edition of the Giornate di Studio sulla Popolazione 2023 (Population Days 2023). Population Days, held every two years, is one of the most important initiatives of the Italian Association for the Study of Population (SIS-AISP). Italian and international leading experts and scholars, mainly from academia, the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) and other national and governmental agencies, come together to present completed, planned, and ongoing research. This edition sees the participation of the Italian Geographical Society and of the Spanish Association of Historical Demography (ADEH) whose President and Vice President will give their keynote speech in the introductory plenary session. CONFERENCE LOCATIONS THE VENUE PopDays2023 Conference will take place at Department of Political Sciences of Roma TRE University, via Gabriello Chiabrera, 199, Roma. Parallel Sessions: at the Department of Political Sciences. Rooms 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D and ‘Aula tesi’ are located on the 2nd floor; Room 3A ‘Aula Magna’, 3B and 3C are located on the 3rd floor. The Meeting ‘Dialoghi di Geografia e Studi di Popolazione’ is organized jointly with the Italian Geographical Society and will be held on the 1st of February at the Italian Geographical Society, Palazzetto Mattei, in villa Celimontana, via della Navicella, 12, Roma. HOW TO REACH THE CONFERENCE VENUE From Fiumicino Airport • Public transport: Take the Leonardo Express train to Termini Railway station, then take the Metro line B (direction Laurentina) and get off at the "Basilica di San Paolo" station. Then it is a 5-minute walk to the conference venue. • By taxi it takes about 30 minutes and it costs approximately €50. HOW TO MOVE IN ROME Public buses, trams and subway (Metro) The ticket fare is €1.50 and is valid on the whole Rome urban network for 100 minutes from validation but allows only one journey on the Metro railway. Tickets can be purchased at tobacco shops and newspaper stands or at the ticket machines within the Metro stations. You can also pay directly with your card (credit card or debit card) at the Metro entrance gates or on most of the buses. Besides it is for sure the fastest way to move around the city as taxis may drive on reserved lanes. SOCIAL EVENTS WELCOME COCKTAIL On Wednesday 1st of February at 6.30pm you are invited to a Welcome Cocktail at the Cloister of the “Basilica Papale di San Paolo fuori le Mura”. For more information, you can check the website: https://basilicasanpaolo.org/en/cloister-and-archaeological-area/. Before the cocktail, it will be possible to attend a free guided tour of the Basilica. The guided tour can be offered to a small number of visitors only and it will operate on a first-come-first- serve basis. How to reach the Basilica San Paolo: the Basilica is located in Piazzale San Paolo, 1, 8-minute walk from the Conference Venue and close to the ‘Basilica San Paolo’ Metro B station. SOCIAL DINNER The social dinner will take place on Thursday 2nd of February at 8.30pm, at the Restaurant “Da Meo Patacca”, website: https://ristorantedameopatacca.it/. The price of the social dinner is 40 euros. If you intend to attend the social dinner, you can pay in cash at the conference registration desk. Please be advised that we are unable to accept payments by card, and that there is no ATM machine at the conference venue. We advise that you bring along the exact amount due for the social dinner at the registration desk. How to reach the Restaurant: the Restaurant “Da Meo Patacca” is located in Piazza dei Mercanti, 30 in the Trastevere district, not far from to the famous “Bocca della Verità”. To reach the Restaurant from the conference venue you can take the Metro line B (direction Jonio or Rebibbia) from the Basilica San Paolo station (5-minute walk from the conference venue), get off at the Circo Massimo station and then walk for 15 minutes towards the Tiber river, cross the bridge Ponte Palatino and walk along a suggestive alley up to the square (via Pietro Peretti and then vicolo Santa Maria in Cappella). Alternatively, you can walk to via Ostiense and take bus 23 to Largo Aventino, then walk for 5 minutes, cross the Ponte Palatino and take via Pietro Peretti and then vicolo Santa Maria in Cappella, or take a taxi. CLOSING CEREMONY The Closing Ceremony will take place on Friday 3rd of February at 3.30pm, in Room ‘Aula Magna’ of Roma TRE University Rectorate in the new building which is the result of an innovative architectural and urban redevelopment project of high artistic value.
