Welcome to IAWMH 2019 Congress The International Association for Women’s Mental Health (IAWMH) in collaboration with La Société Marcé Francophone (SMF) are very pleased to welcome you to the 8th IAWMH World Congress on Women’s Mental Health, which will be held in the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris March 2019 (5-8th). Clinicians and researchers involved in the field of women’s mental health from every country are attending this congress to contribute. The main domains of interest at the congress are: Gender equality, Well-Being and Vulnerability which are important contributors to Women’s Mental Health. There will be outstanding Plenary Lectures, Scientific Symposia, Educational and Special lectures, Workshops, Free Communications and Poster sessions, and also many social events to help you discovering the wonderful cultural city of Paris with guided tours. IAWMH’s Established in 2001 to improve the mental health of women throughout the world, the International Association for Women’s Mental Health is a Not for Profit, Non-Governmental Organization. The Association’s purposes are: To create a network of national and international societies and sections (hereinafter called « Societies and Sections »), devoted to mental health of women. Together with Societies and Sections, to act as international advocates for Women’s Mental Health, for: • The elimination of conditions that are harmful to Women’s Physical and Mental Health. • Improved education and autonomy for women. • Better medical education and public information about Women’s Mental Health. • Increasing the number, status, education and resources of Women’s Mental Health providers. • The appropriate representation of women in research, education and organizations concerned with Women’s Mental Health • Control by women of their personal fertility. Activities of the Association will include, but will not be limited to: • Promotion of research through the development of international networks and focused workshops. • The organization of World Congresses, to which all individuals, Societies and Sections concerned with Women’s Mental Health are invited. • The support of international, regional, national and local conferences and symposia, for Exchange of information about scientific advances, clinical services, and social or legal developments related to Women’s Mental Health (hereinafter called « meetings »). • Circulation of information about Women’s Mental Health, through the World Wide Web, through the Association’s co-sponsored journal, Archives of Women’s Mental Health, and other publications. • Education of clinicians and the public through educational workshops as well as printed and electronic material. • Collaboration with advocacy groups. Through international collaboration and networks, to promote research into: • The social, economic, ethical, legal, cultural, psychological and biological factors, which affect Women’s Mental Health. • Women’s roles in marriage, family and society, and the effects on mental health. • The causes, effects and elimination of domestic violence and abuse of women. • The causes, treatment and prevention of mental diseases or disorders that are specific, more prevalent, more severe or have different risk factors or outcomes in women. • Gender-specific effects of treatment. • Basic sciences pertinent to gender difference and female biology. Transport & Accommodation Reaching Paris By plane Situated at the heart of Europe, Paris is easy to get to, with 2 international airports: Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (23 km to the north) and Paris Orly (14 km to the south) connecting the French capital to 557 cities in 132 countries. Aéroport de Paris handles some 14,000 flights per week. Both international airports can be reached with public transport (RER, bus) By train Paris is at the hub of an extensive and efficient rail network with connections to major European cities (London, Barcelona, Milan, Vienna, Berlin, Stockholm etc.) on TGV, Thalys, Lyria and Eurostar trains through its 6 major train stations: St Lazare, Gare du Nord, Gare de l’Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare Montparnasse and Gare d’Austerlitz. All information on the SNCF website. Transport within Paris The city’s 16 metro and 5 RER commuter rail lines make it easy and quick to get around Paris and its environs. The public transport network (RATP) also comprises extensive bus service and several tramlines. You will find all information about the RATP network, the ticket fares on ratp.fr. As for private transport, taxis and private hire vehicles are available on a 24-hour basis, and can be called for immediate use, or booked in advance using new smartphone applications. Where to stay in Paris Paris stands out from its rivals due to its well-balanced, abundant and eclectic accommodation – from luxury palaces to small local hotels, from big chain hotels to charming design hotels with 118,000 bedrooms and 2,000 hotels. Hotel residences, Bed & Breakfasts, youth hostels and furnished apartment rentals complete the offer. The congress venue, the Cité Universitaire Internationale de Paris, is located at the door of Paris in the 14th district.
