"I wasn’t sure what I
wanted to do after high school.
I took a few classes but nothing
         seemed to stick. After doing
various odd jobs, I decided I
        needed something better for
myself and my family. I enrolled in the
  Shasta College Water/Wastewater
        treatment program and after
               three semesters in the
              program, I was able to
get a job at the City
                of Crescent City as a
              Wastewater Treatment
                   Plant Operator-in-
                    Training. Going to
             Shasta College was the
           best decision I could have
           ever made for my future."

of Work program is headquartered at Shasta College in Redding, California.

New World of Work originated from a solid foundation of research
and futurist projections. From this research the “Top 10” list of
21st Century Employability Skills was developed.

CULTIVATING HEALTH AND LONGEVITY USING
CHINESE MEDICINE AND ACUPUNCTURE
In Chinese medicine, the underlying principle of health and longevity cultivation is to “follow nature”. The
dedication to this philosophy, with few exceptions, determines the resultant health. This philosophy has
developed and improved over the past 5000 years and encompasses the whole self: mind, body, and spirit,
and embraces the individual needs of each person. When we bring ourselves into harmony with the natural
rhythms, we improve the quality of our lives. Join Dr. Levings as she introduces the basic principles of health
through the lens of Chinese Medicine. She will also discuss the appropriate use of Chinese medicine vs.
western medicine and integration of the two approaches. Dr. Levings will demonstrate some of the different
types of treatments used in the five branches of Chinese medicine. The class will end with the QiGong
exercise to open the four gates of energy.
