However, I also see patients who are of normal weight or who are underweight, so losing additional weight while on the protocol is a concern. DRINKS Golden Milk If you’ve been trying to ditch caffeine, this golden milk recipe is a great alternative. It makes starting off your day easy and yummy! Golden Milk is all the rage right now – and for good reason! It’s bursting with health benefits, and is great for fighting inflammation! For an extra boost of gut repairing properties, I even added collagen into the mix! The turmeric in this recipe not only gives the HOT milk its golden color, but it’s active chemical, curcumin, is a potent antioxidant praised for it’s ability to reduce the inflammation and pain of autoimmunity or chronic inflammation! It is absorbed best when consumed with some fat (found in the coconut oil) and black pepper. TREATS Mango Coconut Yogurt Popsicles Serves 6 STEP 1 Blend up mango into a puree. Add in turmeric and collagen and pulse until 1-2 large mangos, diced incorporated. In a separate bowl, combine 1 tsp turmeric coconut yogurt and vanilla extract. Blend until 1 cup coconut butter smooth, scraping down sides midway through. TREATS Banana Coconut Cream Pie Serves 8 STEP 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine crust ingredients in food processor until a dough FOR CRUST forms. Grease a pie dish with coconut oil and press dough until it forms a crust. Bake for 12- 1 ¼ cup tigernut flour 15 minutes or until brown. Let cool. 2 tbsp coconut butter STEP 2 Gently spoon coconut cream into mixing 2 tbsp coconut oil bowl. Add in mashed banana, collagen, and vanilla extract. Beat with mixer until combined. ¼ tsp baking soda Spoon mixture into crust and set in refrigerator to chill. ¼ tsp salt STEP 3 Once cooled and set, top with ¾ tsp cinnamon sliced banana, cinnamon, and/or toasted SWEET ½ tsp vanilla extract coconut and enjoy!
