EARLY LEARNING CENTER Edina’s Early Learning Center partners with parents, family and community to ensure that every child gets off to the best possible start in learning and in life. We offer programs that are all about building solid foundations, igniting curiosity, supporting the whole child and their whole family, and connecting with the wider community. Schedule Preschool Screening Early Childhood Developmental Screening is a check of a child’s development, vision and hearing, growth, health history and immunizations. Screening is recommended when a child is three to four years old and must be completed before starting kindergarten in a Minnesota public school. Screening is free and takes approximately one hour. A parent or legal guardian stays with the child during the screening process. Screening is conducted at the Edina Community Center. Screenings are done by appointment only. Screenings take place on: • Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. • Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. • Saturdays from 8 a.m. to Noon Appointments are scheduled every 30 minutes on the half hour. Edina Community Ed’s programming for students in grades 6–8 contributes to a positive school climate where students feel welcome, connected and valued. MIDDLE SCHOOL MORNINGS Reliable care before school, 1–5 days per week, is offered from 7:45–9:00am. Our Middle School Mornings program offers choices for quiet activities in the Media Commons or active time in the gym. MIDDLE SCHOOL CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES Held before and after school, our clubs and activities invite students to explore everything from science, service and academics to theater, cooking and more. EDINA HIGH SCHOOL Edina Community Education is proud to partner with Edina High School to provide high school students with the opportunity to serve their community through volunteering and community service. LETTER IN COMMUNITY SERVICE ORIENTATION AND APPLICATION DUE: DEC 14, 2019 HOURS LOG: DUE APR 3, 2020 SERVICE LETTER CEREMONY: MAY 27, 2020 Edina High School students in grades 9–12 can earn a letter in Community Service. The Letter is earned by students who go above and beyond when it comes to serving others. There are several steps required to earn a Community Service Letter: • Complete an orientation and application • Complete 120 hours of service, including half in a targeted area of community need • Secure two letters of recommendation from supervisors • Share a creative reflection on the experience with peers For more information on the Community Service Letter, visit www.edinaschools.org/service HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM High School students regularly volunteer throughout Edina Public Schools.
