A word from the President Above all, our region is human, optimistic, strongly focused on the future, and open to the world. By fusing this DNA with our strong appetite for digital, we combine all the ingredients to make Nouvelle-Aquitaine a virtuous hotbed for the development of start- ups. We have decided to accompany these new digital heroes to the Las Vegas CES because we are convinced of the business and human potential of these projects. But through these locally-rooted initiatives, which are destined to change French people’s daily lives in multiple ways (healthcare, wellness, data, community togetherness, etc.), we are primarily supporting human stories. Our mission today is to mobilize and assist these collective-intelligence projects, alongside bold entrepreneurs. By making available our partner network, and building with these entrepreneurs a virtuous ecosystem that will enable them to realize their creative and business potential, we are convinced that these projects and their success will help to embody the image of a dynamic and trailblazing region. People are the key, which is why we will travel as a team to champion our region at the most prestigious of new technology events – CES Las Vegas! Alain Rousset President, Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council
A delegation made in Nouvelle-Aquitaine at CES Las Vegas CES, the global stage for innovation in Las Vegas: a challenge for Nouvelle-Aquitaine Held for the past 50-plus years by the powerful Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the Consumer Electronic Show (CES® Las Vegas) is the leading world exhibition for designers and makers of new technology. Every year, the event attracts nearly 200,000 trade visitors and 3,600 exhibitors over the four-day show. Close to 20,000 new products receive their global launch at each edition. CES is a unique occasion to meet – in an incredibly short timespan – world leaders, corporations and influencers involved in the digital transformation of the economy. The event also generates wide Come and meet and deep media coverage courtesy of 7,000 journalists. To ensure that its resources match its ambitions, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council is allocating an unprecedented budget of €360,000 to the operation, in order to support enterprises for which CES demands a big investment. The Regional Council is meeting 50% of businesses’ costs. This portion covers: show expenses for exhibitors, tailored advice for visitors, group and individual training, plus participation in CES Unveiled and in the Awards. The Regional Council is making an extra, significant effort to maximize start-ups’ participation by providing a meeting room at the show, a dedicated website to showcase its start-ups, a TV studio during the show, etc. 6
Nouvelle-Aquitaine: united, well prepared, inspirational Partners’ mobilization and cooperation is a key factor in the success of the Nouvelle- Aquitaine delegation at CES 2019. For the second year in a row, the Region’s seven partners are working together to assist enterprises and deliver compelling visibility for the regional delegation. CCI International was confirmed as operation leader due to its expertise in collective export actions and its capability to act at the Nouvelle-Aquitaine level. Its team has worked closely with French Tech Bordeaux, SPN and the Regional Council to devise and execute the business support package. CCI Bordeaux Gironde, Bordeaux Métropole, Digital Aquitaine and Aliptic also contributed their expertise and address books to help deliver a successful operation. NOUVELLE-AQUITAINE: DRIVING Lastly, the communications team will run the technical aspects of activity in the Eureka Park and Meeting Room DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT CENTERED venues (deployment of a dedicated virtual-reality space, ON PEOPLE developed by the Region). The digital revolution goes to the heart of being human: it connects us; it augments us; it makes us more mobile; it makes us actors and citizens; it makes us adaptable; it improves our living conditions and life expectancy. At the same time, digital is perceived as dehumanizing and unethical. Nouvelle-Aquitaine is betting on rebuilding the human- digital bond, considering that digital is humans’ partner and humans inspire innovation. The differentiating stance of Nouvelle-Aquitaine is at the heart of the delegation that will travel to promote its innovations at CES Las Vegas. 10
