It took me six weeks to knit a circular shawl which I sent to Kensington Palace on Wednesday 23rd July. On Saturday 7th September I received a reply from Buckingham Palace thanking me for the gift. I am now thinking of sending a shawl for Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall’s little girl, Mia. BBQ at WISH By Lisa A beautiful day on Friday 18th July, the sun was out so we decided to make use of the day and have a barbeque. The children made new friends and played in the garden happily. Everyone had a great time chatting with staff and interacting with new people. We would all like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all staff at WISH for thinking about us and organising the event. Hopefully we can do something as enjoyable again. 10 11
Pamper night Karate award By Nagwa at Derbyshire WISH By Richard Parker from Leicestershire Learning Disabilities Floating Support I am Richard Parker and I go to karate (GKR) at the Leisure Centre in Ashby-De-La-Zouch. I go there on Friday evenings. I was awarded my blue belt in February this year. I have been going for three years and I enjoy learning to defend myself and the friendship of other members. I like it very much and my English and Maths are getting much better. On Tuesday I went to a college awards night, I had a good time. We had lots of food too and brought some back. My teachers gave me the ESOL Learner of the Year award. I went with my Mum, my Sister, Tanya the Children’s Worker and Val our Support Worker. I am so happy and so is everybody else.
