It was great to be able to take the steps towards a management position in administration, between on the job experience, and training and further study, this is what I am aiming for. I’ve found The Gordon to be a great place to take that first step into a brighter future if you are looking at making a change in life. Through The Gordon I was offered pathways to explore potential careers without having to commit to long-term study until I was sure of my preferred path. Having completed several TAFE courses, I’ve come to realise that I don’t have to focus on one career outcome. I can use my skills in many different ways to pursue multiple opportunities throughout the rest of my working life. Right now, I am continuing my studies at University as I aim to pursue a career as an architect.” BEC GRANT DIPLOMA OF INTERIOR DESIGN | 11

On job searching, I realised a qualification in horticulture was really going to help me to secure work. Most jobs required Certificate III as a minimum, so that is where I started. I studied at Werribee Park. It really is a spectacular setting in which to learn all facets of horticulture. The teachers were fantastic. I enjoyed the other people in the course and I loved how hands on it was. We always did a little bit of theory in the classroom and then stepped outside to really put things into practice. I have enjoyed gardening and in particular growing food for many years as a passionate hobby. I thought I was going to become a market gardener or a horticultural therapist working with people solely growing food. During the 12 months though, I became incredibly passionate about indigenous plants. Studying at The Gordon completely changed the direction I thought I was going in. It opened up new doors and interests for me.” NATASHA CLEARY SASSE CERTIFICATE III IN HORTICULTURE 12 | For the latest information visit thegordon.edu.au | Call 5225 0600
