23/05/2021 Proposal 1: Approval of 2019 AGM Minutes No 2020 AGM due to the pandemic – details of the 2020 decision approvals are available online . PROPOSER? (These have both been posted on our website. In the interest of saving time, we will assume the Minutes have been read.) SECONDER? POLLING: PLEASE VOTE NOW!!! 2020 Annual Report (1) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) The pandemic…. • Still locked down, after over a year, due to the COVID-SARS 2 pandemic. • Facemasks and social distancing will be with us for quite some time 2
23/05/2021 2020 Annual Report (2) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) The good news…. • Vaccination programmes are well underway • Vaccination passports should be available by summer • We should be able to start getting back to a more normal life during the second half of 2021. 2020 Annual Report (3) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) Post-BREXIT Challenges • Non-acceptance of British boating certification in Spain (or other EU state) • The need to import, and pay import duty, on non-Spanish flagged yachts in Spain (or other EU state) after 18 months from the beginning of this year. • The inability of RYA sailing schools to legally operate in Spain (or other EU state) Spain is expected issue by Royal Decree before the summer to resolve this problem 3
23/05/2021 2020 Annual Report (4) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) Virtual Racing • Offshore and inshore virtual racing for CBYA members via Virtual Regatta. • Inshore racing was facilitated via our associated membership of the RYA, which allowed us to plan and run our own weekly races using J/70 yachts similar to the TOMs. • The offshore races included the Transat AG2R La Mondiale, Cape Town to Goa, and the Vendée Globe 2020-2021. • The offshore virtual race champion was definitely John Allison, aided by his Boxing Kangaroos virtual race group! 2020 Annual Report (5) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) • Membership – over 320 full members • Strong financial position – excellent cash flow control • Membership disclaimer now covers potential exposure to COVID19 health during CBYA events,. • Also makes our members personally responsible for obtaining appropriate third- party liability cover before sailing. • We want all current members to update their membership Rachel Garnham – Sue Bell - Treasurer details. 23/05/2021 2020 Annual Report (6)– Hugh Epsom(Chairman) Greatly Reduced Social Agenda 2019: 23 events - 766 members attending 2020: Only 3 events - 90 members attending Social team – Peter English (Social Secretary), Julie Benneworth & Claire Guest 2020 Annual Report (7)– Hugh Epsom(Chairman) Safety Improvements • An unfortunate CBYA accident on the TOMs during a RCNC organised one-day regatta, prompted us to review our safety procedures. • This resulted in the development of safety briefing guidelines for not only the TOMs, but also for cruiser charters, Hobie Cats and dinghies. • The CBYA also invested in five handheld marine VHF radios, three kept on charge at RCNC for CBYA TOM sailing, and two for our monthly CBYA day charters. 5
23/05/2021 2020 Annual Report (8) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) CBYA supported charities Make a Smile CBYA donated €1000 - but only managed to collect €235 last year 2020 Annual Report (9) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) CBYA Website Upgrade Phase 1 (March/April/May) • Website revamp – software upgrades, new layouts, text up dates, new images, etc • Members subscriptions – online payments, easier joining procedure Phase 2 • Online Store – to purchase CBYA merchandise, and pay for sailing and social events via the website • Events & RSVP – to view upcoming events and book online 6
23/05/2021 2020 Annual Report (10)– Hugh Epsom(Chairman) Volunteering • The CBYA only operates due to volunteers - we rely on their support. • Committee members are also volunteers - we all work hard to keep the CBYA running. • Not necessary to sit on the committee, or be a full- time resident in Spain, as we are keen to promote job-sharing. • If anyone would like to help out in running, or helping to run, any CBYA sections and/or events, please contact me, or a member of the Committee. More volunteers required!!! Succession Planning • The current Committee and volunteers will all need to be replaced as we don´t intend to carry on forever! We are currently looking for: 1. A Boating Officer 2. Assistant Webmaster 3. Press Relations Co-ordinator 2020 Annual Report (11) – Hugh Epsom(Chairman) Proposal: Change title of CBYA Chairman to CBYA Commodore (for all CBYA activities except for formal communications with Spanish authorities) Reasons: 1. More logical when being hosted by, or hosting, events with other sailing clubs (e.g., the Royal London Yacht Club) 2. Better understood title when communication with other sailing organisations outside Spain. 3. May make succession planning easier Summary: • Maintained CBYA membership despite the pandemic • CBYA finances in good shape • Maintained as many activities as possible during lock-down • Improved CBYA safety standards • Initiated website upgrade 7

23/05/2021 2020 Boating Report(1) – Rachel Garnham 2019 Events 92 sailing opportunities with 799 members sailing 2020 Events 35 sailing opportunities with 226 members sailing 5 Clubs Regattas - mostly cancelled due to the pandemic. 2020 Boating Report(2) – Amanda Topson • TOMS special events were not possible, apart from a couple of RCNC one day regattas. • We did manage to run a few sail training days during the year. 2020 TOMs Ladder competition was suspended due to the pandemic. 10
23/05/2021 2020 Boating Report(3)(Amanda Topson) TOMs Organiser role We need help to organise the weekly TOMs sail training events Planned Special 2021 TOMs Thank you to Al Mason and Events: Dave Reid who helped organise the TOMS in 2020 • CBYA TOMs Race ladder – Oct/Nov This covers:- • TOMs coastal cruise & raft-up – • Controlling the daily TOMs sailing schedule. Thurs 9 Sept (The Big Event) • Preparing and sending out the newsletter. • CBYA Challenge – Sunday 6 Oct invitations, reviewing the replies. • Making sure that there are adequate RCNC- approved TOMS skippers, and competent crew, for each event. • Putting together the proposed crews. • Notifying RCNC as to how many boats are required, and reporting maintenance issues. • Issuing the confirmations for each event. 2020 Boating Report(4) – Bob Gordon Dinghy Section • Bob Gordon, with the support of Fernando Moneta, & assisted by Dave Peachey, John Lilley, Gary Wickham, Robert Blackwell & several others managed and kept the Dinghy Section going from strength-to-strength, despite the damage caused by Storm Gloria, having to remove everything from the beach for a Council clean up, having 2 sets of laser spars stolen and being shut down for part of the year due to the pandemic. • 20 Dinghy Day events with 138 people sailing, and around 200 socialising. CBYA at it’s best, nautically and socially. • Income helped to cover dinghy maintenance and our investment in a replacement second-hand outboard motor for the safety boat. Now running Dinghy Days most weeks, alternating between Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 11
23/05/2021 2020 Boating Report(5) - Monique Neyzen • 2020 Hobie Cat sailing • Took place in July and August • 5 of the 9 planned sessions cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Summer sailing for Hobie Cat lovers - 2021 • 2 hours of fun in beautiful Bassetes Bay • Feel a cat accelerating, go out on the wire or just relax • Friday afternoons from mid-May to mid September • CBYA skipper and 2 or 3 sailors on each cat • Drinks afterwards on the terrace with a view of the Penon CBYA 2021 Hobie Cat sailing to start on Friday 4 June 2020 Boating Report(6) (Graham Hustler) Cruising Charters • We charter our boats monthly from Náutica Corcho in Dénia. • All modern Jeanneau yachts (39ft to 49ft). • Usually the last Monday of the month. October to May. • Crew pay €60 a head for the day. • Experience not necessary. Training can be provided. • Qualified skipper on board, but 'Hands On' crew allowed to sail the boat. • 2020 was a difficult year! • Just when crew numbers were reaching 16 with 2 (possibly 3) yachts hired. • Some Day Charters were cancelled due to bad weather, others cancelled due to the Covid pandemic restrictions. • Those completed were always greatly enjoyed by all participants. 12
23/05/2021 2020 Boating Report(7) (Amanda Topson) Cruising in Greek Islands in 2020 Postponed planned Sept 2020 charter holiday to 18 – 25 September this year. Over thirty now signed up to sail the five yachts – still looking for a few more. Confident that we will have a full complement in time. Refunds • Committee has agreed to refund deposit payments to those unable to join the trip this year. • Refunds will be made in two tranches – we will advise when we are in a position to pay. • The trip must be self-financing, so we must find replacements before making refunds. • No partial payments will be made, as we do not want to set a precedent . 2020 Boating Report(8) (Hugh Epsom) • Peter Bird has now taken over from Kiran Kapur as CBYA Powerboat Co-ordinator, as well as the Raft-up Coordinator. • He provides the safety boat for our Dinghy days, and the Committee boat for TOMs Ladder racing. • Planned 2020 raft-ups and powerboat events were suspended due to the pandemic. 13
23/05/2021 2020 Boating Report(9) (Hugh Epsom) Powerboats and Raft-ups The CBYA organises social “Raft-ups” every summer. This is open to CBYA boat-owning members and involves both sailing & motor boats. We meet at a pre-agreed offshore location between Javea & Moraira, which could be El Portet, Cala Blanca, Sardine Bay or Tango Bay. The boat owners select their own crew/guests. Activities include swimming, eating & drinking. Usually an excellent day out! 2020 Social Report (1) – Claire Guest 20 January: A Bordo - 45 people booked but cancelled due to storm Gloria, 24 February: A Bordo - 56 people. Annual Awards Ceremony. 17 March: Ladies Lunch - Cancelled 1 June: Maiden Presentation Cancelled 22 June – A Bordo social lunch – 15 people 20 July: Chiringuito Evening - 19 people 17 August: Chiringuito Evening - 15 people Our Social Support team: Julie Benneworth, Peter English & Claire Guest. 14
