Inner West Sector Support Development and Training Service Vision The Inner West Area Sector Support Development and Training Service will provide training and resources to promote best practice in the delivery of effective and efficient community care services. This includes paid staff and volunteers in the Inner West Region • Burwood LGA • Canada Bay LGA • Inner West Council LGA- Ashfield, Leichhardt and Marrickville • Strathfield LGA • and Canterbury/Bankstown Council- CANTERBURY LGA only Mission The Inner West Sector Support Development and Training Service promotes upskilling and learning through accessible, quality programs, training and resources for the community care sector. Goals Identify the education and training needs of all community care paid staff and volunteers in the Inner West Area. To provide appropriate training for all community care paid staff and volunteers to perform their duties with confidence and professionalism and to provide suitable education and training opportunities to assist IW CHSP staff, volunteers and students to achieve their personal goals. 2

This includes CHSP paid staff and volunteers in the Burwood, Canada Bay, Inner West Council LGAs (Ashfield, Leichhardt and Marrickville), (Canterbury/Bankstown Council) LGAs (CANTERBURY ONLY) and Strathfield. Mission The Inner West Area Sector Support Development and Training Service (IWATS) promotes upskilling and learning through accessible, quality programs, training and resources for the community care sector. Goals Identify the education and training needs of all community care paid staff and volunteers in the Inner West Area. To provide appropriate training for IW CHSP staff funded services specifically and IW CHSP service volunteers to perform their duties with confidence and professionalism and to provide suitable education and training opportunities to assist staff, volunteers and students to achieve their personal goals. 4
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION Inner West Area Sector Support Development and Training Service offers training for Inner West CHSP funded services and volunteers across the Inner West LGAs, Burwood, Canada Bay, Inner West Council LGAs (Ashfield, Leichhardt and Marrickville), Canterbury/ Bankstown LGAs (CANTERBURY only) and Strathfield. INFORMATION AND REGISTRATIONS You can register for courses by completing the registration form and sending it to E: IWATS@eccnsw.org.au For further information contact the Inner West Sector Support Development & Training Officer Ph: 0408490011. ACCESS, FEES ENROLMENTS AND PAYMENT Priority of access will be given to CHSP funded service providers (Inner West CHSP paid staff and volunteers) based in the Inner West Region (Ashfield, Burwood, Canterbury, Canada Bay, Leichhardt, Marrickville and Strathfield areas. Payment must be made upon registration. • $49.50 (GST inclusive) for Inner West CHSP funded service providers where applicable. • Free for all Inner West CHSP Volunteers . • CHSP providers outside the area $105.50 (GST inclusive) • $105.50 (GST inclusive) for non-CHSP funded service providers and non CHSP funded specific positions. Payment can be made either by cheque or electronic transfer To Ethnic Communities Council NSW - Inner West SSDO&T Service, 221 Cope Street Waterloo NSW 2017. CERTIFICATES Certificates of attendance will be issued to all attendees upon successful completion of course attendance. Once registration is processed credits/refunds/transfer will only be made when a course is cancelled by Inner West Area Sector Support Development and Training Service or notification to withdraw is received 2 weeks advance. 5

TERMS, CONDITIONS AND FEES INVOICING and PAYMENTS ACCESS, FEES REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT • Invoices for payment will be sent to the invidiual or their organisation after attendance at training session/s. • Priority of access will be given to Inner West CHSP service specific staff and volunteers. • Fees of $49.50 may apply (GST inclusive) per session. Enabling Models of Care for CHSP Providers WEBINAR Wed 31 March 2021 Course Description: Date: Wednesday 31 March 2021 CHSP providers are now beign challenged to deliver models of care Time: which demonstrate measurable outcomes for clients particulalry Facilitator: Lorraine Poulos and Associates around enabling them to continue to have quality of life that meets their needs. Webinar: A link will be sent a few days before the session to the registered participants This session will ecourage you to “critically assess” your programme and reflect on what you might want or need to change Cost: Please refer to page 8 for fees and charges in your service delivery The Reablement Community of Practice will be reinforced along with the CHSP Good Practice guide 2015 and the CHSP Programme Manual 2020. Providers will receieve information about strategies and programmes they can introduce. There will be references to staff training required, managment of volunteers and reinforcing have the concepts and principles of Enablment, Reablment and Wellness. Practice Makes Perfect ZOOM Training for IW CHSP Services & RAS Providers Tuesday 20 April - Tuesday 8 June 2021 Background: The training will only be available for online delivery Date: Tuesday 20 April - Tuesday 8 June 2021 Time: 10:00am - 11:00am (1 hour per session) • Training is limited to 10 IW CHSP participants, including 2 RAS assessors Facilitator: Glen Sorensen • There will be no charge to the 2 RAS assessors that book in. • The RAS assessors must be covering the Inner West Region • This is session is an 8-week one-hour workshop which focuses on Zoom: A link will be sent a few days before the session CHSP care coordinators, case managers and CHSP direct staff to all registered participants who are responsible for documenting the client journey through clear, objective progress notes. Understanding Duty of Care and Maintaining Professional Boundaries Zoom Training Wed 21 April 2021 Course Description: Date: Wednesday 21 April 2021 This interactive and engaging workshop explores what is duty of care and professional bounmdaries and provides techniques and Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm strategies for staff and volunteers to understand and maintain professional boundaries. Using the DoH Aged Care Diversity Framework Action Plans to Develop Culutral Competence and Inclusion Training Course Description: The DoH Aged Care Diveristy Framework Action Plans support Date: Tuesday 22 June 2021 services to provide appropriate and inclusive services to Aboriginal Time: 9:30am - 12:30n and Torres Strait islander people (ATSI), people from Culturally and Linguisticaly diverse backgrounds (CALD) and people who are Facilitator: Grace Leotta homeless. Glen Sorensen Director After working as a Community Development Worker, Practitioner, Academic and Government officer, Glen Sorensen founded Age Communications Pty Ltd in 1998. Over the past 25 years, Glen has worked as a human services consultant with all tiers of government, industry, peak bodies, non- government and the private sector. He works extensively in the residential aged care, community care, disability, housing and community development sectors as a researcher, writer, trainer and facilitator. He is the author of two books, When I’m 64 and Options for the Ageing. 22
Jenny Bray JBTC Director Jenny Bray has over 26 years experience working in the community care and community services industries, assisting over 300 organisations to respond successfully to community needs and changing environments. Her vast experience in training, consulting and project management means Jenny can both see the big picture and enable organisations to manifest their vision at the grass roots level. Jenny has a long association with the Inner West, with a strong knowledge of the communities and aged and disability services of the area and across the State. 23
Lorraine Poulos - Director Lorraine Poulos is the managing director of Lorraine Poulos and Associates. Lorraine originally trained as a Registered Nurse and has post graduate qualifications in Health Services Management and Adult Education. Her past roles include Chief Executive Officer of the Aged Care Channel and Director of Aged and Community Care for a large multi purpose organisation. Lorraine is considered an expert in the area of auditing quality systems, having been a former ACHS surveyor, qualified aged care assessor and the subject matter expert for the training of the sector and quality reviewers in the Community Care Common Standards - Home Care Standards. Lorraine is passionate about encouraging change within the sector and this is recognised by her invitation to speak and facilitate at many state, national and international conferences and forums. She has worked in health and aged care for over 20 years and is well known for her passion and commitment to the industry. 24
Carrie Hayter - Director Carrie Hayter has 22 years experience working in aged and community care sectors as well as in the disability services industry. Carrie worked with Alt Beatty Consultants in the development of a Guide for HACC Services in Implementing wellness approach. A Handbook for Community Care Services, Empowering People, Enhancing Independence (2010). In 2011 she delivered enabling approach training for Home and Community Care staff across NSW. She is currently delivering a number of training session including LGBTI. 25
Grace Leotta - Director Affirm Organizational Development and Training has been providing quality organizational development and training for government and non-government human services in NSW, the ACT and other states since early 1990. Grace Leotta is an organisational development and training consultant. Clients include Commonwealth and State Government departments, Councils, peak bodies, large non-government organisations and community-based organizations 26
