on 28 April 2022; welcomes that International Workers’ Memorial Day is commemorated
throughout the world, including in the West Scotland region, and is officially recognised by many
governments, including the UK Government; acknowledges the publication of the annual statistics
for fatal injuries at work in Great Britain during 2020-21 by the Health and Safety Executive; notes
with sadness the findings that 17 workers in Scotland lost their lives during 2020-21 as a result of
fatal injury at work; believes that a strong trade union movement is vital for advancing workers’

*S6M-03442 Graham Simpson: Honouring Emergency Workers—That the Parliament
recognises the campaign by the Lanarkshire Historical Police Society for officers murdered in the
line of duty, including Constable George Taylor and Detective Sergeant William Ross Hunt, both of
Strathclyde Police Force, to receive posthumous bravery awards; further recognises what it sees
as the need for those who lose their lives while on public duty to receive recognition; notes the
view that the UK Government should agree to create a new award for all emergency workers who
are killed while serving the public, and that this should be retrospective; recognises what it sees as
the sterling bravery shown by Constable George Taylor and Sergeant William Ross Hunt in the
face of what it understands was horrific violence; congratulates the Chief Constable of Police
Scotland, Iain Livingstone, on agreeing to honour both men, and notes with sadness the long wait
that their families have had for both men to be acknowledged.

*S6M-03367 Joe FitzPatrick: Sexism in Football—That the Parliament condemns the findings of
a recent investigation, undertaken by the Courier and Press & Journal, which, it believes, shows
the scale of sexist abuse facing those involved in women's football in Scotland; notes with concern
that the investigation found that 60% of female respondents had experienced sexism in football,
and that sexism was the most commonly encountered form of abuse experienced by female
players; highlights that, according to the investigation, just 8% of respondents believe that the
football industry does enough to reduce discriminatory behaviour towards women; notes that 86%

has now established a world-class cluster of scientists and clinicians to address the causes,
treatment and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which, it understands,
is particularly prevalent in the south-west corner of Scotland; understands that BREATH has
successfully trained 28 young scientists to PhD level, or beyond, in both project-specific scientific
skills and, through industrial interactions, in transferable and complementary industry-relevant
skills, with many of them progressing into high-level jobs in industry and academia; further
understands that BREATH has established active collaborations with three industry partners and
engaged with another 16 local and international companies over the course of the project, and has
also created an extensive public outreach programme, consisting of multiple school visits and

LGBT ally, and LGBT History Month and Purple Friday celebrations took place, and welcomes the

pupils, staff, parents and the wider community.

*S6M-03439 Douglas Lumsden: 9th Aberdeen Scout Troop—That the Parliament commends
the 9th Aberdeen Scout Troop for organising a litter pick in the Bridge of Dee area; notes that over
50 volunteers collected 40 bags of rubbish, three trolleys, two scooters, one crutch and various
bits of cars; further notes that they were assisted by Aberdeen City Council who provided the
equipment and disposed of the rubbish; understands that this contributes to their environmental

that West College Scotland has announced its intention to close on-site nurseries at Greenock and
Paisley; understands that the college will also cut its catering provision across all campuses;
further understands that parents and students held what it believes were successful
demonstrations at the two campuses in February 2022, and that a petition to keep the Greenock
nursery open has attracted over 700 signatures to date; believes that the closure of the nurseries
will have a negative impact on children, students and the local communities; understands that no
consultation of parents or students was carried out by West College Scotland’s board of
management prior to the approval of the closures; further understands that a proper collective
consultation with staff was only carried out after trade unions UNISON and Unite entered formal
dispute on 12 January 2022; believes that West College Scotland must carry out, and act on, a
proper equality impact assessment, in line with its statutory duties, to assess any adverse impacts
of the proposed closures and evaluate potential alternatives; considers that management should
act on alternative proposals put forward by staff and trade union representatives; calls on the
Scottish Government to intervene in the dispute to ensure that West College Scotland engages
with these proposals and carries out a proper equality impact assessment in line with its statutory
duties, and further calls on the Scottish Government to reverse what it sees as years of cuts to
college funding, including what it understands is a projected further cut of £52 million announced

the community in Orkney to prevent the arrival of the tanker NS Champion, which, it understands,

pressure mounted by people in Orkney was fundamental to the UK Government's eventual
decision to ban Russian vessels from UK ports, announced on 28 February 2022; considers that

for the way in which they came together at this time to ensure that their views, and, it believes, the
