A beautiful corner of Bavaria 21 Upper Bavaria is a region with many facets. Mühldorf County offers an unusual one – a personable Bavarian world that has lost none of its original charm. Mühldorf County is part of the Upper Bavaria region and borders on the counties of Landshut and Rottal-Inn to the north, Ebersberg and Erding to the west, Rosenheim and Traunstein to the south and Altötting to the east. Quiet oxbow lakes, precipitous riverbanks and extensive river terraces characterise the river on its progress past alluvial woodlands, fertile fields and lush meadows. Mühldorf County’s population increases nearly 2 percent each year, and shows every sign of continuing to grow. Between now and 2020, the county’s communities closest to the greater Munich area will be experiencing particularly strong growth of 13 percent or more. This development is reflected by our tourist figures, which indicate a 12 percent increase in visitors in 2002 as compared to 0.2 percent for Bavaria as a whole. “Mühldorf County is becoming more and more popular, attracting an increasing number of companies because of its proximity to the Munich metropolitan region.
