■ The Ideal Candidate The City of Rialto, California is seeking a proven professional to become their next Building Official. The ideal candidate will also possess strong oral and written communications and be able to support the goals of the Division to meet the needs of the citizens and businesses. ■ Position Responsibilities The Building Official is a single incumbent professional level “at-will” classification. Reporting to the Director of Community Development, the Building Official directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Building Services Division including inspection of building construction activities, investigation of code violations and issuance of building permits. This position coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Community Development. As a Building Official with the City of Rialto, this position monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures and provides recommendations within division policy with regard to appropriate service and staffing levels. Additionally, this position supervises the examination of plans and specifications for completeness and compliance with applicable codes and regulations; reviews structural calculations for accuracy; and maintains efficient plan examination process. The incumbent in this position will conduct field investigations and inspections, as needed, and will confer with owners, architects, and engineers on design and construction plans to ensure all structures inspected adhere to housing, zoning, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy, and mobile home codes and standards. Preparation of new codes and ordinances for adoption by the City Council are also essential functions for this position.

■ Compensation and Benefits The compensation for the Building Official is $103,638.00- $138,885.00 annually. The City also offers an attractive benefit package that includes: » Retirement: CalPERS 2.7% @ 55 plan (single highest year) for qualified “classic” members as defined by CalPERS with 8% Employee Cost; 2% @ 62 plan (highest three years) for new members with 8% Employee Cost.
