LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR Dear Grayslake Area Community, I’m sure, like me, you remember your very first library card and the excitement of bringing home books like The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein or Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss. Today I’m more likely to check out an eBook on a personal device, and my library card brings stories to life more than ever before with all the amazing resources available! Even with items like WiFi hotspots, travel adapters, board games, telescopes and more, borrowing is just the tip of the iceberg! We also offer free notary services, study rooms, meeting rooms, a makerspace, computers, printers, copiers, databases to learn a new language or research your genealogy, and too many wonderful enrichment programs to count! A family recently shared with me how they had grown up with the library from storytimes, to textbooks, to technology services. They mentioned how grateful they were, not only for all that we offered then, but that our services grew with them as they did! We invite you to share your stories about how you’ve used our library throughout your life as we both reminisce and look forward. Perhaps the greatest story about the public library, though, is the connection it has with its community. Every time I’m out and about, people approach me to share, “You’re so lucky to have so-and-so at the library,” and I agree! We are equally lucky to have you. For we know, your library card is just the beginning of your unique story.
