FREE TIME Friday 25th January If you’re arriving into Sydney early on Friday, we suggest hiring a bike for a scenic ride through the lush Centennial Parklands, before heading over to Sydney’s new entertainment precinct; The Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park. After something a little more adventurous? Head down to Pro Dive Coogee to hire snorkeling gear and explore the beautiful marine at Clovelly Beach (20min walk along the coast). You might even see a blue groper fish or two if you’re lucky! Finish off with a burger at Out of the Blue, the famous Eastern Suburbs takeaway burger and fish & chip shop – we recommend the schnitzel burger! Note, the venue is cash only. #bdw2019 survival guide 18
FREE TIME If you’re more about the urban scene, catch a train into Sydney City, explore Westfield Sydney and take in Sydney’s beautiful harbour. Catch a ferry from circular quay to Barangaroo, a sparkling new harbor foreshore precinct, where you’ll find great food, shopping, and one of our favourite gelato stores, RivaReno Gelato! #bdw2019 survival guide 19
FREE TIME Saturday 26th January Stick around at Tramsheds after the Faith Forum and discover how this old tram depot has been transformed into a vibrant and eclectic social hub. Sample some of the delicious food on offer; if you have a sweet tooth we recommend you try Gelato Messina. You will be enticingly close to the serene Glebe foreshore walk, starting from Jubilee Park (right behind Tramsheds). Within fifteen minutes you’ll be at the gorgeous Blackwattle Bay, and within thirty minutes you’ll be at the famous Sydney Fish Market. #bdw2019 survival guide 20
FREE TIME Sunday 27th January One of the best ways to see Sydney’s breathtaking coastline is by completing the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk. You can start at any of the beautiful bays and beaches along this walk, but we recommend starting at Bondi Icebergs (home of the often instagrammed Bondi beach/pool photo), and finishing with a drink at the Coogee Bay Pavilion. For breakfast in Bondi we suggest Porch & Parlour, Harry’s Bondi or Lox, Stock and Barrel. At the end of the walk, reward yourself with Melonhead in Coogee (cash only). Walking not your thing? Spend the day in the sun at one of the beaches. Your options are unlimited – ranging from Bondi, to Tamarama, to Coogee, or the quieter, magical Gordon’s Bay. All are easily accessible – you only have to choose! #bdw2019 survival guide 21
MORE FREE TIME? If you’re staying longer in Sydney, we have a few more recommendations you may wish to explore: Arts Sydney Festival: An annual cultural event celebrating art, music, dance and food. There’s so much going on, we recommend having a look at the official website (https://www.sydneyfestival.org.au/) Food There’s simply too much to list! We recommend checking out the urban list for some of Sydney’s best food and drink options at https://www.theurbanlist.com/sydney/food-and-drink or speak to one of the committee members for some of our favourites. #bdw2019 survival guide 22
