Mary Kay Forkel There is really no way to put into words how special my Mom is to me, but I will try my best. She is my Mom, best friend, coach, Christian role model, fan, comedian, listener, and biggest supporter in my In one word, she is AMAZING! My fondest memories of my Mom are countless, but I would have to say the best memories are anytime that I am able to be with her, talk, and hug her. In the past, that included our shopping trips to department stores, garage sales, and Crazy Days, as well as times she would come and stay with us in Nebraska. Oh, my goodness we had fun! Right now, my fond memories include our many phone conversations of giggles, cries, and solving world problems and my visits to the nursing home. We are still making special memories. Betty Taylor Happy Mother’s Day to Betty Taylor! We love you so much! Thank you for being the best Mom! Love Carol, Randy, Rick, Crystle and families!
Audrey Davis Audrey Davis with 7 of her 10 great grandchildren. This was taken at my parents’ 60th Anniversary Vernita Tuscherer Many great memories of Mom visiting. We played lots of cards, did lots of baking, laughed bunches! I loved seeing her interact with my grandsons! She may have been outnumbered in this pic- ture, but Mom’s smile reminds me she was having fun! Love you Mom! Vernita Tuscherer with grandsons Happy Mother’s Day! Lucas (2) and Charlie (4). Emma Martel In September of 1999, my mother, Emma Martel, traveled with my sister, Ruby, and her husband, Ron, from Hosmer, SD to Lansdale, Pennsylvania to see the home Alayne and I had moved into a few months earlier. During her visit Mother chose to spend one day making kuchen. To do so she needed thirteen baking pans. Alayne had quite a difficult time finding thirteen baking pans in our home. In the attached photo she is demonstrating to me how to go about combining the various ingredients that make up this tasty pastry. The photo brings many pleas- ant memories of Mother occasionally preparing and baking as many as a dozen or more pans of kuchen in one afternoon for her family and visitors. Four generations celebrating Emma’s 100th birthday in 2019. Mom, you are amazing! Love you
Corrine Nordling The summer before COVID we took our mom, Corrine Nordling, to revisit Storybook Land. She was a charter member of LaSerto- ma club and instrumental in help- ing to create "Old Woman in the Shoe". At this visit she talked about how she helped with the painting, and a lot of reminiscing about creation of the attractions.
Katherine Moen Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom, Katherine Moen! One is of my Dad, Harvey Moen. Harvey and Katherine were married 55 years! Harvey was in professor in the music department at Northern State. Another is a “church photo” of my Mom. She didn’t like it, but I think it’s a great photo of her. Love your smile and the twinkle in your eyes, Mom! The picture of Katherine with her four “kids” was taken at Bethesda in December 2019. Our last family gath- ering before the pandemic. Another picture is of the entire Harvey & Katherine Moen family and from granddaughter, Makyla & Daniel’s wedding, taken the summer of 2019. The picture of Katherine and her daughter, Jane was taken recently. It was sooo good to be in the same room again after being apart 14 months. My Mom stressed the importance of family and encouraged weekly letters to keep in touch. She continues to write a weekly letter. My Mom loves to read and would keep up on current issues. She and my Dad were recycling in the 80’s be- fore it became popular. She’s been a great role model to many in our family and in the community. She has a strong faith, was active in her church and in many community organizations until she broke her hip at 99. She celebrated her 100th birthday in November and received around 200 cards wishing her well and remind- ing her of the impact she’s had on their lives. She’s made the most of her circumstances – she’s happy and content living at Bethesda and appreciates the care she receives. Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom, Katherine Moen. Love and hugs from your daughter, Jane and favorite (& only) son-in-law, Paul. Thanks to all of you who are Moms for the love and sacrifices you’ve made for your families.
Phylllis Cogswell Kurt and I are so lucky to have Phyllis for a mom. She has been a wonderful role model for both of us throughout our lives. She worked very hard to support herself through college be- cause it was so important to her to become a teacher. She worked tirelessly as a piano teach- er, the elementary school music teacher for Aberdeen, and a junior high English teacher at Simmons Junior High. She was always active in church and community organizations. After she retired she accomplished a great deal as a hospital volunteer, always working to improve the quality of life for others. Best regards and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms there! Brenda Cogswell Zimny
