Best of Britain & Ireland September 16 – October 4, 2021 Tentative Itinerary Welcome aboard Collins Tours’ 19-Day, Best of Britain & Ireland Tour! Outlined below is a thrilling itinerary built for this exceptional getaway to the British Isles. Get lost in the bustling cities and gaze in wonder at the natural beauty of the rolling green hills. With all the activities, excellent locations, quality hotels, and local professional step-on-guides included, I am sure you will agree we have put together an exciting. All this to ensure a carefree and inspirational getaway for you! Carefully review the “Important Information” section (final page) to ensure you understand all the rules for international travel. Your Tour Manager looks forward to meeting you and assisting in creating an exciting and well-managed tour of Ireland. – Sincerely, Greg Collins President & CEO Day 1 – Thu, Sept 16 – Overnight flight Air Canada Toronto-Dublin For those who purchased Collins Tours Inclusive Air, make your way to your local area airport for your assigned flight connecting with your Air Canada flight to Dublin at a Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. NOTE: 1st checked piece of luggage is free for international flights (up to maximum of 50lbs). 2nd bag is additional and based on weight. Additional fees apply for overweight bags. Carry-on luggage is free, with a maximum weight of 22lbs per bag. Visit www.aircanada.com for more details on luggage fees. Luggage payment is paid directly to Air Canada and not included in tour package. Fees are charged on both outbound & return flights. Upon arrival in Dublin the following morning, each passenger will proceed through Irish Customs & Immigration and then to the luggage area to collect your luggage. Your Tour Director will meet in the baggage claim area after you collect your own luggage. We make our way to the deluxe motorcoach, have all bags loaded on the coach and make our way to our first city centre hotel together. Day 2 – Fri, Sept 17 – Arrive in Dublin, Clayton Hotel (Welcome Reception) • Please note: While an early check-in request has been made, hotel rooms are not guaranteed until 3:00 p.m. Our hotel accommodation is located on a busy commercial road in the Dublin 4 district. This relaxed hotel is 4km from the convention center and 1 km from St. Stephen’s Green. Polished rooms have complimentary Wifi, safe and mini-fridge. There are 2 restaurants, 1 bar and a lobby café as well. • Take time to freshen up before our “Welcome Reception” (location TBA), including a glass of wine/beer and light appetizers, and a chance to meet your fellow traveling companions (Included). • Following our reception and dinner, the remainder of the evening is at your leisure in fantastic and magical Dublin, Ireland. Sláinte! Day 3 – Sat, Sept 18 – Clayton Hotel, Dublin (B, D) • After some well deserved rest, wake up to a delightful Irish buffet breakfast (included). • Today we will meet our step-on guide for a 4-hour tour of an overview into one of the best cities in Europe. Tour local attractions such as the St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Temple Bar area and other local sights plus a tour of Guinness Brewery Storehouse!
Tentative Itinerary – Best of Britain & Ireland • Enjoy lunch on own after our tour or choose to sample a pint of Guinness in one of the 666 licensed pubs in Dublin. Dublin produces an astonishing 10 million pints of Guinness…daily! • Explore the city this afternoon at your leisure and some time back at the hotel to freshen up before you meet the group for our “Welcome Dinner” (Included, location TBA). Enjoy this dinner complete with a complimentary glass of wine or beer included. We will have an Irish toast, “May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door” to the beginning of a great tour with your new friends. Day 4 – Sun, Sept 19 - Dublin – Killarney Plaza Hotel & Spa (B) • An Irish buffet breakfast is included this morning at your hotel. Please have your tagged luggage outside of your room ready for pick up this morning. • Board your motorcoach as we make our way today to the Blarney Castle, built over 600 years ago. Blarney Castle was built by one of Ireland’s greatest Chieftains, Cormac McCarthy, and has become one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. Kiss the famed Blarney Stone (depending on wait times), known for its gift of eloquence and you will never again be lost for words! We have allotted a 2 ½ hour visit at the Castle including time for lunch (your expense). Then travel to Killarney, in the county Kerry. • Our hotel for the next two nights is the 4-star Killarney Hotel & Spa. Relax as your bags are taken to your room for you, once again (included) Day 5 – Mon, Sept 20 - Killarney-Ring of Dingle-Killarney (B, D) • Wake up and enjoy another delightful Irish breakfast (included). Today’s highlight is travelling around the Ring of Dingle. Our local guide will meet us for an all- day tour. The amazing scenery will take us past Killorglin and onto Glenbeigh. We make our way along the cliff roads that offer up amazing panoramic views of the Dingle Peninsula and Dingle Bay. The Dingle Peninsula stretches 48 kilometers into the Atlantic Ocean. Take in this breathtaking scenery! • Lunch today (on own) in a location along our route. • Take time to relax before a group dinner with glass of wine/beer (included) at our hotel restaurant. Day 6 – Tues, Sept 21 – Killarney – Galway Hotel TBA (B) • Time for another Irish breakfast (included). Meet your Tour Manager on the coach as we make our way to Bunratty Castle (entrance included). • Built in 1425, it is the most complete and authentic medieval castle in Ireland. The Castle was restored in 1954 and now contains mostly 15th and 16th century furnishings. • During your visit you have time for lunch before departing making our way to Galway. Enjoy a scenic drive through Ireland’s Cliffs of Moher! • Spend the rest of the evening as you please. Dinner is on your own as many options are within walking distance of our fabulous hotel. Tentative Itinerary – Best of Britain & Ireland Day 7 – Wed, Sept 22 – Galway – Markree Castle, Sligo Bay (B, D) • Another delightful Irish breakfast waits for you this morning. Take some time to get ready before today’s highlight, the Corrib River Cruise. • Sit back and enjoy this sailing complete with an authentic Irish Dancing demonstration and some world- famous Irish coffee (admission & coffee included). Sip your coffee as we make our way past historical sites, castles and local landmarks. Lunch break will follow. • We board the coach and make our way through Connemara for a stop in Clifden – a town known for its marble. After a brief 1 hour stop in Clifden, we continue to today’s destination, Markree Castle! • Take time to freshen up at the hotel before joining your fellow travelers in the hotel lobby where we board the coach for a short transfer to our group dinner with wine or beer at Brasserie on the Corner in downtown Galway. Day 8 – Thurs, Sept 23 – Sligo Bay – Marine Hotel, Ballycastle, NI (B, D) • Wake up and enjoy another Irish breakfast. Your tour manager will handle check out. • We will board the coach and set our sights on historical Derry where we are joined by a local step on guide for a walking tour of the 6th century walled city steeped in centuries-old and recent history alike. Listen to the stories from long ago and appreciate the beauty all around. • After an hour for lunch (on own), we board the motorcoach for a drive north to the Giant’s Causeway. The Giant’s Causeway is a geological phenomenon formed over 60 million years ago! (Entrance fee included). This incredible landmark is one of Northern Ireland’s most visited sites, and for good reason! • After our visit to the Giant’s Causeway, we take a short ride to the Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery for a tour and a sample of the world-famous Irish whisky. • Upon arrival at the Marine Hotel in Ballycastle, your tour guide will handle check in and have your bag sent to your room. The rest of the evening is yours to spend as you choose. Dinner this evening is on your own. Day 9 – Fri, Sept 24 - Ballycastle – The Dakota, Glasgow, Scotland (B) • Following another Irish breakfast, we depart Ballycastle and make our way to Belfast where we welcome a local guided onto the motorcoach to provide a tour of the city. Learn of “The Struggle” while driving along the Falls and Shankill Roads. • After our tour of the city, we make our way to Larne where board our ferry for Cairnryan, Scotland. • Once we dock and disembark the ferry, we will make the 2-hr drive to Glasgow, our home for the next two nights. • After checking into our hotel, the tour manager will have bags sent to your room and you can enjoy the rest of the evening at your own leisure. Dinner is on your own. Day 10 – Sat, Sept 25 – Glasgow (B) • After breakfast, this morning we are greeted by our local step-on guide for a morning tour enjoying the highlights of what Glasgow has to offer. Stop at a local distillery and see the world-renowned process of whiskey (distillery and Scotch tasting included) making. • Enjoy free time in Glasgow’s Square or perhaps shop for local souvenirs. • The rest of the day and evening is yours to enjoy as you please. Day 11 – Sun, Sept 26 – Glasgow – Royal Highlands Hotel, Inverness (B, D) • After a buffet breakfast, we travel to the Scottish Highlands touring the area known for its mysterious folklore as well as its mountainous peaks. Tentative Itinerary – Best of Britain & Ireland • Today we will visit Urquhart Castle (Entrance fee included), for some pictures overlooking Loch Ness, then continuing to our hotel in Perth for the evening. Today will be a picturesque day with a lunch stop scheduled conveniently along our route (not included in tour price). • We expect a late afternoon arrival to our hotel for the next two nights – The Royal Highlands Hotel in Inverness. The tour manager will have bags sent to your rooms where you will have time to freshen up before dinner. • Tonight, enjoy your group dinner (included) in the company of fellow travelers. Day 12 – Mon, Sept 27 – Inverness (B) • Enjoy another Scottish Buffet breakfast this morning before welcoming a local guide to take us to a few of the most iconic sites in Inverness. • A lunch stop has been scheduled along the way for your comfort and convenience. • We return to our hotel this afternoon where you have time to relax or enjoy Inverness at your own pace. • Dinner this evening, is on your own. Day 13 – Tues, Sept 28 – Inverness – Courtyard Marriott, Edinburgh (B, Optional D) • Enjoy another Scottish Buffet breakfast this morning before we check out of our hotel. Please remember to cover any personal incidental charges. • Today we travel to Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, with a stop in St. Andrews, considered the birthplace of modern golf and home to the famous “Old Course”, along the way. We welcome a local guide to teach us of St. Andrews’ extensive history! • After our visit and lunch in St. Andrews, we continue south to the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh. We arrive late afternoon to the beautiful Courtyard Marriott where the Tour Manager will take care of check in and the bag service. • Tonight, choose to join us for a highlight of our trip – a traditional Scottish dinner theatre and return transportation)! Day 14 – Wed, Sept 29 – Edinburgh (B, D) • After breakfast this morning, join our local step-on guide as they show us Edinburgh Castle, Old Town, Royal Mile and more. • Explore the city this afternoon and take in the sites of the historic centre. Perhaps a visit to Holyrood House or a difficult but rewarding hike to the top of Arthur’s Seat is on your bucket list. • Join your tour manager and fellow travelers for another delicious group dinner with wine or beer at an upscale restaurant near our hotel. Day 15 – Thurs, Sept 30 – Edinburgh – Radisson Blu, Liverpool, England (B) • Wake up and enjoy another delicious breakfast. Your tour manager will handle check out and we board the coach with our sights set on the home of Fab Four – Liverpool, England! • We have scheduled multiple stops – including lunch, along the way for your convenience. • We expect a mid-afternoon arrival at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Liverpool. This exhibit houses the largest collection of Beatles memorabilia in the world! • Dinner and the remainder of the evening is on your own. Day 16 – Fri, Oct 1 – Liverpool – Clayton Hotel, Cardiff, Wales (B, D) • Following breakfast, we check out and board the motorcoach as we continue south. Today, our destination is the capital of Wales – Cardiff. • Once again, multiple rest stops, including lunch have been planned along the way for your convenience. • A mid afternoon arrival is expected in Cardiff. • Your tour manager will check you into the Clayton Hotel and have bags sent to your room. • Join your tour manager and fellow travelers for another delicious group dinner with wine or beer at an upscale restaurant near our hotel. Day 17 – Sat, Oct 2 – Cardiff – Bath - London Hotel TBA (B) • Wake up and enjoy another breakfast (included). Please board the coach this morning as head east towards one of the world’s greatest cities! • This morning, we stop in the ancient Roman city of Bath. • After our visit in Bath, we have a lunch stop scheduled before the final leg of our journey to London. • We anticipate a mid-afternoon arrival into London. Your tour manager will check you into our hotel and have luggage sent to your rooms. • Our centrally located hotel offers you so many of London’s iconic sites that can be reached on foot! Perhaps a walk through the West End theater district or a shopping spree on Bond Street is what you are after. Visit Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, or the Palaces of Westminster (Big Ben Clocktower) and become acquainted with this beautiful and exciting city! • Enjoy the afternoon and evening the way you choose. Dinner is on your own this evening. Day 18 – Sun, Oct 3 – London (B, Farewell Dinner) • After another delicious breakfast, get ready for an amazing guided tour of London! A local professional will step on the bus with us to take us around this historic city, highlighting many of the most notable landmarks, including: St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, before concluding with a peaceful boat ride along the banks of the Thames River. • The rest of the afternoon can be enjoyed on your own. • Join your tour manager and fellow passengers for our “Farewell Dinner” with wine or beer included.
