From the Pastor Dear Parishioners, Happy Advent. I hope the season finds you preparing the way for the Christ child. I love this time of the year. All the traditions, music, cookies (peanut butter with the chocolate kiss in the middle), lights and parties make this a magical month. But all that is for Him. If we forget the baby, we forget ourselves and what we are about. So make sure you pray as you go. That way when we get to Christmas, we won’t feel like we missed it again. Rather, we will know that we made it because we made it about the baby. Just another note of thanks for one of our groups. We have a wonderful ministry called Fully Engaged where married couple meet with our engaged couples to mentor them as they get close to their wedding. With all the weddings we have, these couples do an enormous service and I want to thank them personally. They are led by Beth and Matthew Swiderski and assisted by Steve and Jackie Balster, Pat and Sarah Griffin, Eric and Becky Groth and George and Lisa Spyrnal. We are grateful to them for sharing their love for Christ and sacramental marriage. And it is a huge a help to the priests as we prepare couples for their great wedding day and their future of married life. Peace, Msgr. I took this photo last Monday evening out in front of the rectory. Breakfast with Santa Join the Knights of Columbus for a breakfast with Santa for the whole family! St. Patrick’s School St. Pat’s Men’s Bible Study Testimonial How often have you started to read the bible and given up? I have, many times. However, about 12 years ago I joined the “St. Patrick Men’s Bible Study” (SPMBS) group at our parish through an invitation from a member. It has been a rewarding and uplifting journey getting to know and understand God and our salvation history. Many in the study group have been participants much longer, a reflection of its’ acceptance and success. The weekly study consists of each participant reading a small assigned portion of the bible, completing a workbook with study points (optional), watching a video presentation on the content, followed by a group discussion. I have found the Men’s Bible Study very rewarding. It has helped me in understanding and growing my faith. Also, the study has increased my desire to learn more. Many scholars have noted that the Bible is not just a book, but an entire library, with drama, tragedy, poetry, song, hope, love and more. The men’s bible study is a wonderful way to increase our knowledge and strengthen our faith. Please consider joining us this upcoming semester. WHEN: beginning Jan 19, 2023, 7 PM. WHERE: St. Pat’s Crane Road. Email Frank Positano at frankpositano@comcast.net to register 8
