What is Oman IoT/AI Challenge Oman IoT&AI Challenge is a country wide capacity building and pre- incubation program for High School Students, Senior University Students and Startups that have innovative ideas in the areas of Internet of Things(IoT) & Artificial Intelligence(AI) and related fields. The challenge is not just a competition, it’s a digital transformation movement, that’s why it delivers training and workshops to the participants and provides them with all the needed support. After the training, participants compete in the local finals, then winners from each country get qualified to the regional finals within the IEEE Global Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (GCAIoT) in Dubai in December. The Challenge is a part of Arab IoT AI Challenge as part of the digital transformation movement of the organization. Joining the competition will open every team participant to enhance their skills in developing projects in Internet of things and Artificial Intelligence through workshops and training during the entire length of the competition. The winner of this competition will be the first entry of Oman to the Regional Finals within the IEEE Global Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (GCAIoT) in Dubai in December 2021. 1
Participation Criteria High Schools - Senior high school students in STEM schools across Oman to get trained on design thinking and selected technical topics related to new technologies (mainly IoT & AI) in a summer program (July- August). By the end of the program, students are required to deliver a graduation project showcasing what they have learnt. Graduation Projects - University and College Graduation Projects Presented for the Academic Year 2020-2021 Incoming senior university students undergoing for Graduation Project of related schools who are willing to make their graduation project in one of the IoT&AI fields in general, no specific theme for this track, it can be in healthcare, fintech, education, mobility, etc. The target is to spread the IoT&AI knowledge and help students learn more technical and business skills to develop useful, commercial applications. Participants get access to technology and innovation resources and get the opportunity for financial support/sponsorship for their projects a swell. 2
Startups - A pre incubation program for the startups that are already working or willing to work in IoT&AI applications. Participants from the previous Oman IoT Olympics 2018 or Groups who will participate to NETACAD Olympics 2021 which will be on July to September Competition will have opportunity to qualified to the Oman IoT&AI Challenge directly. Participants go through intensive technical; business and innovation trainings and they are offered all needed resources to help them develop working prototypes and business models for their products/ services, with a chance to get incubated in case of winning. Challenge Period Challenge period will begin on July 11 2021, and end on 18 September 2021. 3
Condition of entry Each Submission will be considered one “Entry.” Each Entries must be in English. All entries are subjected to all the official Rules of the Oman IoT/AI Challenge. Sponsor intends to make personnel available to assist all Entrants in developing their submissions during the Challenge Period. Entries may NOT contain the following, and Entrants are solely responsible for ensuring that each Entry submitted does NOT contain: -Trade secrets or other information that is inappropriate to share with the public. -Any third-party software or other content that would (a) require Sponsor to obtain licenses or permissions from any third parties, (b) require Sponsor to make payments to any third parties, or (c) otherwise prevent Sponsor from exercising its rights described below. -Copyrighted materials (whether registered or unregistered) that are owned by third parties, without permission from the copyright owner(s). 4
-Trademarks owned by parties other than Sponsor or the entrant submitting the Entry (whether registered or unregistered), without permission of the trademark owner(s)). -Information that defames, misrepresents, or contains disparaging remarks about Sponsor, Sponsor’s products, any person, company or product. -Messages or images inconsistent with the Sponsor's brand and company, including, but not limited to, obscene or inappropriate material. -Content that violates any country laws. Illegible, incomplete or inaccurate Entries, Entries that do not comply with these Official Rules, and Entries that cannot be accessed by the Sponsor and judges will be disqualified. All information collected from Entries shall be deemed collected and judged by Oman IoT/AI Challenge committee. 5

Submission Guidelines The participating teams need to submit all the below mentioned collaterals on with appropriate details mentioned in the Submission of the repository to ensure that your submission is complete. 1. Upload the ideation document in .doc or .pdf format with font size 12, single spacing, Times New Roman font. The document should include the following details only: i. What is the uniqueness/novelty added by you to the defined problem statement? ii. How is the proposed solution impacting the business? How are the business processes simplified or bringing value over the existing process? iii. Architectural flow of the proposed solution, with the mention of technologies to be used in developing the solution. iv. Define the scope of work to be implemented in the project with modules etc. 7
2. Presentation: Upload the presentation about the project developed with following details:: i. Name of the problem statement opted to solve. ii. Team size and Name of team members with pictures. iii. RRole of team members in the project and their expertise areas. iv. Technologies/Platform/APIs used. v. Architecture diagram of the project. vi. DFD's and low diagrams of the project. vii. EEaborate the frameworks/tools used for UI/UX design. There will be separate 3. Video : Upload a 5-minute video of the working solution, navigating through various screens and steps of the solution that you have developed. 4. README file : Upload a Readme document with step wise instructions to run the code from the scratch. 5. Documentation: Upload the Documentation of the project with proper comments and appropriate naming convention followed in the Challenge guidelines. 6. Undertaking Document : Upload an undertaking document in a .doc/.pdf format stating the originality of the submitted work. 8
Selection of potential winners On or about September 20 – 28 2021 will be the judging week for the challenge. A team of qualified judges selected by Sponsor and by the organizing committee will review all submitted Entries. To be considered as a Finalist, Entries must: • Showcase Oman to represent to the regional Arab IoT/AI Challenge . • Showcase an innovative design in Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence • Showcase the ability to either: a. connect data (through personalization, IoT, etc.) or connect consumer experiences (via mobile, augmented reality, etc.) or connect intelligence (like AI, automated decisioning, etc.) 9
The judges will score the Entries based on the following criteria: This is the scale for scoring in the below table: 0= Information was not provided 1= Needs to be developed 2= Good 3= Very Good 4= Creative/Innovative Criteria Percent Score Market Need/Opportunity: • Market need/opportunity is well identified? • Market need/opportunity is compelling? Approach & Value Proposition: • Clear value proposition? • Proposed product/idea serves the need? Technology: • Proper use of technology in implementing the proposed idea/product? • Technologies used are suitable AIoT technologies? Prototype: • Correct design methodology used to create prototype?Functional prototype is demonstrated? • Clear understanding of the current stage of the product? • Has a clear understanding on how to proceed from prototype to product? 10
Criteria Percent Score Market: • Who will buy it (target market)? • Size of market is identified and compelling? Benefits & Competition: • Identified existing and potential competition? • Identified the competitive advantage of product/service? • Clearly defined possible barriers to entry. • Intellectual Property (IP) involved? Business Model & Financials: • Identified price of the product/service? • Cost to produce it. • Clear business model demonstrated for envisioned company? • States specific investment goals? Team: • Team contains the required basic interdisciplinary expertise to build the product. • Team has required leadership to tackle the next period? 11
In the case of a tie, the Entry that receives the highest score in sum of the Technology and Prototype category will be deemed to be a potential winner. The potential winner(s) will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability/Publicity Release ("Affidavit") within ten (10) business days following notification. If organizing committee is unable to reach a potential winner, the Affidavit is not properly completed and returned to Sponsor within ten (10) business days from the date it was sent to a potential winner, if a prize or prize notification is returned as non‐deliverable, or if a potential winner is found not to have complied with these Official Rules in any way, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. 12
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION AND WINNING: By entering the Oman IoT/AI Challenge, the Team agreed to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Oman IoT/AI Challenge organizing committee and the judges, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Challenge. As between Team and Oman IoT/AI Challenge, the intellectual property rights to an Entry, if any, will remain with the Oman IoT/AI Challenge organizing committee, except that these Official Rules do not supersede any other assignment or grant of rights according to any other separate agreement between Oman IoT/AI Challenge organizing committee and other parties. As a condition of entry, each Entrant agrees that Oman IoT/AI Challenge organizing committee shall have the right to use, copy, modify and make available any Entry and any submitted application or code in connection with the operation, conduct, administration, advertising and promotion of Oman IoT/AI Challenge to Arab IoT/ AI Challenge, its products, and this Challenge, including, but not limited to the right to make use of the Entries to the public for promotional and publicity purposes. Reasonable requests to anonymise certain aspects of an Entry will be honored should an Entrant otherwise not be permitted to participate in the Challenge. 13
Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for, and a winner's consent to, Sponsor and its agencies to use Entrant’s name and/or likeness and Entry for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. An Entrant may be prohibited from participating in this Challenge if, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, it reasonably believes that the Entrant has attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of this Challenge by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or annoys, abuses, threatens or harasses any other Entrants, Sponsor or Sponsor's associated agencies. Any false information provided within the context of the Challenge by any Entrant concerning identity, email address, postal address, telephone number, ownership of right or non‐ compliance with these Official Rules or the like may result in the immediate elimination of the Entrant from the Challenge. Oman IoT/AI Challenge organizing committee further reserves the right to disqualify any Entry that it believes, in its sole and unfettered discretion, infringes upon or violates the rights of any third party or otherwise does not comply with these Official Rules. Prizes are conditioned on verification that Sponsor's provision, and Entrant's acceptance, of a prize, complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and/or rules of Entrant's nation, state or province, locality and/or employer. 14
