Battlefield 2: Modern Combat – Tournament 2007 Official Rules 1. Sign-Up Registration for the Tournament closes the earlier of Sat, March 24, 2007 by 10am or when entire bracket of 40 players is full (the “Registration Period”). To sign up, log on to http://www.holo-dek.com. You must have a team of 5 players (also called a “clan”) to participate. Each clan must select a clan leader and a clan name (“Clan Tag”). The clan leader must reserve space for the clan and each individual member of the clan must sign up for the Tournament. Each clan in the Tournament must provide a unique Clan Tag not submitted by another clan. In the event that multiple clans submit the same name, the name will be assigned to the first clan to request it and the clan leader of the other clans will be contacted and asked to select a new Clan Tag. Holo-dek will receive and record all entries into the tournament. Limit one entry per person. A $20 entry fee per person will be charged for the tournament. 2. Eligibility Tournament play is only open to residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. This Tournament is void in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Tennessee and Vermont and where prohibited by law. Employees of Holo-dek, Electronic Arts Inc. (“Sponsor”), and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parents, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies (“Sponsor and its agents”) and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of each are not eligible. Tournament is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. 3. Tournament Round Structure, and Play Instructions The Tournament The tournament will take place on PC with slots for 8 teams. Each clan must consist of 5 players, for a maximum total of 8 clans and 40 Participants. For the tournament to take place, a minimum of 4 clans must be registered at the time the tournament begins. This will be a single-elimination tournament of 8 brackets of clans. Clans must win 2 out of three matches to advance to the next bracket. Winners of each bracket will advance towards the championship. The entire Tournament will be played online and monitored and managed by Holo-dek. Clans will play on 1 map per round. The winning clan of each round will be the clan with the most points at the end of the round. Should there be a tie, a pre-determined tie-breaker map will be played by the tied clans to determine the winning clan that will advances to
the next round in the Tournament. The non-winning clan in each round will be eliminated from the Tournament. Playing and Matches: Clans must be logged in and ready to play 10 minutes before the official start of their match. Clans that fail to show up on time will be forfeited the match. Although official matches will be played with 10 players on each team, a minimum of 8 players on a team is required to avoid a forfeit. Should a team be able to field only 8 players for a given match, the opposing team has the option to play with 10 players or play with 8. There are no “second chances” for forfeits. Once a match is forfeited, the game is over and the winner advances. Team Roster: The maximum number of players on a team’s roster is 5. Team members are to be on the roster in their entirety before the current week’s match begins. All players must include their PB GUIDs in their information to ensure the non-use of ringers or people not on the roster. Team Members: No player may be a member of, or play for, more than one team in the Tournament at any time. If a player is found to be a member of more than one team, or to have played for a team when their name was not on the allowed players list for that game, they will be removed from the Tournament and their team may be awarded a forfeit loss or disqualified from the Tournament. Before Match Start: When all players are connected type “pb_plist” to check the PB GUIDs to ensure all players connected are from their respective teams’ roster. If there is a player found to be not on the roster and is in the server, the player will be considered ineligible to play and must disconnect from the server 10 minutes prior to the match start time. If the match begins and there was no complaint made before the match start, the player will be considered eligible and any disputes of the player being ineligible will be thrown out. It is the responsibility of both teams to ensure that the server is running the correct BF2 World Tournament Configuration. If the match begins and there is a dispute about the server settings after the completion of the round/match, it will not be considered by the World Tournament admins. Once both teams have announced through captains of their readiness, the server admin will issue a map restart command, which will restart the map without completely reloading it. Only the Team Captain(s) is (are) to talk on GLOBAL chat. Match Play: Format: The match play is Conquest mode.
The match style will be 5 vs. 5. Format: Current Patch: 1.41 Current Mod Version: 1.1.5 Type of Gameplay: Conquest Number of Maps: 1 Number of Teams: 2 Members per Squad: 5 (4 minimum) Time Limit: 30 Minutes Friendly Fire: ON Rounds: 3 (Best 2 out of 3) Map Selection: Venue Selected Mods: Point of Existence 2 Side Selection: Visitor Demo Recording: On Commander Mode: • All Commander Assets are legal Vehicles/Stationary Guns: • Legal - Stationary Guns • Illegal - All vehicles & vehicle mounted weaponry Map List: • Dragon Valley (16) • FuShe Pass (16) • Songhua Stalemate (16) • Zatar Wetlands (16) A 5-minute break can be taken between rounds if the captains of both teams agree to it. Matches will be played on the latest official release of Battlefield 2 at match time, as reported on www.battlefield2.com. Joining the Server: There is a maximum of 5 players per side needed to proceed with a match. Teams should have their players on the appropriate server no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled match time. Failure to meet this requirement will result in an immediate forfeit against the non-compliant party. Both teams should be ready to play no later than 30 minutes from the scheduled match time (unless agreed upon by both parties). Failure to agree to start the match at this time will result in forfeiture by the non-compliant party. An admin must be contacted immediately if this occurs. If a team wishes to play with less than 5, we encourage it as long as it is done in a mature fashion, but the team who has 5 will not be penalized in any way, shape, or form if their
opponent decides to play with less than 5 players. A team that is organized and has the appropriate number of players ready will not be penalized for their opponent’s lack of organization. Substituted Players/Rejoining: Due to the nature of the Internet, it is possible for players to be disconnected from their provider or dropped from a server. Should this happen you may substitute an eligible player to fill the spot or the dropped player may rejoin. However, upon joining the server the player must rejoin their team’s side immediately. Anyone joining the opposing team’s side for over 45 seconds will be considered observing and will subject their team to forfeiture or replaying of the match. Due to the sizes of some teams, it is acceptable to rotate players at the beginning of new rounds. However, this should be done in a timely manner that does not hinder the progress of the game. In other words, please have your teammates "waiting in the wings." Demo Recording:
It is mandatory that all servers run Battlefield Recorder (Demos). You are not allowed to share these demos to anyone without the permission of both teams. (Example: Posting them on the internet). Scoring: Each team must take a screenshot at the end of each round of a match, showing the tickets remaining. At the end of the match, each team totals its remaining tickets from each round. The team with the higher total remaining tickets is the winner. Example: Round 1: Alpha – 10 | Bravo – 0 Round 2: Bravo – 20 | Alpha – 0 Total Score: Alpha – 10 | Bravo – 20 In the example, Bravo has won the match, by virtue of having more tickets than Alpha after the completion of both rounds. Match Reporting: Results are to be reported by either the WINNING or LOSING team's Captain as soon as the match is completed. Report the winners in total ticket fashion for each round Please note: SCREENSHOTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUMBIT A SCORE. Please make sure that you take your screenshots after every round end. Failure to Report: Failing to report will result in your team's removal from the tournament, unless there is a dispute. Disputing a match without evidence will be treated in the following manner. 1st time) Your team forfeits the match. 2nd time) Your team is removed from competition. Server Crashes: With the inability to restart a server with exact ticket numbers, server crashes will be handled in the following manner: If the server crashes in round 1, the entire match will be replayed. If the server crashes in round 2, if it is in the first 10 minutes that round is to be replayed, however, after that, get a screenshot of the remaining score and the admins will look into the situation. Sportsmanship: Players are expected to conduct themselves in match play with a professional and courteous attitude towards other players and admins at all times. Unsportsmanlike behavior consists of constant global spamming, taunting and direct insulting.
Any unsportsmanlike conduct reported to the admins and verified can lead to disciplinary action against said player(s) or even the team itself if severe and blatant enough to warrant such actions. Severe and gross misconduct may even lead to more severe repercussions such as dismissal of a team. Said resolutions will be entirely at the discretion of the admins in conjunction with the organizer, Stealth97, and will be final. ONLY a Team Captain will use Global chats during matches. Teams that have excessive global chats beyond the customary "good game" etc. may be subject to punishments including forfeit, and removal. Matches are to start at the agreed time and a 15-minute grace period will be allowed should a team run late or have a problem rounding up members. After this grace period, the team with members present and waiting on the designated server should contact an admin immediately on IRC or via email. Cheating and 'Exploiting': Cheating does not really need to be defined. Any attempt to gain an unfair advantage is cheating. This includes modifying the game files, running memory resident cheats, or anything else beyond the normal scope of the game. 'Exploiting' refers to exploiting a bug in the game itself to gain an advantage. This may take the form of setting a variable to a value that gives an unexpected result, using a 'hole' in the map that was not expressly designed to gain access to an area etc. Anything beyond what the programmers intended is considered a bug, and using a bug to gain an advantage is considered an exploit. You are not allowed to use a NO-CD crack as this will conflict with MD5-checksums. Spawn blocking will be considered an exploit; any teams found using this will forfeit their match. Because of the difficulty of defining what is a bug that is being exploited, what is just a 'little odd' or something that has been accepted by the community as part of the game (such as bunny-hopping in the Quake series of games) any team that intends to use anything that MAY be considered an exploit must verify that it is acceptable with a World Tournament Admin BEFORE the match commences. Bug Exploits / Cheating: Teams must not profit from any player cheating or exploiting a bug in the game. It is the team captains' responsibility to ensure that their players follow the rules. Teams must not use any player who is not listed in the team’s roster. Teams must not have more than 8 players connected to the server at any time. If the team captains have any doubt whatsoever about whether something that the team or a player in the team is going to do may be considered to be a bug exploit or cheating, they
should clear it with a World Tournament Admin before it is used. Failure to do this is no excuse. Disputes: If you are disputing the loss you must report it to an Admin via IRC or email within 12 hours of match end. Once a match has started, it is understood that both teams agree to the terms of the match (Server Settings, Rosters, etc). If there is a disagreement of match terms AFTER round/match completion, the disagreement will be thrown out. All disputes will be handled by the captains first reporting it, and the Admins dealing with it. If you feel any bias has occurred, you may contact a World Tournament Admin, and he will be happy to help you with your concern. If you are reporting a dispute, include the following information: Please name both clans involved in the match. Please describe your position fully; we cannot make rulings on disputes without complete information. Please have either demos or screenshots available if requested for verification. Handle all issues, disputes, and matches with maturity. You are representing your team and country; do so in a respectable, calm and polite manner. Administration: The Sponsor and its agents reserve the right to treat any problems in an individual manner and will utilize their discretion in all issues. Sponsor and its agents decisions are final and binding. Proper language, behavior, and etiquette are mandatory at all times. Failure to comply may result in removal from the Tournament. In no event is vulgarity, profanity or lewd or offensive language or behavior allowed. Sponsor and its agents, and all Participants are to be respected at all times. 4.
