Our prime objective is to preserve Canada’s proud heritage of hunting. We are committed to monitor developments at all levels of government in Canada and to work proactively to ensure that policy development recognizes the rights of hunters and the important contribution hunters make to conservation and to the economy. It is a great honour and privilege to host tonight’s event. The Ottawa Valley SCI Chapter has worked tirelessly to make this event happen President Len Dickinson again. We wanted to bring you new things, but Vice-President John Devenish keep our traditions going, so sit back and enjoy Secretary Rob Abramenko the evening. All exceptional projects Special Guest: on their own, but as a whole, it proves that Scott Chapman – SCI EC HUNTERS truly pay and care about Education, Conservation, Humanity and our future to hunt in Canada. SCI Print of the Year Linda Besse- Stars and Stripes Forever Linda’s painting Stars and Stripes Forever is this year’s Featured Artist of the Year painting. It was one of her African trips which inspired the piece. When she saw the Selous sub-species of the Plains Zebra in Tanzania, their stunning head-to-hoof stripes captivated her. Linda decided a night scene would create the most interesting drama for this iconic African species. And while they cannot see in the dark, she envisioned the zebras’ rapt attention could only mean they heard something. Maybe the soft pad of a slowly moving paw somewhere in the grass? 14

Savage 6.5 Creedmoor Savage Arms has made an investment in its long-range shooting products, extending the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge chambering to nine of its existing rifle models. Since its introduction, the 6.5 Creedmoor has become a popular cartridge among hunters and long-distance shooters alike. The cartridge was introduced by Hornady in 2007 as a modification of the .30 TC, which in turn was based on the 300 Savage. The round was specifically designed for target shooting, but its accuracy and dimensions have allowed it to proliferate in all arenas of rifle shooting. While it has a slower muzzle velocity than longer cartridges like the 6.5mm Rem Mag, its short overall length makes the 6.5 Creedmoor capable of being chambered in short-action bolt guns and AR-10 rifles. Also, the cartridge stays supersonic and maintains its accuracy to past 1,200 yards. Includes a Weaver Kaspa 2.5 x 10 x 44mm Scope
