Introduction: Why Here and Why Now? The junction of Purbrook Way and Hulbert Road, known as Asda Roundabout, is a key junction for east-west traffic in Havant and for access to the A3(M). The junction is currently congested and combined with anticipated levels of local housing and employment development there is expected to be increased traffic delays. To address the problem the County Council has identified an improvement scheme and successfully bid to the Department for Transport for a ‘pinch point’ grant to fund improvements. The grant is only available until end of March 2015. Earlier public consultations identified local concerns about the improvements and the purpose of this consultation is to show how these concerns have been incorporated into the scheme design. www.hants.gov.uk www.hants.gov.uk
Objectives The primary objectives of the scheme are to: • reduce delays • improve traffic capacity at the roundabout • accommodate future traffic growth. The proposed scheme also aims to improve road safety and facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users. It includes measures at the junction of Park House Farm Way and Purbrook Way, which will be improved to slow traffic and improve access for all road users. The local area is important for wildlife and the scheme includes substantial landscaping, with improvements to help wildlife and support biodiversity. www.hants.gov.uk www.hants.gov.uk
