Arts & Culture : Aims & impact Our Arts & Culture programming is never without agenda or intention. We want to surprise, provoke and embrace, to generate and enthuse passion and to create physical plat- forms for LGBTI+ lives and challenges in new and daring ways. Working across both Copenhagen and Malmö with established cultural institutions, grassroots movements, independent artists and everything in-between, we strive to create a pro- gram that is both socially and cultur- ally sustainable. We’ve built an Arts & Culture program with space for both seriousness and shine, that sets the stage for rep- resentation on international and local scope, embodying both structural and personal experiences. Huset 2021 Main House is a space to explore and develop, and perhaps celebrate, what it means to be a young LGBTI+ person, ac- knowledging the opportunities as well as the challenges. During the entire event ‘House Parents’ will be present and ready to talk and to create a sense of safety that ideally makes a home. The House also evokes the feeling of a Dan- ish ‘højskole’, where self-reflection and im- provement is at the core of the experience. Here, the volunteers are not much older than the guests, and make sure to work on an even plane with the visitors. EVENT DESCRIPTION 011
The entire Huset 2021 Main House will have five individual stages including a cinema. Every stage area will be transformed into a room of the house, each with its own theme and gravity. In The Foyer we welcome with introductory talks and 1 :1’s, we are creative in The Garage and eat together in The Dining Room. Your Room at the top floor is reserved for the most sensitive discussions and performances, whilst there will be movie screenings in the Living Room. The movie program is created by the Danish LGBTI+ film festival MIX Copenhagen and shows cinematic representations of the acronym, bending gender and showcasing diversity. We are setting up communal dining every night free for young guests (limited availability). Huset 2021 Main House is alcohol and smoke free. EVENT DESCRIPTION 012

Fluid Festival is located along the canal on Gammel Strand, one of the most beautiful places in the center of Copenhagen. Gam- mel Strand has a rich history of the noncon- forming : from women claiming their inde- pendence by selling fish along the shore and to Natalie Zahle moving her expanding and revolutionary girls school into the building that now houses a modern art institution. Gammel Strand can also boast itself with being one of – if not the – the sunniest pla- zas in Copenhagen, perfect for enjoying in the August sun. With two stages (one large concert stage and one smaller open stage), three large lounge areas, dining areas, drinks bars, a wide ramp along the canal and rafts floating in it, Fluid Festival will be an opportunity for experiences, meetings, presence, love, cele- bration – a unique opportunity to be exactly who you are in the safe understanding that You Are Included. Event Collaborations Asylum, Art and Action The cultural event Asylum, Art and Action is a celebration of LGBTI Refugees. The event is hosted and curated by Danish refugee organisation LGBT Asylum and Freemuse in collaboration with the renowned cultural house Union in Nørrebro, the creative and intercultural heart of Copenhagen. The Tuesday 17 August evening program offers a diverse and engaging artistic pro- gramme, featuring both local and interna- tional artists and speakers aimed at the visibility of LGBTI+ Refugees. The central focus is to build community and support for LGBTI asylum seekers and refugees, and to strongly underline their right of free expres- sion in a political setting where it is all too often denied and overlooked. With a focus on cultural hybridity, the event will invite guests to explore the evening’s theme as an essential element in a living, breathing Copenhagen, and to gain both international and local insights through en- gaging experiences in the field between cul- ture and knowledge. The evening will include an optional dinner catered by Send Flere Krydderier, a socioec- onomic restaurant located inside Union. CULTURAL COLLABORATORS 021
