April 1, 2022 2022 Ohio State Test (OST) Schedule All Clay students enrolled in the classes listed below will be taking the Ohio State Tests this spring (dates indicated below). As all OSTs are administered online, students will need to come to school with a fully charged Chromebook. Biology (regular, honors & retakes) = April 7 American History (regular, honors, AP & retakes) = April 8 Government (regular, honors, AP & retakes) = April 8 Algebra I and Geometry (regular, honors & retakes) = April 27 and April 28 Clay High School will operate on a 2-hour delay schedule on all the testing dates. Only those students scheduled to take a test will be required to start school at 7:50 a.m. All other students not taking the test will begin school at 9:50 a.m. Dismissal on testing days will remain at 2:35 p.m. Morning bus transportation will be provided for both the 7:50 and 9:50 start times. If you have any questions about the testing schedule/days, please contact Mr. Sigg, Ms. Kohler, Mr. Jurski or any CHS counselor. The e en i n ed b Partners in Education. The competition consists of local bakeries, culinary arts students, and pie enthusiasts to compete in several categories. The Clay Culinary students beat other career tech students from Penta, Whitmer, Owen Community College, and the Maritime Academy to bring home a 1st Place A a d f he Be Pie b a Sch l ca eg . Thei inning eci e a a strawberry pretzel pie. Congratulations Aurora, Noah, Nicolas and Chef Andi Lawrence. Limelighter Fundraiser at Chipotle Fill up on some great food while supporting your CHS Limelighters. On Wednesday, April 6, from 5:00 9:00 pm, Chipotle will donate 33% of your food order back to the Limelighters.

Student of the Month Congratulations to Garrett St. John for being named the Genoa Bank/Metro Press March Student of the Month. Garrett was featured in the March 28 edition of the The Press newspaper. Currently, Garrett has a 4.28 cumulative GPA and ranks 7th in his class. He is a member of the Clay Limelighters, Lacrosse Team, and the Boy Scout Troop 112. Garrett is the son of Tammi St. John and plans to major in Computer Science. He is undecided on which college he will attend. Keep up the great work, Garrett! Honor Roll Congratulations to the students that were named member of the CHS Honor Roll for the 2nd and 3rd quarters. There are four levels of the Honor Roll based exclusively on the quarter GPA: Summa Cum Laude (4.0+), Magna Cum Laude (3.75 3.999), Cum Laude (3.5 3.749), and P inci al Li (3.0 3.49). Attached is the list of those students that have achieved the 2nd Quarter Honor Roll and 3rd Quarter Honor Roll for the 2021-2022 school year. HOSA Competition On Thursday, March 21, the Medical Technologies students that qualified for the HOSA State Competition competed in Columbus. Congratulations to the students listed below for placing in the State Competition: Alaysha McCullough & Makenna Granger 10th Place = Health Education Kirsten Montague 8th Place = Behavioral Health Logan Werner, Phillip Baum, Dominic Marquette & Max Garica 7th Place = Community Awareness Kiley Frushour 7th Place = Medical Terminology Special congratulations are extended to the team of Kayli Hierholzer, Jenna Ewerson, Megan Hughes & Alyssa Campos for finishing 3rd in the state and qualifying for the International Competition in Nashville, Tennessee at the end of June. Bark in the Dark On Saturday, May 14, at the Oregon Rec, the National Honors Society will be hosting their annual Service Project. This year NHS will hold Bark in the Dark. This is a 5k event for adults, students and children that can run, walk or jog to benefit the Lucas County Canine Care. Pre- registration costs are $12 (checks made out to the CHS National Honors Society) or $14 on the Hometown Fan App. Check-in for the race begins at 6:00 pm. Sports Swap Do you have sports equipment that is not being used and taking up space in your garage? Have your children outgrown their equipment and need the next size up? Only General Admission tickets will be available at the door. Yearbook and Senior Baby Ad Information The deadline to order the 2021-22 yearbook is May 20, 2022. Orders are placed directly through Jostens using the website www.jostensyearbooks.com. Yearbooks ship home at no additional cost for all 2022 graduates. Pages are filling up for senior baby ads. Please use the attached Senior Graduation Baby Ad for your 2022 graduate. Complete the form and drop it off in the main office or mail to CHS c/o Lisa Joseph. The deadline to place a Baby Ad is TODAY. 4 Year Honor Roll for Graduating Students For over a week, an announcement has been read during the school day instructing all 2022 graduates to check the list of names posted outside the counselor suite. This list contains the graduates we have documented as earning the 4 Year Honor Roll Award and an Honors Diploma. Please have your child check the list of names for accuracy. Please have your child talk with Mrs. Dunsmore or their counselor if they believe there is a discrepancy.

This camp will help develop leadership abilities at a low cost of $100. Participants will also receive a $1,000 scholarship at BGSU. See the attachment for more information. The Genoa Quarry The Genoa Quarry is in desperate need of lifeguards for this summer season. Applicants must be 16 years of age and be willing to work weekdays and weekends. Mercy Health Network The Mercy Health Network is hosting a hiring fair for anyone looking for a job within the Mercy offices/hospitals. They are offering on the spot interviews. Mud Hens The Toledo Mud Hens are currently looking for a Bat Boy for the upcoming season. Any interested students must be at least 16 years old and have reliable transportation

University of Toledo Nursing Camp Students can be an RN for a day and spend time in the nursing labs and the Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center on the Health Science Campus at the University of Toledo. The camp will be held on July 26 & 27 and is targeted to students entering their junior and senior year of high school in the fall of 2022. The registration deadline in June 24 and campers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. University of Toledo Pharmacy Camp The University of Toledo is sponsoring a Pharmacy Camp on June 27 29 with the registration deadline on May 25. Campers will learn what it means to be a pharmacist and can stay in the UToledo Residence Halls overnight for the full student experience. University of Toledo Virtual Cosmetic Science Camp High School students have the opportunity to learn the science behind cosmetics at the University of Toledo. This camp will be held on June 22 24 and is open to students classified as sophomores, juniors and seniors in the fall of 2022. The registration deadline is May 25.
