ALUMNI ATHLETES IN THE NEWS 2018-2019 FALL SEASON Cydnie Martin CK’17 finished her sophomore season playing defender for the Bowdoin College Polar Bears Field Hockey Team. The Polar Bears tied for 4th in conference play and were 6th seed in the NESCAC Tournament. Bowdoin lost to Williams in the quarterfinals. Last season, Cydnie started in one game for the 10-7 Polar Bears who advanced to the NESCAC Semifinals. Cydnie was an All-State and All-Catholic League captain of the Cranes Field Hockey Team and a varsity letter winner in Track and Field. Joey Files CK’15 completed his senior season playing tight end and special teams for the 8th ranked Michigan Wolverines football team. Joey was named Scout Team Player of the Week for Northwestern and made his playing debut against Western Michigan this fall. Joey also played TE against Nebraska. Joey earned Academic All-Big Ten Honors in 2017 and 2018 and plans to return to play his redshirt senior season. Files was a 3-sport athlete for the Cranes and was an All-State, All-Catholic League, and Academic All- Catholic League captain of the Football Team; All- Catholic League captain of the Basketball Team; and a defenseman on the 2015 State Champion Lacrosse Team. Jalen Allen CK’17 finished his sophomore season playing running back for the Lions of Columbia University. The Lions had their first back to back winning season since 1962. Jalen was an Honorable Mention Academic All-State and Academic All-Catholic League captain of the CK Football Team and was a varsity letterman in Track and Field. Tristan Knoer CK’17 finished his sophomore season at linebacker for the Big Red of Dennison University. Dennison clinched their first North Coast Athletic Conference Football Championship in 32 years and received their first NCAA Playoff berth since 1985! The Big Red drew national powerhouse Mount Union in the first round.
Tristan led his team in tackles with 55 (29 solo/26 assists), had 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and a pass break up. Last season, Tristan played in all 10 games and was a special teams standout for the 7-3 Big Red recording 9 solo tackles, 7 assisted tackles, one forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery on the season. Tristan was an Academic All-Catholic League captain of the Cranes Football and Baseball teams. Dan Russell CK’17 was redshirted in his sophomore season for the Lords of Kenyon College football team. Last season, Russell had 17 receptions for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns on the season and was their long snapper. Dan was an 11-sport varsity letter winner for the Cranes in Football, Basketball and was a State Qualifier and Regional Champion captain of the CK Track and Field Team. Tim Hauxwell CK’18 was redshirted in his freshman season playing on the offensive line for the 4-6 Huskies of Michigan Tech. Tim was 2nd Team AP All-State, Detroit News Honorable Mention All-State and All-County North, and All-Catholic League for the Cranes District Championship Football Team and Honorable Mention All-State, Honorable Mention All-Metro and All-Catholic League captain of the CHSL Championship Basketball Team. Trevor McConnell CK’18 completed his freshman season playing quarterback for the 5-5 Polar Bears of Ohio Northern. Trevor led the junior varsity offense this season to gain valuable playing experience. Trevor was an AP Honorable Mention All-State, Detroit News Honorable Mention All-State and All- County North, and All-Catholic League captain of the Cranes District Champion Football Team and was a letterman on the CK Baseball Team. Adam Samet CK’18 completed his freshman season playing on the offensive line for the Kenyon Lords. Adam played both offensive and defensive line for the Cranes District Championship Football Team.
Pierson Cook CK’18 was redshirted his freshman season as a punter for the Commodores of Vanderbilt. Pierson was a 1st Team All-State, AP Honorable Mention All-State, Detroit News 2nd Team All-State and All-County North, and All-Catholic League kicker for the Cranes District Champion Football Team. Christopher Smith CK’18 finished his freshman season playing defensive tackle for the Crimson of Harvard and had 2 solo tackle, 9 assists and a half sack. Christopher was captain of Cranbrook’s first District Championship Team and was 2-time All-State and 4-time All Catholic League. Smith was also captain for the CK CHSL Championship Basketball Team. Marqis Stokes CK’18 completed his freshman season playing defensive back for the 8-3 Oilers of Findlay. Unfortunately, Marqis sustained a season ending knee injury this season and was redshirted. Stokes was an All-Catholic League and Honorable Mention All-County captain of the District Champion Cranes Football Team and a State Qualifier and Regional Finalist as a sprinter for the Cranes Track and Field Team. Cordelia Chan CK’15 is competing in her senior season for the Ephs of Williams College. Cordelia was chosen to be Captain of the NCAA 8th ranked Ephs Team this season. In the spring season, the Ephs won the Amherst Tournament for the first time in program history smashing records along the way. Cordelia led her team as Medalist of the Tournament. At the NCAA Championships, Cordelia had an amazing four days finishing the tournament as the medalist and NCAA National Champion! The Ephs finished NCAA Runner-Up for the second straight year. The Ephs also won the 2018 NESCAC Championship in the fall. In the fall Mt Holyoke Invitational, Cordelia not only beat her own 18-hole record of 67, she also broke the school 36-hole record (144) set in 2012. Cordelia earned All- NESCAC honors for the fourth consecutive year.
Last season, Chan finished as runner-up medalist in all three of the Ephs fall season matches and helped to lead her team to a two-hole playoff for the NCAA Division III National Championship. After four days of play, the Ephs finished National Champion Runner-Up! Cordelia finished 15th overall in the Championships and was named 2nd Team All-American (for the 3rd straight year) and to the All-Region East Team (for the 2nd straight year) and earned All-NESCAC honors for the 3rd straight year and was chosen as the NESCAC Player of the Year. As a sophomore, Cordelia helped the Ephs earn an 8th consecutive NCAA National Tournament berth where she finished 11th to lead her team to a 4th place finish. Cordelia won the Williams Invitational and added three other top-10 finished to earn All-NESCAC 2nd Team honors. Chan finished 10th at the 2016 NESCAC Championship. The Ephs repeated as NESCAC Champions. Cordelia earned 2nd Team All-American honors. In her freshman season, Cordelia and her team set single and two-day records as the Ephs had never shot below 300 as a team to win the Mount Holyoke Invitational. Cordelia had a school record setting second round score of 68 to win the event. The Ephs finished 5th in the NCAA Tournament and Cordelia led her team placing 9th in the Nation. Cordelia was recognized by Sports Illustrated “Faces in the Crowd” for her debut season of competition on the intercollegiate golf scene in NCAA Division III. Cordelia finished the season with a stroke average of 77.70 and was 1st Team All-NECAC, named NECAC Rookie of the Year, earned All-Northeast Region and Honorable Mention All-American Honors. Cordelia was an MHSAA Two-time State Champion and earned Dream Team, All-State, All- County, All-Region, All-Catholic and Academic All-Catholic honors while serving as captain for the State Runner-Up CK Girls Golf Team. Cordelia was also selected to the Catholic League Hall of Fame Class of 2019. Molly Weiner CK’16 is playing golf in her junior season for the Dutchwomen of Union College. Molly led the Dutchwomen in the fall New York University Invitational to finish 21st overall and earned Liberty League All-Academic honors in the fall and spring. This spring the Dutchwomen finished 5th in the Liberty League Championships and Molly led her team shooting 170 to finish 12th overall. Molly had a record setting season for Union with her 84.44 scoring average which is the lowest in school history and earned Honorable Mention All-Liberty League honors. Last season, Union finished 5th in the Liberty League Championships where Molly finished in the top 25 and earned Liberty League All-Academic honors.
As a freshman, Molly had the team’s top performances in six events including a 2nd place finish against Vassar and the Dutchwomen finished 4th in the William Smith Invitational backed by a 6th place finish by Molly. Molly was honored as the Dutchwomen Most Valuable Player. Molly was an Honorable Mention All-State, and All- Catholic League captain of the State Runner-Up Cranes Golf Team. Carmen Chan CK’18 is in her freshman season playing golf for Wellesley College. Wellesley earned Liberty League Runner-Up for the first time in program history. Carmen was an All-State, Academic All-State,1st Team All- County, and All-Catholic League captain of the Cranes Golf Team. Dylan Deogun CK’15 is in his senior season playing golf for the Spartans of Michigan State. The Spartans placed 3rd in the Big Ten Championships and earned their 4th consecutive NCAA national Tournament bid. The Spartans finished 7th overall in the Pullman Regional Championships. As a junior, Deogun competed in one event and as a sophomore, Dylan saw action in 8 events and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. The Spartans finished 7th in the Big Ten and 7th in the Regional Championship tournament. As a freshman, Dylan competed in in two events and finished 40th at the Clemson Challenge shooting a season low 76. Dylan was an All-State Super Team, All-Oakland County, All-Region and All-District Champion, and captain of the Cranes 2014 State Championship and 2015 State Runner-Up Golf Teams. Dylan was also a Varsity Letterwinner in Ice Hockey. Brandon Karr CK’16 completed his junior season playing golf for the Jumbos of Tufts University who finished 7th at the NEIGA Championships and 4th in the NESCAAC Championships. Last season, Tufts finished 4th at the NESCAC Championships and Brandon was named to the NESCAC All-Conference 2nd Team! As a freshman, Brandon hit Tufts’ first hole in one in 25 years on the par three 18th hole at the Duke Nelson Invitational! Karr finished 26th at that Invitational and at the NESCAC Qualifier, Brandon finished tied for 20th overall.
Brandon was captain of the Cranes Golf Team winning the State Championship in 2014, was a captain of the 2015 CK State Champion Tennis Team, was an Honorable Mention All-County, Regional and State Champion at #3 doubles. Devin Deogun CK’17 is a sophomore member of the Michigan State Spartan Golf Team. So far this season, Devin placed 1st in the Pioneer Creek Collegiate, 7th in the Challenge of Champions, 66th in the Marquette Intercollegiate and 79th in the Grandover Collegiate Tournament. Devin was an individual State Champion, All-State, All-Region and All- Catholic league captain of the Cranes Regional Champion Golf Team. Kaela Mali CK’17 finished her sophomore season starting as a defenseman for the Knights of Carleton College. The Knights posted a strong defense this season, posting 6 shutouts and Kaela was recognized on the All-MIAC Team. Kaela scored her first college goal in her freshman season. Kaela was an Honorable Mention All-State, All-Region, All-District, All- Catholic League and Academic All-Catholic league captain for the Cranes Soccer Team and was a varsity letterman in Track and Field. Trevor Stormes CK’16 finished his junior season at goal keeper for the 9-7-2 Eagles Soccer Team of Emory College. Trevor had 9 saves for a .750 save percentage and had 3 goals against this season. Last season, the 15-5-2 Eagles lost in the quarterfinals of the NCAA National Championships. Trevor has logged 6 saves and had a save percentage of .500 and a 4-1 win/loss record at goal. The Eagles reached the Elite 8 with a 15-5-2 record. Trevor was an All-State, All-County and All-Catholic League captain for the Cranes State semifinalist Soccer Team and a captain for the CK Baseball Team. Cullin Irvine CK’17 finished his sophomore season playing forward for the Transylvania University Pioneers Soccer Team that finished 8-5-6 and fell to Carleton College in a heartbreaking loss in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs. Cullin was an All-District and All-League athlete for the Cranes State semifinalist Soccer Team.
Colin Canning CK’18 was redshirted in his freshman season as a goal keeper for the University of Rochester Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the Final Four Round of the NCAA National Playoffs for the first time in school history. Colin was a 3rd Team All-State, All-Region, 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Conference goalie for the Cranes Soccer Team. Colin was also captain and State Championship Qualifier on the CK Track Team and a letter winner on the CHSL Championship Basketball Team. Margaret Payne CK’16 finished her junior season playing middle hitter on the Miami of Ohio Redhawks Volleyball Team. The RedHawks earned its third straight MAC regular season Championship and finished MAC Tournament Runner-Up after falling to Eastern Michigan in the Championship. The Redhawks earned their first post season victory over Northern Kentucky and were knocked out of the National Volleyball Invitational Tournament by Valparaiso. Margaret was named MAC Player of the Week for her performance in September. Payne finished with 16 blocks in six sets, an incredible 2.67 blocks per set average for the week. After recording five blocks in the win over Akron, Payne followed that up with a career-high 11 blocks (one solo and 10 assisted) against Buffalo. She contributed offensively in the win over Buffalo as well with 13 kills and a .429 attack percentage. For the week, Payne scored 24.5 points (including 19.5 in just three sets versus the Bulls), an average of 4.08 points per set. Margaret leads the team with 212 kills and 95 blocks. Margaret was selected to the Pre-season All-Mac East Division Team as the Redhawks top returning offensive player and led her team in total points (396.5), Kills (321) and blocks (132) to earn First Team All-MAC honors and Academic All-MAC Last season, the Redhawks fell to Baylor in the first round of the NCAA National Championships. Margaret appeared in all 32 matches making 27 starts and was 3rd with kills (289), led the team in attack percentage, and finished 1st in total blocks (79). Margaret earned Academic All-MIAC and recorded a career high 20 kills to lead her team to victory over Northern Arizona in the Miami Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational. As a freshman, Payne had 25 kills and 12 blocks. Margaret was an All-State, All-County, All-Region and All-Catholic League captain for the Cranes Volleyball Team.
WINTER SEASON Alexis Deitz CK’17 finished her sophomore season playing basketball for the Hornets of Kalamazoo College. Lex scored 1.9 points per game and shot 75% from the free throw line. Last season, Alexis averaged 1.4 points per game shooting 23.7 % from the field and 13.6% from the three-point line. Alexis was an Honorable Mention All-County, All-District and All-Catholic League captain for the Cranes Basketball Team that scored over 1,000 points in her CK career and was a varsity letter winner in Track and Field. Keiko DeClerck CK’15 completed her senior season playing hockey for the 6th ranked Princeton Tigers. Keiko was elected Assistant Captain and scored 1 goal and with 2 assists this season and the Tigers claimed their 8th Ivy League Championship defeating Brown 8-2 in the championship. In the ECAC Quarterfinals, The Tigers defeated St Lawrence and lost to Cornell in the Semifinal. The Tigers earned an At-Large bid to the NCAA Tournament but fell to the Minnesota Gophers in the NCAA Quarterfinals. As a junior, Keiko scored 8 goals (1 game winner), had 4 assists and blocked 16 shots for the Tigers. Princeton finished 14-14-4 and lost in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Championships. Keiko played in all 33 games as a sophomore and scored 2 goals, had 1 assist, and blocked 19 shots for the season. The Tigers fell to Clarkson in the ECAC Semifinals this season. In her freshman season, the Tigers recorded the most wins in Princeton history and lost in overtime in the ECAC quarterfinals. Keiko scored 4 goals and had 5 assists. Keiko was a former CK Girls Hockey captain that helped lead the Cranes Girls Hockey Team to a State Championship in 2013. DeClerck was also an All-State member of the CK Field Hockey Team and Honorable Mention All-State standout on the CK Soccer Team. Lucy Dembeck CK’15 completed her senior year and was elected captain of the hockey team for the Mules of Colby College. The Mules had their best season in women’s hockey but were knocked out of the NESCAC Championships by Hamilton. Lucy scored 4 goals this season and was selected on the NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team. The Mules fell to Hamilton College in the NESCAC Quarterfinal.
Last season, Lucy scored her first college goal against Post University and made the NESCAC All-Academic Team. The 8-13-4 Mules lost in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC playoffs. Lucy played in all 20 games as a sophomore and was named to the NESCAC All-Academic Team! Lucy played in 18 games as a freshman. Lucy was an Honorable Mention All-State CK Hockey player and an Academic All-State member of the CK lacrosse Team. Angie Wiater CK’18 completed her freshman season playing hockey for the Mammoths of Amherst College. Angie scored her first college career goal against Connecticut College this November. This season Angie scored 2 goals and had 2 assists this season. The Mammoths defeated Trinity in the NESCAC quarterfinals and fell to top seed Williams in the Semifinal. Angie was a member of the National Champion 16 U AAA Team in 2017 and an All-American, Academic All-American, Academic All-State, 2nd Team All-State, All-Catholic League and Academic All-Catholic League member of the two-time State Champion CK Girls Lacrosse Team. Olive Stevens CK’18 completed her freshman season playing defense for the Adrian Bulldogs, who capped their season off with a National Championship bid. Olive was a two-time 1st Team All-State and All- Catholic League, captain of the Cranes State Runner-Up Hockey Team and received Honorable Mention All-State and All-League awards her junior and senior years on the two-time State Champion Lacrosse Team. Chad Langlais CK’05 (Michigan) played defenseman for the professional hockey team Rouen in France and scored 7 goals with 33 assists on the season. Langlais also skated for the Les Rapaces de Gap also in France, the Sheffield Steelers in England, Belfast Giants, Trenton Titans, Arizona Sundogs, Evansville Icemen and Dayton Gems during his professional career. While playing for the Michigan Wolverines, Chad scored 13 goals and had 68 assists. He holds the school record for 173 consecutive
games played; helped Michigan reach the NCAA Frozen Four title game and was an All-CCHA performer. Chad was an All-State member of the CK Boys Hockey Finalist Team of 2005. Casey Wellman ’06 (University of Massachusetts Amherst), skated for the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in Switzerland and had 17 goals and 9 assists this season. Last season, Casey skated for the SOCHI Canadian Hockey team and scored 10 goals with 21 assists. In 2016-17, Casey skated for the Frolunda HC in Sweden and had 14 goals and 19 assists. Casey has played for the Moscow Spartak of the KHL, Hershey Bears, Washington Capitals, San Antonio Rampage, Houston Aeros, and Minnesota Wild since his college graduation. Wellman was Minutemen Hockey East All-Academic and UMass Rookie of the Year. In 73 games, Casey recorded 34 goals and 44 assists. Casey was Captain and an All-State member of the 2006 State Champion Hockey Team. Andrew Miller CK‘07 (Yale) skated for the HC Fribourg- Gotteron of Switzerland and had 11 goals and 16 assists. Last season, Andrew skated for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL Carolina Hurricanes and scored 15 goals and with 37 assists this season. Miller agreed to terms to play for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2017-18 after ranking 3rd in points and 2nd in assists for the Charlotte Checkers despite missing 21 games due to injury in 2016-17. Miller scored 11 goals and 30 assists last season. Andrew scored his first NHL goal for the Edmonton Oilers and became only the sixth NHL player to score his first goal on a penalty shot. Miller scored 42 goals and had 114 assists in his career as captain of the Yale Hockey Team. Andrew led the Yale Bulldogs to the National Championship in 2013; earned the NCAA Tournament MVP; and was an AHCA All-American and an All-ECAC performer. Andrew was Captain and an All-State State member of the CK 2007 State Champion Hockey Team and an All-American/All-State Cranes lacrosse player. Miller owned the record for combined goals and assists in Cranbrook lacrosse history and was a member of the 2006 State Championship Team. Jake Chelios CK’08 (Michigan State) skated for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL and had 1 goal with 13 assists as a defenseman. Jake was brought up to
the Redwings for the Stanley Cup Playoffs and contributed to the Redwing win over the Devils. Last season, Jake skated for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL and scored 4 goals with 10 assists this season. Chelios had 4 goals and 28 assists in 2016-17. Chelios has also skated for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL and the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. Jake played for the Spartans of Michigan State where he scored 17 goals and had 37 assists leading all Spartan defensemen in scoring during his senior year and was Honorable Mention All-Big Ten. Chelios was also a CCHA Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Patrick Brown CK’10 (Boston College) skated in the NHL playing for the Charlotte Checkers and scored 19 goals with 16 assists this season. Patrick was brought up to the Carolina Hurricanes for the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs where he helped the team defeat the Washington Capitals in a game 7 thriller then added ice time to help defeat the New York Islanders and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals where they were eliminated by the Boston Bruins. Last season, Patrick was chosen Captain for a second season and scored 7 goals and had 20 assists for the Checkers. Patrick scored his first NHL goal and added an important assist in the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 win against the New York Rangers in 2015. Brown served Boston College as team captain that scored 15 goals with 15 assists his senior year and became the first player in Hockey East to score 2 short-handed goals in regular season play. Patrick scored 21 goals and had 22 assists in his collegiate career and was a three-time Hockey East All-Academic athlete. Patrick was a Dream Team, All-State, All MIHL and All County captain of the Cranes 2010 State Championship Team and was a varsity letter winner on the CK Lacrosse Team. Cameron Heath CK’12 completed his senior hockey season for the Golden Griffins of Canisius College in the Atlantic Conference. Cam scored 4 goals and had 19 assists this season. Cam was selected as Defensive Player of the Week in November. Heath’s career 25 goals were the 3rd most by a defenseman in school history. His 53 assists were the 2nd most for the Griffs in 21 seasons. After the season, Cam signed a contract to play professionally for the South Carolina Sting Rays. Cam scored 7 goals with 14 assists last season. Heath was named Defensive Player of the Week in the Atlantic hockey Conference in the victory over American International earlier in the
season and was awarded Top Defenseman honors for the 2nd straight year. Heath earned 1st Team All-Atlantic Conference honors. The Griffins were knocked out of the Atlantic Hockey Conf. championships in the semifinals by Air Force. Can earned AHCA All-American Scholar Awards in 2017 and 2018. In his sophomore season, Cam scored 7 goals and had 11 assists, and was honored as the AHC Defenseman of the Year for the second straight year and earned 2nd Team All-AHC with 46 blocked shots on the League leading defense. Cam was also recognized on the Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team. Cam was noted as being a key piece to the defense that led the League in scoring defense, goals allowed and penalty kill percentage. Cam was 12th in the NCAA Division 1 in defensemen with game winning goals and in power play goals scored. Heath helped the Griffs win its first Atlantic Conference Championship. Canisius posted the second longest unbeaten streak this season with 17 consecutive wins. As a freshman, Heath led all defensemen with 16 points, scored 7 goals and had 9 assists ranking him third in Atlantic Hockey among defensemen. Cam netted his first freshman goal against Ohio State. Cam earned Top Defenseman honors, becoming the 4th Griffin rookie in school history to earn the accolade and was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team. Since graduation, Cam skated for the New Jersey Hit Men of the USPHL and the Islanders of the PAL, was the League’s second leading scorer in 2014 and third leading scorer in 2015 and made the All-Star Team for both Leagues. Heath was an All-State and All-Catholic captain of the 2012 Cranes Hockey Team. Ethan Weiss CK’12 completed his senior year at forward for the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology and had 1 goal with 15 assists this season. The Leopards were knocked out of the CCC Tournament by the University of New England. Last season, Ethan scored 3 goals with 8 assists. The 9-14-3 Leopards fell to University of New England in the Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinal championships. In his sophomore season, Ethan scored 4 goals and had 2 assists. As a freshman, Weiss had 4 assists for the Leopards. Ethan played for the Brockville Braves (CCHL) in Brockville Ontario for the past two years and received the Mike "Dogger" Daoust Award which is awarded to the player that most exemplifies commitment and dedication to the team and to the sport. Ethan was captain and an Honorable Mention All-State member of the Cranes Hockey Team.
Michael Romund CK’13 finished his senior year skating for the Raiders of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and had 9 goals and 7 assists this season. The Raiders fell to Adrian in the NCHA Tournament. Last season, Michael scored 2 goals with 2 assists for the 11-14-2 Raiders who were knocked out of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup quarterfinals by top ranked Adrian. In his sophomore season, Michael scored 5 goals and had 5 assists and the Raiders finished 12-8-5. Michael scored 5 goals (2 game winning) with 4 assists as a freshman. After graduation, Romund skated for the Junior Islanders of the USPHL Premier in 2013-14 and scored 11 goals and 9 assists in 53 games with the Junior Islanders. Michael then skated for the Waterloo Siskins of the GOJHL where he scored 10 goals and 16 points in 34 games. Michael was an All-State member of the 2013 State Champion Boys Hockey and letter winner on the State Championship Boys Lacrosse Team. Kevin Shand CK’13 finished his junior season skating with former CK teammate Mike Romund for the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders. Kevin scored 2 goals with 2 assists this season. As a freshman, Kevin scored 2 goals and had 5 assists. Kevin skated for the Metro Jets of the North American 3 Hockey League and scored 41 goals and was third in the NA3HL in scoring. Kevin has also played for the Springfield Jr. Blues, the Brookings Blizzard and the Coulee Regions Chill. Shand was an All-County member of the CK 2013-14 State Championship and a varsity letterman on the Cranes Football Team. Zach Feldman CK’13 finished his junior season playing hockey for the Foresters of Lake Forest College and had 4 goals with 8 assists on the season. Zach earned Academic All-NCHA for the second straight year. The Foresters lost in the semifinals of the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs. Zach was selected to be a member of the 20th Annual Maccabiah Games representing the United States in the sport of hockey this past summer. The Maccabiah is the largest and longest running Jewish sports organization spanning over five continents, more than 60 countries, 450 clubs, and 400,000 members. MWU is a Zionist organization that utilizes sports as a means to bring Jewish people of all ages closer
to Judaism and Israel in addition to various informal educational activities in a manner that surpasses politics and sectarianism. Team USA lost to Team Canada 7-2 in the Finals. Last season, Zach scored 2 goals with 3 assists and earned Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic. The 15-11-2 Foresters fell to top ranked Adrian in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup semifinals. As a freshman, Zach scored his first college goal against 15th ranked UW Eau Claire and scored 5 goals and had 8 assists on the season. Zach was recognized at the School’s “A Team” dinner honoring the Lake Forest athletes who received straight A’s. The Foresters tied the program record for Conference victories. Feldman was an All-State, All-MIHL and All-County member of the Cranes 2013-14 State Championship Team. Christopher Brown CK’14 completed his senior year as a 2-year captain for the Boston College Eagles Hockey Team and had 7 goals and 9 assists on the season. The Eagles lost to Northeastern in the Hockey East Championship. Christopher signed with the Pittsburgh affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins after the season. Last season, Brown scored 9 goals and 10 assists as the Eagles claimed their 16th Hockey East Conference Championship but were knocked out of the Hockey East semifinals by Boston U. As a sophomore, Brown scored 9 goals and had 17 assists to be the Eagles leading scorer. The Eagles finished 21-15-4. Christopher scored 2 goals and had 9 assists as a freshman for the Hockey East League Co-Champions to help his team advance to the Frozen Four of the National Championship tournament. Brown played junior hockey for the Green Bay Gamblers for one season after graduation and was the leading scorer on the Gamblers’ roster with 13 goals and 19 assists in 43 games. Brown was a captain and All-State performer on the CK Boys Hockey Team and Boys Lacrosse Team and was drafted in the NHL by the Buffalo Sabres after his senior year while playing hockey for the Cranes. Noah Gilreath CK’14 finished his junior season as a defenseman for the Mammoths of Amherst College. Noah scored 3 goal with 6
assists this season. Them Mammoths advanced to the NESCAC Championship after defeating Amherst, Colby and Weslyan but lost to Trinity in the Final. Last season, Noah scored 2 goals with 3 assists. The 11-9-5 Mammoths fell to Colby College in the NESCAC Semifinals. Noah was chosen as the Amherst Athlete of the Month in January for his work on and off the ice. Gilreath has been serving his community as a companion at Camp Quality for Children with Cancer and a counselor at Special Days Camp for Kids with Cancer. He worked on a food truck for the homeless and in soup kitchens on a New York City Mission Trip with the New York School for Urban Ministry. As a sophomore, Noah had 2 goals and 9 assists. The 5th ranked Amherst advanced to the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Championships. Noah played defenseman for the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the NAHL prior to college where he scored 2 goals and had 20 assists. Noah played for the Point Mallard Ducks after graduation. Gilreath was captain and All-MIHL for the Cranes Hockey Team. Cooper Stahl CK’15 finished his junior season skating for the Jumbos of Tufts University. Cooper had 2 assists this season. Last season, Cooper scored 1 goal with 3 assists. The 5-16-4 Jumbos advanced to the NESCAC Quarterfinals but fell to top seed Trinity. As a freshman, Cooper scored 2 goals and had 6 assists for the Jumbos. The Jumbos lost in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Championships. Stahl played juniors for the Stratford Cullitons of the GOJHL before signing with Tufts. Cooper was an All-Catholic, All-MIHL, All-County and All-State captain for the 2015 CK State Championship Boys Hockey Team. Austin Alger CK’15 transferred to Canisius College to play with Cranbrook alumnus Cameron Heath. Austin scored 12 goals with 16 assists this season and is second on the team in scoring and points. Austin played his freshman season skating with his brother Alex for the Miami of Ohio Redhawks. Austin scored 2 goals and had 2 assists. Prior to college, Austin skated with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL. Alger was traded to the Lumberjacks mid-season and had 4 goals with 15 assists. Prior to the trade, Austin had 12
goals and 12 assists with the Lancers and was named the USHL Forward of the Week in December. Austin had 11 goals and 12 assists for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL in his inaugural season. Austin has committed to joining his brother to play for Miami of Ohio next season. As captain of the 2015 Cranbrook hockey Team, Austin led the Cranes to the State Championship earning him All-State and the coveted Michigan Mr. Hockey trophy. CJ Regula CK’16 skated for the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL after being traded from the Minnesota Wilderness and the Muskegon Lumberjacks. CJ had 1 assist for the Lumberjacks, 4 goals and 5 assists with the Wilderness and had 6 goals with 23 assists with the Mudbugs. CJ will be attending Ohio State University next year. CJ had 3 goals and 8 assists for the Rays and 6 goals and 4 assists for the Wilderness last season. Regula skated for the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the NAHL in 2016-17 and scored 7 goals and had 13 assists. CJ was a member of the 2015 CK Boys Hockey State Championship Team Stephen Friedland CK’16 played goalie for the Evansville Jr Thunderbolts East Coast of the NA3HL after being traded from the East Coast Wizards last season and had an 86% save average. Friedland had 33 saves and 5 goals against for the Wizards in 2017- 18. Alex Lycett CK’17 skated for the Waterloo Siskens of the GOJHL and has scored 33 goals with 23 assists on the season and another 15 goals with 11 assists during the playoffs. Last season, Alex scored 26 goals with 23 assists on the season. Alex was a 1st Team All-State, All-County, All-MIHL and All-Catholic captain and a member of the Cranes 2015 State Championship Team. Justin Song CK’18 skated for the Metro Jets of the NAHL. Justin scored 7 goals and had 18 assists on the season and was called up to the Boston Jr. Bruins during the season with his strong performance!
Song was a two-time 2nd Team All-State and All-MIHL member of the Cranes Hockey Team. Mac Brice CK’18 skated for the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL after being traded from Team Maryland where Mac scored 14 goals with 20 assists. Mac was a 2nd Team All-State and Honorable Mention All- MIHL North member of the Cranes Hockey Team and captain for the CK Lacrosse Team. Evan Daldin CK’18 completed his freshman season skating for the Concordia Cardinals. Evan sustained a fractured collar bone requiring surgery. Anuschka Sambel CK’16 completed her junior season swimming for the 24th ranked Connecticut College Camels. The Camels finished 5th at the NESCAC Championships. Anushka placed 12th in the 400 IM, 15th as a member of the 800 free relay team, 17th in the 400-medley relay, 21st in the 200 IM, and 27th in the 200-breast stroke. Last season, Sambel placed 17th in the 400 IM and 21st in the 200IM at the NESCAC Championships. Sambel also swam the 500 and 1000 freestyle, the 100 butterfly and the 400 medley events this season. The Camels finished 3rd overall at the NESCAC Championships. The Camels finish 3rd in the NESCAC Championships and set a school record by finishing 10th at the National Championships in Anuschka’s freshman season. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced that the women's swim team from Connecticut College had the 2nd highest grade point average (3.78) among Division III swim teams in the Nation. Anuschka was an All-State Captain of the CK Aardvarks Swim and Dive Team. Julia Feord CK’17 finished her sophomore season diving for the Bears of Brown University. Julia placed 14th in the 3-meter dive and 18th in the 1-meter dive for the Bears who finished 4th overall at the Ivy League Championships. Last season, Feord placed 5th in her first two competitions against Yale and MIT. The Bears placed 6th in the Ivy League Championships, were ranked 7th in the nation for best GPA, and
named to the Scholar All-American Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association. Julia was a three-time All-State, Academic All-State, two-time Regional Champion, All-Catholic and Academic All-Catholic diver for the Aardvarks. Mitch Buccalo CK’15 completed his senior season swimming for the Bucknell Bison. At the Patriot League Championships, the Bison placed third. Mitch placed 18th in the 200 IM, 24th in the 400 IM. At the ECAC Championships, the Bison placed 4th. Last season, Buccalo placed 14th in the 200- back stroke, 3th in the 100 butterfly and 43rd in the 100-back stroke at the ECAC Championships. The Bison finished 9th at the ECAC Championships. Mitch placed 10th in the 200-fly, 13th in the 400IM at the Patriot League Championships and the Team finished 10th overall at the ECAC Championships as a sophomore. Mitch earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll accolades. As a freshman, Mitch competed in the backstroke, butterfly and IM events for the Bison and scored 26 points in the Patriot League Championships where he finished 6th in the 200 fly and 400 IM. Mitch owns the program’s third-best time in the 200-fly. Mitch is a former All-State, All-American, State record holder (200 IM, 400 free-relay, 200 medley relay) and captain for the Cranes Swim and Dive Team. Mitch helped lead the CK Swim and Dive Team to back to back State Championships in 2014 and 2015 and was the 2015 MHSAA Division 3 Swimmer of the Year. Andrew Trunsky CK’16 completed his junior season swimming for the Ephs of Williams College. At the NESCAC Championships, Andrew was NESCAC Champion in the 1000 freestyle and Runner-Up in the 1650 free, placed 3rd in the 500 free, and 12th anchoring the 800 free-relay. The Ephs won their 17th straight NESCAC Championship and finished 7th at the NCAA Championships. Andrew was chosen to be Ephs Swim and Dive Team Captain for next year! Last season, Andrew won the NESCAC Championship in the 1000 free, anchored his 800 free relay team and placed 1st, placed 3rd in the 500 free and 4th in the 1650 freestyle earning All-NESCAC honors while the Ephs were NESCAC Runner-Up.
Andrew was nominated as Hero of the Week for Division 3 in January for his victories in the 500 and 1000 against rival Amherst and is considered one of the best long- distance swimmers in the country. At the Division III NCAA National Championships, Andrew placed 7th in the 1650 free earning All- American honors. Trunsky also placed 16th in the 500 free and 40th in the 200 freestyle. The Ephs finished 10th overall! As a freshman, Andrew won the 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle events at the NESCAC Championships and was selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year earning All-NESCAC Conference honors (only the 2nd Eph to earn such accolades)! The Ephs won their 15th straight NESCAC Championship. At the NCAA National Championships, Andrew earned a 5th place finish in the 1650-yd freestyle, touching to the time of 15:31.22! As the anchor of the 800-yd freestyle relay team, Andrew helped his team finish 8th with an overall time of 6:40.19 and earned All-American honors. The Ephs finished 7th as a Team at Nationals. Andrew was a State Champion, All-State, captain and member of Cranbrook’s 2014, ‘15 and ‘16 State Championship Teams. Matthew Yang CK’17 finished his sophomore season swimming for the Bears of Washington University. The Bears finished 2nd in the AUU Championships where Matthew placed 4th in the 100-breast stroke, 9th in the 400 free and 200 medley relays, 17th in the 200- breast stroke, and 41st in the 200 IM. Matthew also earned Academic All-AUU honors. At the Midwest Invitational, Matthew placed 2nd in the 100-breast stroke. Last season, Yang made an impact in the early season as a member of the Bear’s strong 200 medley relay team and scored meet points in the 100 butterfly, 100 & 200 breaststroke and 200 IM events. At the UAA Championships, Matthew finished 8th in the 100-breast stroke, 12th as a member of the 200-medley relay team, 16th in the 200 breaststroke and 31st in the 200 IM. The bears finished 9th at the NCAA National Championships. Matthew was 9-time All-State finalist, State runner-up in the 100-breast stroke and 200 medley relay and was a leader of Cranbrook’s four State Championship Teams of 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Kevin Hao CK’18 is a teammate of Matt Yang as a swimmer for the 9th ranked Bears of Washington U. Kevin earned UAA Conference Swimmer of the Week in February and earned All-AUU honors placing 3rd in the 200 IM, 4th in the 200-breast stroke, and 10th in the 400 IM at the AUU Championships. At the Midwest Invitational, Kevin won the 200-breast stroke and placed 3rd in the 100-breast stroke. Kevin was an All-State captain for the Cranes Swim and Dive Team. Kevin State Runner-Up in the 200 IM, 200 medley relay and the 400 free-relay, and was Catholic League Champion in the 100 butterfly. SPRING SEASON Grant Reuss CK’14 is still recovering from the Tommy Johns surgery that kept him out last season. Grant is still listed on the pitching staff in the Gulf Coast League for the Detroit Tigers West organization. Grant was drafted in the 29th round, 875 over all, by the Detroit Tigers as a pitcher from the University of Michigan. In his sophomore season, Grant appeared 8 times for the Wolverines bullpen and posted a team low .050 batting average against. Grant tossed a season high 1.2 innings against Indiana, surrendering one unearned run while striking out two batters. He also struck out a career high three batters at Loyola Marymount. Grant earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. As a redshirt freshman, Grant pitched in relief and had four appearances. He made his first career relief appearance against Hawaii, allowing no hits and striking out one. Reuss was an All-District and All-League captain of the CK Baseball Team. Jordyn Finney CK’16 completed his junior season as a catcher for the Brittons of Albion College. This season, Jordyn batted 256, has 13 RBIs, 2nd on the team in stolen bases and threw out 70% of runners in conference play earning him 2nd Team All-MIAA. The Brittons earned their first berth in the NCAA playoffs in 8 years. Last season, Jordyn threw out 40% of the runners and had a .243 batting average with 1 homerun and 8 RBIs.
As a freshman, Jordyn earned 2nd Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Association finishing the season with 40 RBIs (tying for 3rd on Albion’s single season list) and had a .455 batting average and 46 hits (3rd on the team). He started his collegiate career with a 12-game hitting streak and was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s Position Player of the Week after hitting a team best .444, catching 7 runners trying to steal, and driving in 3 runs in victories over Wittenberg University and Penn-State Abington. Jordyn was an Honorable Mention All-State and All-District captain of the CK Baseball Team. Jordyn was also an Honorable Mention All-State and All-County captain of the Cranbrook Basketball Team. Sydney Shuert CK’14 completed her senior season rowing for the 16th ranked Hoosiers of Indiana University. Sydney rowed on the 2nd Varsity 4 team. In the Big Ten Championships, the Hoosiers finished 3rd. Last season, the Hoosiers were one of 22 teams at the NCAA Rowing Championships for the 5th straight season. The 2018 NCAA Rowing Championship took place at in Sarasota, Florida hosted by the University of Central Florida. In 2016-17, the Hoosiers were one of 13 programs in the country that qualified for each of the last four NCAA Championships. The Hoosiers were one of five Big Ten teams to make the NCAA field, tying for the most in conference history. IU joined Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin. Indiana was seeded No. 14 in the First Varsity Eight race, No. 14 in the Second Varsity Eight race and No. 11 in the Varsity Four races. Sydney rowed in the N8 category in her redshirt junior season where she finished 1st in the dual versus Rutgers, 2nd in the Dale England Cup and dual meets versus Ohio State, Louisville and Kansas, 3rd versus Michigan State and the Clemson Invitational, and 5th at the Big Ten Championships. Shuert was an All-Region and All-Division member of the CK Ski Team. Elizabeth Fairman CK’17 completed her sophomore season rowing for the Number 1 Nationally Ranked Bobcats of Bates College. This season, Elizabeth rowed on the 3rd varsity 8 team. The Bobcats won the 2019 New England Rowing Championship and the 3rd Varsity 8 Team won a thriller over Williams then went on to win their third straight NESCAC Championship. Elizabeth and the 3rd Varsity 8 brought home a silver medal. The win gave the Bobcats an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships where they went on to win their 3rd consecutive National Championship! Elizabeth earned NESCAC All-Academic honors. Last season, Elizabeth rowed on the womens novice V8 that went on to win the NESCAC Championship and help Bates complete a NESCAC
Championship sweep. At the National Championships hosted in Sarasota Florida, the Bobcats brought home their second straight NCAA National Championship and their third NCAA National Championship in four years! Elizabeth was an Academic All-State captain for the CK Girls Swim and Dive Team and an individual State Championships qualifier in the 200 freestyle. Lauren Baker CK’18 completed her freshman season rowing for the Diplomats of the Franklin & Marshall Rowing Team. Lauren was Coxswain of the Womens Varsity 4 that finished 8th at the Mid- Atlantic Conference Championships. The Diplomats placed 5th overall. Lauren was two-time captain of the Cranes Rowing Team. Will Van Houten CK’18 completed his freshman season rowing for the Lakers of Grand Valley State. The Lakers placed 2nd overall at the MACRA Championships. As a captain of the Cranes Rowing Team, Will was Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association and Scholastic Rowing Association Champion in Varsity Singles and finished 6th at Nationals. As a junior, Will won Cranbrook’s first State Championship and placed 4th at Nationals in Men’s Doubles. Ariana Vespa CK’15 completed her senior season playing mid- fielder for the 8th ranked Michigan Wolverines. The Wolverines have had a record-breaking season with a 15-4 record (and an undefeated home schedule) and earned their first NCAA Tournament bid. The Wolverines secured their first ever NCAA Tournament win defeating Jacksonville 13-9 then lost to Denver 9- 5. Last season, Ari was hampered with a hamstring injury through most of the season and redshirted. Ari earned Academic All-Big Ten, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and U-M Athletic Achievement Award honors in her sophomore season for the second season in a row.
Ariana is the first ever true walk on to earn a spot on the team. Vespa made her college debut as a freshman and earned her first career start against Massachusetts in March. Ari earned Academic All-Big Ten, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and U-M Athletic Achievement Award honors. Ariana was an Academic All-American and All-State captain that helped lead the Cranes to their first State Championship Game in 2015 and was a four-year letter winner on CK’s Ice Hockey Team. Jaden Bertuzzi CK’17 completed her redshirt freshman season playing lacrosse for the Bulldogs of Butler University. Unfortunately, Jaden sustained a knee injury requiring surgery. Jaden was a captain for the Cranes 2017 State Championship Girls Lacrosse Team and an All-State captain of the CK Girls Hockey Team. Isabelle Scane CK’18 completed her freshman season playing lacrosse for the Wildcats of Northwestern University. Izzy scored Northwestern's first goal of the 2019 season in 12 seconds, which is the fastest first goal of the season in program history. Scane went on to record a second goal, scooped up three ground balls, secured four draw controls and a caused a game-high four turnovers versus Louisville. Izzy earned 7 consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors (the most of any freshman since the award was created) for outstanding performances against Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Maryland, Johns Hopkins, Penn, Penn State, Marquette, and Rutgers. Izzy scored 62 goals (2nd in the Big Ten) with 18 assists and has 59 draw controls on the season and earned 2nd Team All-American, All-West/Midwest Region and All-Big Ten honors, was voted unanimously as Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team! The Wildcats defeated Michigan to advance to the Big Ten Championship against #1 ranked Maryland then defeated the Terrapins 16-11 to win the Big Ten Championship. In the NCAA Championships, the Wildcats defeated Notre Dame13-9 (Izzy scored 4 goals), advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals and defeated Syracuse 18-14 to earn a spot in the Final Four and a rematch of the Big Ten Championship with top ranked Maryland who ended the Wildcats season with a 25-13 win.
Isabelle was also selected to the U.S. U-19 Spring Premier at Stanford University this January. The Spring Premiere featured six teams: the U.S. senior and U19 teams, along with teams from England, Japan, Fresno State and Stanford. The age-eligible players on this squad range from juniors in high school to sophomores in college and the mix of experience blended well as the U19 team beat England 18-8. The team opened the Premiere with an 18-1 victory over Japan's developmental team in an exhibition game. Isabelle was a varsity letter winner in the sports of Lacrosse and Field Hockey where she served as a captain of both teams. In the sport of Lacrosse, Isabelle was the most prolific scorer of goals and points in MHSAA history. Isabelle earned three-time All-American, Academic All- American, four-time 1st Team All-State, Academic All-State, and four-time All-Catholic League honors in the sport of lacrosse. Isabelle was selected to the Under Armour All-American Team to compete in the 13th Annual Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Games and was honored as the Detroit Free Press Female Lacrosse Player of the Year. In Field Hockey, Isabelle earned Academic All-State, 2nd Team All-State, and was two-time All- Catholic League. Isabelle was a finalist for the Catholic League Female Athlete of the Year and a Finalist for the Detroit Athletic Club Female Athlete of the Year Award. Scane was a member of Cranbrook’s first and second MHSAA State Championship Teams in 2017 and 2018, and Cranbrook’s first Finalists in 2015 and 2016. Sophia Milia CK’18 completed her freshman season playing lacrosse for the #1 ranked NAIA Bees of the Savannah College of Art and Design. Sophia scored her first college goals in their win against Erskine College and scored 16 goals with 10 assists the season. The Bees were looking to three- peat as the NAIA National Invitational Champions and defeated Lawrence Tech 22-10 in the quarterfinals then Keiser 17-8 in the semi. The Bees went on to defeat Benedictine College 18-12 to win the NAIA National Championship!!!! Sophia was a two-time 2nd Team All-State, All- Catholic League and All-League member of the Cranes 2017 and 2018 State Championship Teams. Sophia was also a varsity letter winner on the CK Volleyball Team.
Olive Stevens CK’18 completed her freshman season for the Bulldogs of Adrian lacrosse Team. Olive led the Bulldogs in their home-opener win over Lourdes with 4 goals and 4 draw controls, and dominated in the comeback win over Cleary, leading the team in goals and caused turnovers. Stevens finished the season scoring 28 goals with 5 assists and 45 draw controls and was named the 2019 Rookie of the Year. Olive was 3-year varsity member and two-time Honorable Mention All-State and All-League member of the State Champion CK Lacrosse Team, and a two- time 1st Team All-State and All-Catholic League captain of the Cranes State Runner-Up Ice Hockey Team. Angie Wiater CK’18 played in her freshman season on the 11th Ranked Mammoths Lacrosse Team after her hockey season was completed. Amherst defeated Bowdoin in the NESCAC quarterfinals and fell to top ranked Middlebury in the NESCAC semifinal. Angie was an All-American, Academic All-American, Academic All- State, 2nd Team All-State, All-Catholic League and Academic All- Catholic League member of the CK Girls Lacrosse Team. Angie played for 3 State Championships for Cranbrook, (winning two in 2017 and 2018). Angie was also a member of the National Champion 16 U AAA Hockey Team in 2017. Johnny Wagner CK’15 completed his senior season as Captain playing attack man and midfielder for the Marquette Golden Eagles Men’s Lacrosse Team. Johnny was a pre-season All-Big East Team candidate that scored 21 goals with 18 assists this season. Johnny was recognized on the All Big East Honor Roll for his play against Duke. Wagner sits 3rd in Marquette history in both goals (76) and points (106). Johnny became the 2nd player in Marquette history to score over 100 points and earned All-Big East honors. Last season, Johnny was named captain for the Golden Eagles and earned Big East Player of the Week honors after his hat trick and last second game winning goal against Jacksonville. Wagner earned 1st Team All-Big East by leading the team in goals (30) and points (36). Wagner scored overtime goals this season against Ohio State, Georgetown, St Johns, Providence and Jacksonville. Marquette fell to top seed Denver in the Big East Championship Game where Johnny posted 4 goals and an assist in the game and was named to the All-Big East Championship Team. Johnny also earned the Big East Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award and was Big East All-Academic.
Wagner recorded 22 goals and had 3 assists as a sophomore and was the teams’ second leading scorer and earned Big East All- Academic honors. The Golden Eagles stunned 2nd seed Denver then beat Providence to repeat as Big East Champions earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament but ran into #4 seed Notre Dame in the first round who knocked the Golden Eagles out of the tournament. Wagner paced the team with his second career hat trick and became just the 8th player in program history to score 20 goals in a single season. Wagner scored two goals with four assists on the season. The 19th ranked Golden Eagles played for their first ever Big East Conference Championship but lost to #1 ranked Denver. Johnny earned Big East All-Academic honors as a freshman. In March of 2016, Wagner was selected to the 24 player Team Canada roster for the FIL U19 Men’s Lacrosse World Championships. He was the second Marquette player to represent Canada in the World Championships. Wagner was a captain and All-American that led the 2015 CK Lacrosse Team to the State Championship and was selected as the State Champs Lacrosse Player of the Year. Wagner was also Academic All-State and All-County member of the 2016 CK State Champion Hockey Team. Charlie Pistner CK’15 was chosen Captain in his senior season playing attack man on the Defending National Championship Michigan State Spartan Lacrosse Team. Charlie scored 23 goals with 16 assists on the season. Charlie earned 3rd Team All-Continental Lacrosse Conference honors. The Spartans lost in the first round of the Championship series to Liberty. As a junior, Charlie scored 42 goals and had 19 assists on the season (for a career total of 110 goals and 48 assists) earning him 2nd Team All-Conference honors. The Spartans captured their 7th consecutive Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Championship to advance to the DI MCLA National Championships hosted in Salt Lake City Utah as the # 3 seed (highest in school history). The Spartans advanced to the Elite 8 by knocking off the Oregon Ducks 16-8, to the Final 4 by defeating Virginia Tech 9-3, and to the semifinals by defeating BYU 12-7. The Spartans faced #1 ranked Chapman Panthers for the National Championship and Charlie scored 4 goals to help Michigan State win their 1st MCLA National Championship as they beat the Panthers 10-8! Charlie’s performance earned him 1st Team All-Tournament honors.
As a sophomore, Charlie scored 37 goals and had 22 assists to finish 3rd in scoring on the season for the Spartans earning Charlie 2nd Team All-Conference honors. The Spartans captured the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Title defeating Pittsburg to advance to the MCLA National Championships where the Spartans lost to #1 seed BYU in the first round. As a freshman, Pistner led the Spartans in scoring with 31 goals and 7 assists and earned 2nd Team All-CCLA honors. Charlie helped the Spartans win their fifth straight CCLA Championship to advance to the national tournament. Charlie was an All-State performer that helped lead the CK Boys Lacrosse Team to the State Championship in 2015. Charlie also was a starter and Academic All-Catholic League on the Cranes Basketball Team. Michael Langdon CK’15 completed his senior season playing lacrosse for the 6th ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Langdon played defenseman for the defending ACC Champions. The Irish defeated Duke in the ACC semifinal then fell to Virginia in the ACC Championship. The Irish were 8th seed in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Johns Hopkins 16-9 in the first round and fell to Duke 14-13 in the quarterfinals. Michael was an All-State captain of the Cranes 2015 State Championship Lacrosse Team and was an All-District defenseman on the 2015 CK State Runner-Up Soccer Team. Davis Schiller CK’18 completed his freshman season playing lacrosse for the Falcons of the Air Force Academy. The Falcons claimed a share of the Southern Conference regular season title and in the Conference Championships, lost to Richmond 7-6. Davis was a two-time captain, All American, All-State, and All-Catholic League member of the CK Lacrosse Team. Davis was also a varsity letter winner on the Cranbrook Ice Hockey Team. Nate Moll CK’18 completed his freshman season playing squash for the Middlebury College Panthers. The Panthers finished 3rd in the NESCAC Championships and Nate finished the season with a strong 11-3 record. Allison Motea CK’16 reshirted due to injury in her her junior season playing tennis for the Grizzlies of Oakland University.
