Academic Performance: 2.5 GPA or higher in all core courses. A final grade resulting in an F may result in exiting the program at the end of the school year. Behavior and Conduct: Maintain a conduct grade of “C” or higher in all courses. Violation of MDCPS’ Code of Student Conduct may result in probation or possible immediate exit from the program. Violations of Levels 3, 4, and 5 of the Code of Student Conduct or who have been assigned to an alternative setting will not be allowed to return to the Magnet Program. Attendance: Maintain school attendance as per SB Policy 5200 which states that a student may not accumulate more than 10 unexcused absences in an annual course or more than 5 unexcused absences in a semester.
Gifted Classes start in 1st Grade. Referrals are made in Kindergarten or at any grade level by the classroom teacher. We will set up an SST meeting so that parents can sign consent for a Psychological Evaluation and the process starts. (Approx. 90 days) Private evaluations are considered with Parental Consent.
