Golf Tips Use Your Lower Body To Bomb It By Jhonattan Vegas | Golf Digest Photos by J.D. Cuban I really like what I see in these photos. They were taken during the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open on Torrey Pines' South Course in January. I averaged 303 yards off the tee that week, and a big reason for that is what you can see me doing here. “Pushing against the ground generates power for the shot.” I believe power comes from the ground. When you swing down into the ball, energy from pushing off the ground moves upward through your feet, legs and then the rest of your body and finally transfers into your arms and club. Look at how my left leg is not bent and my arms have rocketed past my body. That comes from momentum; the momentum I created by staying connected to the ground from the takeaway through impact. I also like that my weight is moving toward the target. Not only did I push upward, but also a little forward off my right foot. If you want to hit it farther, try making practice swings with your driver, eyes closed, and really sense how your feet apply pressure against the ground to put some speed into the swing. That's the feel you want to copy on the course. —With Ron Kaspriske J.D. Cuban Jhonny Vegas is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour. 19 Sembawang Country Club

Membership News Bouquets: A WARM WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS! I would like to comment on Animuthu's service and professionalism. He always put on a welcome smile that will make your day delightful. When giving instructions on the green, he is courteous and again his smile is pleasant. Thank you and do continue with the good work. OCTOBER 2017 Oh Lay Khim Jean, 14 October 2017 Patricia, I wanted to take this opportunity to reach out and sincerely thank you for allowing me to become a member of Sembawang Country Club. I know that you and others went to great lengths to accommodate my WOO JUN HON requests. Being a member at your club is very important to me and I am confident that it will help me foster better relationships with my colleagues and supervisors within the Singapore Armed Forces. I want to commend you and your staff on their professionalism and superior service extended to me throughout the application process. Additionally, I want to commend CHIA JIAN HONG WINSTON SCC’s staff for the professionalism and integrity that was displayed as they recovered my lost sunglasses from your golf course. It may appear to be an insignificant event to some that my sunglasses were waiting for me to collect at the bag drop area; however, to me, this was a great display of the honesty and dependability of the patrons and staff at the country club. I am truly grateful to be a member of your top-notch establishment and look forward YEO YI WEN ADRIAN to maintaining my membership throughout my three-year tour in Singapore. Kurt Dennis Fife, 31 October 2017 It’s great to see Candy and John working hand in hand with their team of staff painting our carpark and serving refreshments to them under hot humid conditions. Great teamwork! Keep it going! DEXTER KOH LYE MUN Gan Ai Gee, 4 November 2017 I always have pride to be an SCC member ever since I joined in 1981. I can NOVEMBER 2017 see and feel the good spirit of the staff and the Committee members who have put in tremendous effort into running an efficient and respectable Club. The human touch that they generated is very commendable. I understand that members and also the guests too have such good opinion of our Club. Sometimes I wondered that those things that I cannot do on my own capacity MOHD HAIRUL BIN KAMAL BASHAH I will be at loss, but the staff and the manager came to my assistance. For instance, for booking for the senior game on 1 November 2017, my booking khakis are all away outstation. Your golfing manager, Christine cordially helped me to secure the flights I wanted. How thoughtful of her. Then again, yesterday I need an urgent email to Cycle & Carriage, your Assistant Golfing Manager helped me to finally send it out together with Rez and Zura as I have KURT FIFE a different phone from theirs. There are numerous instances where I came across our staff who have being most helpful. They can be from various departments of our Club - the GM, his secretary, the social department, golfing section, admin department DECEMBER 2017 and others. These names have become familiar but they are thoughtful and helpful: Christine, Prema, Rani, Zura, Rez, Mahmood, Mary, Saran, Jamil, Lim Ah Heng, Mr Toh, David Toh, Mr Vijay, Mr Sawal, Mr Rahman, Jai, Norila, Nathan, Othman & James (Operation) and many others too. LEAN SHUANG LIN NOEL Lee Yian Tong Peter, 5 November 2017 The KTV System broke down on Fri night. Operations Manager Chan and his staff attended to it immediately, but to no avail. However, it was up and running early Sat afternoon, with minimal disruption. Kudos to their "can do" attitude! Well done! LOH THIEN-BENG DEREK Ho Kun Kok Kevin, 12 November 2017 Dear Rani & Afiqah, it’s been a week since our CDO tournament and we have also concluded the de-brief on our side. First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to both of you. It was indeed a great pleasure working together and I truly appreciate the support given on your JOSEPH PEH CHIN LEONG end. I would like to apologize for the numerous changes to our manifest and you kindly accommodated us. I do understand it was challenging to accede to all our requests but I’m extremely grateful for your generosity shown to us. It was unfortunate that the event was rained out eventually. However, feedback received from the participants was favorable especially on your LOH SI YUAN BILLY staff support and dinner. They all had a wonderful time and will be looking forward to next year’s event. Guest, 7 December 2017 The marshals have been very diligent in recovering my mobile phone which I dropped on the golf course. They activated the team to recover my phone. CHEN ZHOUDE JONATHAN Abdul Rahman Bin Said was the marshal that finally recovered my phone. However, collectively as a team they searched for my phone. I appreciate and congratulate them for their effort to recover my phone. Well Done! Boon Hon Lin, 14 December 2017 OH CHUN KEONG 28 Sembawang Country Club
