Rationale The ASA programme provides positive experiences to enrich and extend the school curriculum and Bus Service to offer extra curricula opportunities for our students. Please contact Kwoon Chung at 2979 8798 to find the appropriate after school bus for your child Please note that the 5:10pm and 5:20pm bus routes have limited bus stops “To inspire excellence, cultivate character, and empower engagement locally and globally.” Please inform Kwoon Chung Motors if your child will enrol in an ASA For more information on bus routes, please visit https://school.kcm.com.hk/cdnis/ Registration CDNIS and NON CDNIS families must register online via the CDNIS Online ASA Registation System Medical In the case of a medical emergency your child will be transported to the nearest public hospital CDNIS parents must log in using their Veracross username and password, failure to due so will result in the loss of (Queen Mary) by ambulance. In such cases parents will be notified the 10% CDNIS discount. If you require assistance with your password, please click on the ‘forgot your password’ link on the programme registation page or email onedoor@cdnis.edu.hk We remind students not to share food with others due to unknown food allergies NON CDNIS families who have previously created an account may click the ‘log in’ button on the general registration page. If you do not have an account, please create a new account; once your account is created, you will receive a confirmation email with your new username and a link to log in to start the registration process Student Supervision CDNIS staff will supervise students from 2:30-4pm during periods before or after lessons and Registration is first come, first serve and will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment. Payment must be ensure students catch the 4:10pm or 4:20pm bus completed online via credit card (AMEX not accepted); payment must be received at the time of enrolment in order to secure your child’s ASA enrolment Students in Pre Rec/Reception who wish to join an ASA MUST have a parent/caregiver on site Terms and Conditions Weather Advisory All courses require a minimum number to run; parents will be notified of all cancellations 2 to 3 weeks before courses commence, a refund will be issued in such cases. We reserve the right to change course times, venues If the Lightening, Thunderstorm, Amber Storm Warning, Typhoon #1 - #3 is in force, activities still continue; and dates at our discretion. Parents will be notified of any changes in advance whenever possible. Our thematic curriculum is designed based on simulated real life scenarios such as supermarkets, restaurants or airports. The immersion experience is effective with students who need a boost of confidence in spoken Mandarin, sentence formation and logic & skills. Our classes integrate three key elements: Learn We teach in small group classes so our Mandarin teachers can spend quality time with each student. Academics Academics Robotics Introduction to Python with Robotics is designed for young students The curriculum is built around basic coding principles, definitions, and simple challeng- es that develop the student’s computational thinking skills. Starting with challenges that require a single step solution, students are guided through a curriculum of 18 - 20 classes where each class focuses on a single concept. Concepts and challenges get more complex as the students advance and cumulate more understanding of coding. Python with Robotics is focused on making sure students understand the core con- cepts of programming. Academics Academics Web Publishing Objective: This course is designed to teach students PYTHON CODING, HTML and CSS WEB PUBLISHING WITH PYTHON AND ROBOTICS Designed in partnership with faculty from Cornell University, students learn to code in Python while developing strong foundations in computational thinking, logic and creative problem-solving. This course is an ideal entry point for students with no prior experience. Students will learn programming using UCode’s Python, Block IDE. The curriculum com- bines a mix of creativity and programming skills to make web publishing related courses very interesting. This course joins web publishing with python & robotics for a more robust programming experience. Web publishing skills are mainly front end and solely focus on the user expe- rience. Python brings the much needed knowledge of the backend. As an introduction to web publishing, UCode first provides students with a platform where they first complete robotics challenges using Python. Arts Arts Dance Twinkle Dance Company Established in 2007 by Twinkle Lam, the company specializes in quality and professional dance education for students of all ages in a fun and positive environment. Through dance, students will develop their physical skills and be strongly encouraged to explore and experience the joy of dance. Ballet: Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus Students who study the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus will be preparing for the RAD examinations from May to June each year. They are given the opportunity to challenge themselves by demonstrating their Extra Costs: knowledge and understanding of the work and will receive a graded certificate. Arts Arts Ukulele Ukulele Join one of our dynamic ukulele groups and enjoy singing and playing current pop songs and old favorites! We have fun in our classes, following group suggestions for songs and learning in an encouraging, exciting environment. There are now 3 sections to suit your specific level (beginner, intermediate and advanced). Beginner (Grades 1-3) This is the first time you are trying the ukulele. You will need to bring your own quality instrument and clip-on tuner. You will be learning how to hold and strum your instrument in time with your classmates. After a few weeks, you will be able to sing and play songs using up to four or more chords. You’ll also begin to learn how to play basic melodies. Intermediate (Grades 2-4) You have mastered the first four chords most people learn on the ukulele (C, Am, Courses F, G) and can play a C major scale as well as a few songs. Now the focus will be on strumming cool patterns, playing melodies as well as chords, improvising and composing a song as a group. Higher difficulty skills and training will be performed across all apparatus, so gymnasts need to be mentally and physically prepared for the challenge. Children are encouraged to develop individuality. A key component of this will be learning floor routines with music and choreography. Students are advised to train multiple times a week in order to consistently improve strength, flexibility and advanced skills needed for this level of gymnastics. Sports Sports Inline Skating & Hockey Go Sport Created in 2008, Go Sport is committed to offering quality inline skating and hockey programmes to children of various ages, abilities and backgrounds. We strive to facilitate a healthy lifestyle which aids the development of social skills and promotes learning in a fun, active and positive environment. Inline Skating The skating portion is designed for children of all skill levels. Those with little or no skating experience will cover safety, balancing, stopping, swizzles and backward skating. More experienced skaters will be challenged with advanced skills like backward crossovers, parallel turns and pivots. All children will be taught about skate maintenance and how to tackle stairs and obstacles to help prepare them for skating outside the school environment. This class is guaranteed to rock (and roll)! Hockey Inline Hockey is designed for experienced skaters and Ball Hockey is for Courses those who prefer to play without skates. Classes focus on refining skills and developing stick handling, passing and shooting techniques.
