Welcome to Camp Brandenburg Adventure Pod Summer Hello Campers, We're so excited to see you at Camp Brandenburg. This summer is unique in that families and troops get to experience the magic of camp together with their Girl Scout! How great is that?! Adventure Pods help us keep everyone as safe as possible while enjoying our beautiful Girl Scout camp. Here's what you need to know. Contacting Camp • Questions About Camp: info@gsbadgerland.org | 800.236.2710 • Camp Brandenburg Director (weekends & after hours while at camp): 608.267-1166 Checking In • Check In is 2-6 p.m. At check-in, you'll complete a form regarding potential COVID-19 symptoms and have your temperature taken. Then you'll grab a camp map, get a wagon to help transport your gear, and head to your adventure pod to get set up! Staff-led activities will be available starting at 3:15 p.m. for fun during check-in hours. Format of Adventure Pod Camp • The format of camp will largely be staff-led, with some on-your-own activities among your Adventure pod or cohort (other campers living in your area of camp). The typical day at camp has programming from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with breaks and meals in between. See the sample schedules on pages 6 (weekday schedule) & page 7 (weekend schedule). COVID Guidelines • Masks are not required while outdoors at camp, nor when indoors with your cohort. However, masks must be worn when in the dining hall and in other indoor settings with other cohorts when 6 feet social distancing is not possible. We support anyone who chooses to wear a mask this summer. Medications • Camp staff are first-aid certified and can help in minor situations, however there will not be a nurse on-site. Please note you should bring your own medications - both prescription AND over-the-counter. All medications will need to be dispensed by the adult in the Adventure Pod. 2
Cell Phones & Electronics • Adults may use phones to capture memories of camp (use #BadgerlandAdventurePods to share your pictures with Badgerland's social media marketing team). However, cell phone service is usually spotty or nonexistent at camp. Most sleeping spaces have power in the cabin or unit house to charge your device. Camp Staff • This summer, we have activity coordinators (rather than "camp counselors"). This means that camp staff will be with you only during activities, but not staying overnight in cabins. However, if something comes up, each cohort has a radio to reach camp staff for whatever questions they may have. Staff phone numbers are also posted in each cohort if they cannot be reached by radio. Trading Post • The camp shop (aka Trading Post) will be open for limited hours on Saturdays and Wednesday. Check out the selection of camp essentials, t-shirts, plushies and fun mementos. Items range in price from $2 to $30. Food items are not available for purchase. Cash, credit card and Badgerland Bucks are accepted. Water Safety • Parents must sign a waiver if their girl plans to go canoeing. All adults must sign a waiver as well. Swimming in Lake Katrine is not allowed. Inclement Weather • If staying in a tent or shift pod and bad weather is on its way, Hilltop Lodge will serve as the storm shelter. Food at Camp • If you signed up for the meal plan, you'll eat hot meals at Hilltop with your cohort. • If you're making your own meals, you'll need to bring all cooking and clean-up supplies for cooking over the fire (don't forget the mess kit and cast iron skillet). Firewood will be provided and fire must not leave the provided fire ring space. Grills are not allowed. • Snacks are not NOT allowed in cabins, shift pods or tents, as it can attract wildlife. All food must be kept in vehicles in bags or coolers. 3
