Hope is on the Horizon with Hopewell Recreation! Hello Hopewell Residents: During these unprecedented times, Hopewell Recreation has made it our mission to continue to find ways to bring our residents the very best and safest ways to get out and enjoy themselves again! The Recreation Department ran 14 outdoor camps and 14 virtual camps this past year, giving many children and teens the chance to find some normalcy during this pandemic. Getting out with friends and engaging in all different activities and sports, whether it was on the field or by “Zoom” instruction, it was a pleasant way to relish the summer days! Movies in the Park, located at Woolsey Park, was a great addition to our programming this summer! We offered 2 movies this summer that were attended by many of our Township families! It was amazing to see so many of our residents out enjoying themselves in this socially distant event. It was a safe way to bring the community back together again. The Recreation Department will continue this new found tradition, as we will bring Movies in the Park back in October! This Fall and Winter, we have many outdoor programs for children as well as for adults! Tennis anyone? The Recreation Department has a great mix of new and exciting Virtual offerings as well…CSI Stem Class, Babysitting Class and Art Classes for all ages! We will also have Local Trip offerings this Fall. Many residents are ready to get out of the house, but are very concerned about the environment around them. This is a great way to get some fresh air, see some friends, social distance, and stay in your comfort zone! While we are incredibly excited to offer Community Trips this season, we care deeply about the health and safety of our residents. We have dedicated ourselves to staying up-to-date with all the CDC recommendations and government guidelines. With that being said, it is important to keep moving forward and planning trips and experiences that will uplift us and bring us contentment and joy! “Queen Esther” at the famous Sight and Sounds Theatre as well as our Annual Christmas Show at the American Music Theatre are just a couple of excursions we hope to take with you in November and December. We now can look forward to the crisp days of Fall, filled with colorful leaves, pumpkin spice and apple pie. It’s important to soak up everything this time of year has to offer, but most importantly, to acknowledge what we have been through together as a community. For now it is time to turn the page to a new season that may bring us better things ahead. ^tÜ|Ç cÉäxÜÉÅÉ Director of Parks & Recreation Our office is located in the Hopewell Township Municipal Building and is open weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. ________________________________________________________________________ 2
